FamilyRe: Still Bearing Your Maiden Name After Marriage? by Seun(mod): 1:51am On Mar 12, 2006
The surname I bear is not even mine - afterall, I did not coin it - so this is not a big deal. However, it can be troublesome to deal with third parties who are surprised that your wife doesn't share your surname. So if the husband's surname is not good, perhaps the husband and wife can agree on a new name to share?
RomanceRe: Slob Vs Neat Freak by Seun(mod): 1:46am On Mar 12, 2006
Well, I misplace things a bit easily but I'm also very careful about how I (don't) spend my money. I have been known to grumble and go into a week-long depression because I can't account for some 200 naira. I don't think you can stereotype people that way; each person is different.

This site progresses much faster when we spend more time enjoying it and less time complaining about the management!
WebmastersRe: Building A Search Engine Like Google by Seun(mod): 1:06am On Mar 12, 2006
But i have seen something that's related to Pagerank algorithm before
The hilltop algorithm is one (pagerank is patented!). You can't get good results from these algorithms if you simply discard links to and from pages that are not Nigerian.

Challenges involved in distributed web crawling itself must not be underestimated. Jonga above is basically a small web directory so it may just run on a single server the way Nairaland does, but search engines like google and co are different.

FashionRe: Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria 2006 by Seun(mod): 12:17am On Mar 12, 2006
Let those who want to be models be models and those that want to be housewives or career women go into that. It's not your place to dictate what kind of life another person must live. That is the truth.

Personally, despite being as handsome as I am, I don't think of modelling as a rewarding career. But some people actually enjoy being admired by others and if it makes them happy why should I be the one to block their joy?
RomanceRe: Slob Vs Neat Freak by Seun(mod): 12:14am On Mar 12, 2006
You can't call neat freaks "obsessive compulsive". If you find yourself living with a super-slob before you know it you would be behaving exactly like a neat freak. cheesy
Nairaland GeneralRe: Your Worst Nightmare by Seun(mod): 12:10am On Mar 12, 2006
I'm glad it didn't actually happen. I described some bad nightmares of mine. I always dream about returning to secondary schol and failing exams I have passed well in the past. sad Share your dreams here.

I like it. cool

I may have a little problem with the flash animation. Is it really necessary? (it takes time to load on my dial-up connection).
WebmastersRe: Building A Search Engine Like Google by Seun(mod): 11:58pm On Mar 11, 2006
Why would someone want web search results from one country only? huh
BusinessRe: What Business Would You Start Given Unlimited Capital? by Seun(mod): 11:56pm On Mar 11, 2006
That's wrong. There's no reason to believe that the scale of the operation has no effect on how quickly she breaks even. The larger the scale, the more you have to spend, and the more you need to make to break even. Uninterrupted electricity supply from a power plant that covers a small town or an estate would be somewhat cheaper than using a diesel generator, but more importantly it would be much more convenient and noiseless. People will gladly pay for it.

ComputersRe: Windows XP Media Center Edition by Seun(mod): 10:48pm On Mar 11, 2006
What I'm just saying is that there's Windows XP can do the job even on an under-powered PC. You can hibernate all the time instead of shutting down if you want your system boot quickly. Media-playing capability is something built into every modern PC.

BusinessRe: I Have 1 Million Naira, I Want To Set Up An ISP by Seun(mod): 9:59pm On Mar 11, 2006
My knowledgeable and well certificated oga, I can get any certification I want by cramming without an instructor. That does not mean I'll remember a thing of what I read one week after the exam. Knowledge is key, not certification. 'Certifications' are even worse than degrees as measures of knowledge, which is why an Indian programmer friend told me that certifications are no longer valued by Indian employers. However, you have made yourself perfectly clear and further discussion is unwarranted.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Competition Or Frustration by Seun(mod): 9:45pm On Mar 11, 2006
The "raiding Nairaland" thread on JustNaija has been removed. Yay! I may go ahead to remove the word block on their URL in acknowledgement of this gesture. Competition is good if executed ethically.

C0dec, the word in question has been overused on the forum, especially in titles. It can mean boy, man, or person. Just choose which one is more appropriate. This is offtopic though.
FamilyRe: Husbands Who Beat Their Wives by Seun(mod): 9:41pm On Mar 11, 2006
Well if my (future) wife slaps me I reserve the right to slap her back. Inasmuch as I do not support violence against women, this position is not intended to give women a monopoly on violence. I will also not accept that.

RomanceRe: How Do I Tell A Boy I'm Not Interested Without Hurting Feelings? by Seun(mod): 9:34pm On Mar 11, 2006
Rejection always leads to hurt feelings. You can just be honest and say what you feel and hope he understands or at least appreciates your honesty. But you don't need to close the door of possibility completely, do you? People change, you know.

You haven't checked the the WAP 2.0 version. That's typical. Why do you think I have two versions? Because one has more features than the other! Try wap2.nairaland.com on your phone.
