TravelRe: The Fear Of Area Boys (Agbero) In Lagos by Seun(mod): 9:57am On Feb 23, 2006
If we can get good jobs for those boys, then they can be taken off the streets and rehabilitated. You don't take awayu the income of people like that without giving them alternatives. At least, what they do is still better than armed robbery, which is what more of them will go into if they are forced off the streets without alternatives given.

Maybe the Area Boys should be registered and organized by the government into a respected body to aid commercial drivers and collect revenue. That would be better than forcing them into a life of more violent crime. What do you think?

RomanceRe: Why Should Class Come Between Love? by Seun(mod): 9:51am On Feb 23, 2006
Class comes between love because when someone that is very rich or popular is dating someone that's very poor and unknown it is hard to tell if the love is due to his/her character or the possessions, popularity or class of that person.

One backup plan that works quite well is data backup! Make sure your information is in at least two places at once so that when your PC, phone or other gadget fails you'll be able to recover it. In other words, you can back up technology with technology!

You can think of the Orishas as gods, and I think the wikipedia article is ok. What more do you want to know about them?
PoliticsRe: silly Killings: Why Kill Each Other About Religion? by Seun(mod): 9:25am On Feb 23, 2006
The Igbos that avenged the killings of innocent Igbos (and Yorubas) in the North by killing innocent Hausas in the South are guilty of first degree murder. Those ones are not stupid; they are criminals. But those who are encouraging them, what can I say?

What are you talking about? Have you been to Oshodi and Mushin in Lagos during the rainy season? Refuse, mud, water puddles everywhere. Mushin and Oshodi are the dirtiest cities in Nigeria!

People are stupid and they make enemies out of people who are not enemies.

The war-mongerers are telling the people that they are feeling marginalized and the stupid people are believing them.

The people of Niger Delta are married to Nigeria. We all have to obey the same constitution regardless of our "culture, tradition, language". Anybody within the borders of Nigeria simply needs to obey Nigerian law and Nigerian law says the oil is to be managed by the FG. If they don't like the law, let them sponsor senators who will go ahead and amend those laws. Until then, let them obey the laws of Nigeria like the rest of us.

Afterall it's not as if the oil is something they labored for which is now being seized from them. They did not work for it, so they have not been cheated. But they should be compensated for the pollution which interferes with their lives and means of livelihood. This can be obtained through relevant court orders. I heard they won a settlement from Shell recently!
PoliticsRe: Nine Oil Workers Kidnapped In Niger Delta by Seun(mod): 9:03pm On Feb 22, 2006
Kokscity: My analogy is sound. The Hausas, Igbos, Yorubas and minorites are married together by the laws of Nigeria. You may call it a bad marriage, but it remains a marriage nonetheless.

The simple answer to my "puzzle" is that such a case is determined by the laws of the land. There is no hard and fast rule about who owns natural resources. It's a matter of law. If the law says that natural resources like oil are to be managed by the federal government, then that's all there is to it.

It's left to the Niger Deltans to look for a way to influence the FG to divert more of the resources their way. Failing that, they should convince the expatriates to settle down among them and help them develop their land!

Kokscity: Let me try to explain with the story of a very wealthy king who lives with his 4 wives living in a big palace compouind. In the palace compound, there are four buildings - one for each wife - and a 5th one for the king himself.

One day, a very large quantity of gold, greater in value than all the king's possessions, is found buried near the foundation of the house of his least favored wife. Now who owns that gold? The king, the least favored wife, or everybody in the compound?

Are they the ones that planted the oil there? No.

Are they the ones that discovered the oil there? No.

Are they the ones that extract the oil there? No.

Are they the ones that turn the oil into dollars? No.

Do they know how to refine the oil? No.

SO what exactly is the basis of their claim? An accident of history! The truth is, the only thing they really deserve is to be compensated for the damage to the environment often caused by oil extraction. Oil spillages and gas flaring have harmed their environment and in some cases made fishing difficult, so they should be compensated for that and nothing more. Afterall, their forefathers did not plant the oil!

No, I'm not going. The place is too unstable. Militants everywhere, US forces "assisting" Nigeria to bomb the area. No, I'm not interested. Thank you very much. I have said before that no-one wants to visit or settle down in a place that is insecure. If it was merely a poor region I can go there as a rich man and help to develop it. But an insecure place? No way!

He' just gonna run away if he discovers that Naruto is too strong for him. What do you think the Akatsuki people want to do with Shukaku and Kyuubi?

The most enjoyable match will be one between Itachi and Orochimaru. It's hard to say who will win, but Itachi is known not to involve himself in unecessary battles so instead of lsoing to Orochimaru he'll just escape.

The solution is to tell the federal government to do something about it.
