There is always a mode in which you can create a blank .java file, write what you want to write, and compile! I agree that when you struggle with command line IDE may be easy but why struggle in the first place?

My ideas: (I confess I have never been in your situation):

1) Take the time to take the career test at www.livecareer.com so you know for sure what your kind of job is. Pay for the full report to get a clearer picture. Without this, I think other steps may not work.

2) Familiarize yourself with the various online job boards. Craigslist is king. http://craigslist.org/ http://leeds.craigslist.org/

3) Is there a way to generate ideas to improve your current workplace and maybe impress supervisors?

I think it's commendable that you are taking action in this way, though I am concerned because protests alone cannot build power stations or manufacture the gas that PHCN says is scarce because of the actions of the Niger Delta boys.

Very important: Please make sure that you inform the Lagos police about this protest and they give you permission, or else the debacle that occured in which teargas was used on the protesting mothers of the children in the Sosoliso aircraft. Safety first!

Ok, let's me explain why HydraIRC is the best IRC client.

IRSSI is a text mode IRC client that runs only on Linux. Who uses text-mode clients in the 21st century? And how many Internet-enabled terminals in Nigeria have Linux?

XChat is a supposedly good graphical IRC client. The free version for Windows weighs 5.1mb, but the default version for windows is not free.

MIRC is supposedly a good graphical IRC client. It weights 1.61mb and it's has a 30 day trial.

HydraIRC is my recommended IRC client. It weighs just 645kb, is very user friendly, and looks like this:

Inexcusable mistakes and excusable mistakes are not the same. The case of the woman who was driving and hit a child because something entered her eyes is an excusable one. The case of someone who drinks and drives knowing the risks of drinking and driving is not an excusable mistake. If you are a woman, and you know that you can easily fall into temptation and have sex when you are drunk, then why should you get drunk in the first place? That is not excusable.

Everything we do in this world that hurts us can be termed a "mistake". Every serial criminal in prison made "mistakes". Saddam Hussein, Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Idi AMin Dada and Sanni Abacha all made terrible "mistakes". Will you now say because of that that they should not be punished? No. Because all mistakes are not the same. Saying something is a "mistake" just because the consequences have come back to bite you is bullshit. All mistakes are not the same.

My own phone is a nuisance:
- The battery runs out frequently and I have to recharge it.
- The validity period expires and I have to buy new recharge cards even if I make no calls.
- Sometimes someone I don't know may flash me or call me at an inconvenient time.

Frankly, I just want people to email me instead of calling. Why am I spending so much for Internet only to have to spend more on an annoying GSM phone? It's a nuisance!

People don't make love by mistake. They do what they want to do and then later when they start facing the consequences they say it was a mistake. That is technically correct, but it's not what we usually mean when we say "mistake".

Let's say, for instance, that I stumble into my bedroom one night and a woman is there and I think she's my wife, and I have sex with her only to discover after the act that she's someone else. That's one kind of mistake. An excusable one.

However,let's I knew she was not my wife but went ahead to sleep with her because I thought my wife will never find out. And then my wife finds out. Or maybe she gets pregnant. Or I get infected with HIV. It's still a "mistake", because I wouldn't have done it if I knew for sure that one of those three things would happen, but this kind of "mistake" is not excusable! When people are arguing about whether one can make love by mistake, I think what they are more concerned about is whether the act can be excused on the basis of being a"mistake". My answer is "most of the time, no".

Some ladies like to get drunk so they can have wild sex and then blame it on alcohol when they wake up. That's not a mistake that can be excused. Another common "mistake" women make is to sleep with someone thinking "this sex is going to be enjoyable" and then when the sex is not enjoyable, they call it a mistake - especially when they lose their virginity in the process. Others cheat on their spouses and later call it a "mistake" when they are caught. Technically, these cases are all "mistakes" but they are not mistakes that can be excused. They are inexcusable mistakes.
