The problem of NEPA is very simple. No matter how many gallons of water you pour into a basket, it will never get full. The government should break up this monopoly into several little pieces and then separately auction each piece. This will activate private ownership as well as fierce competition in the power sector. The private sector is always more efficient than the civil service in any country, because their personal interests are aligned with public interests. Private power sector players, in the presence of capable competition, will definitely perform. Not because they are saints who love Nigeria, but because the happiness of Nigerians will profit them too! |
would you privatise the military?I would happily privatize the lower ranks of the military and police. Existing armed forces already make extensive use of civilian contractors. The Iraqi prisoner abusers were private contractors (ok, that doesn't help my case). |
Skidoc, which or my statements do you disagree with? ![]() - That Snazzydawn's face will sell a t-shirt. - Or that she should be paid before her picture is used? |
The universities are not in need of funding. They are in need of privatization. Pouring more money into failed government projects like NEPA, NITEL and many of these universities is like pouring more water into a basket! |

This is just a way of blaming those who don't have by claiming it's because they don't see. That's 419! ![]() |
This global discrimination against Satan and demons is getting out of hand. I believe in equal spiritual opportunities for all. If the Reverend of Satan and his demons wants to demonstrate Satan's innocence, we should listen first! |

Thanks a million, consultant, for your contribution. ![]() |
Please, if you feel you are stressed or depressed, you should definitely see a doctor as soon as possible. How often do you exercise? |
Badman: thanks! Census: Obasanjo Seeks Additional N2.2bn In a letter to the House of Representatives, through its Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, the President drew attention of the House to what he said was "supplementary expenditure incurred last March from the excess crude account to facilitate the successful completion of the 2006 National Population census." Obasanjo, in the letter dated June 3, 2006, justified the two-day extension he granted the exercise as his response to a plea for intervention from state governors, in the light of the initial delays which greeted the census exercise. "After due consultation with key stakeholders, I granted an extension of two days, the additional cost resulting from this extension amounted to N2,187,193,480," wrote Obasanjo, adding, "the bulk of this amount was for the payment of allowances to about 777,000 functionaries (supervisors, coordinators and enumerators), while the remaining amount was for fueling, transportation and other logistics." The President told the lawmakers that "the European Union, which had provided some financial support for the exercise, including payment of allowances, could, however, not meet the incremental cost of the extension due to administrative constraints." Obasanjo further told the lawmakers that "as no budgetary provision had been made by the government for this supplementary cost, and given the urgency of the situation," he had to discuss the problem with stakeholders, after which "it was agreed that the only way to fund this was to source money from the excess crude account." The president listed the stakeholders whom he said moved to save the "national emergency" as Revenue, Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, the governors and Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). Following the meetings, further wrote the President, "I granted approval for the money to be debited from the excess crude account, the dollar equivalent of which amounted to US$17,290,064.04 (and), the bulk of this amount N2,07billion was credited directly to the account of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Nigeria office, which wa responsible for administering the allowances." I have told you this man is a 'socialist'. He supports government spending rather than proper privatization: Duke Seeks $1bn Each for VarsitiesSource: http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=50036 If elected as president, he'll be the sort of president whose programmes will be supported by the economically illiterate masses who don't fully understand the consequences? The most dangerous kind of leader? ![]() |
As Nigerians prepare for the 2007 general elections to elect a successor to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has advised them to demand and vote for a leader who will continue and build on the foundation of reforms laid by the current administration. The entrenchment of reforms, according to her, will go a long way in creating macro-economic stability and all the other indices of development for the country. Okonjo-Iweala in her contribution at a Panel Discussion at the THISDAY Town Hall Meeting Tuesday night inside the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel said, such a leader should not just be brave and courageous enough to do the right thing but should also be transparent in words and deeds. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=50041 |
Wha is the source of this story, please? I haven't been able to confirm it. |
If you put Snazzydawn's face on the T-shirt it wil probably sell. But you would need to pay her for the privilege. |
I can confirm that sugarmama = eazyman. Should I ban them? |
Seun, are you impressed by Obasanjo when he makes a speech?Yes. I was one of his most faithful supporters before the third term project reared its ugly head. |
But I hardly come across these suffering and dying children (except those that are frequently beaten up by their 'well-meaning' parents). And my neighbourhood isn't a rich one or middle-class one. Where are they hiding? ![]() |
If the people of Niger Delta think that violent criminals will give them the prosperity they desire, they are badly mistaken. These people want only one thing - to be in control of the wealth of the region at the expense of the people of Nigeria and the Niger Deltans themselves. Criminals will always find a way to justify their actions. When the Nigerian military started killing politicians to get power, the people of Nigeria thought they were going to benefit, and of course they were wrong. Only a fool would look up to unrepentant murderers for justice. |
Poverty. UNICEF. Hmmm. Keep it up, Queenzy. |
No, it's ok. I enjoy my work because I'm my own boss. If you're single, Valentine's day is not so important right? |
PZ (Omo) should create a tv advert out of this. ![]() |

They didn't lie. The number of views on the pastor chris thread is now 6262. They misunderstood the other stats (forum stats) but I have no problem with that! |
i fiqured that it is not biblical for women to wear trouser.Your research was probably flawed. It is biblical for a women to wear women's trousers. Besides the commandment about clothes - which doesn't say anything against women's trousers - was for the jews only. |
