Skinkerjnr:Good morning sir, you can be feeding her cereals and milk. Then as she grows older you can start gradually start introducing her to rice etc |
Walexz02:You're always welcome, unfortunately there is no drug to kill the worm inside the body, it was found that it would cause more harm if the worm is killed inside the body without allowing it come out, so I'll advice you to change location, preferably indoors for now then keep removing, if your not convient with the groundnut oil you can use palm oil as I advised you. Which area do you stay in Ibadan? so that I'll help you make inquiries. I hope this helps!! |
Walexz02:I advice you go to UI Veterinary hospital, it's the most standard. I don't have a WhatsApp group yet, all I do here is basically to give pet owners access to geniue veterinary services at no cost inorder to prevent innocent pet owners from falling into the hands of quacks. |
treasurevee9:My mind is now at rest, so we move. Please update on any development ma |
treasurevee9:Her qualification ma, I want you to have the best hands especially when it comes to injecting your pet, because such procedures are very sensitive and we have many non-vets who may claim to be vets. |
treasurevee9:Very possible ma, infact it's a major route. Then one more thing, please confirm your Vet, to be sure even if you trust her. I'll DM my number to you. |
Walexz02:Good afternoon sir, to be sincere with you, based on all you said above, I'll advice you to take your dog to the nearest Veterinary clinic/hospital for complete medical checkup and vaccination. Meanwhile, for the myasis you can rub palm oil or Vaseline around the body, this will suffocate the larva and it would come out, then you can now apply GV over the wound area. For the ticks you can get this drug Bravecto®, it's an oral drug and also Fipronil spray, that would take care of the the ticks externally. For the weakness, you can get glucose solution coupled with Bcomplex and try and encourage your dog to eat. But as I said earlier, your best bet is to take your dog to the hospital where professionals would physically attend to your dog. I hope this helps!!!. And I'm sorry once more |
treasurevee9:Good morning ma, I'm so sorry about the condition and I can assure you all will be well, please put your mind at rest. If I'm to judge from what you've said above, it's either the infection was not completely cured or there is something in your environment inducing the re-infection. Hence, from the first point, it could be the drug was not strong enough or a brand of poor quality, there could also be error in dosage in relation to the severity of the condition and also poor nutrition. From the second point, it could be from environmental factors; like contaminated environment, utensils etc. Hence before we take our next step, we need to decontaminate. Therefore, I'll advice we go for another sensitivity test, this time around, I'll guide you all through and monitor the progress and advice you on the best brand. If you are convenient, I can send my WhatsApp contact to you for effective monitoring. I hope this helps, I'll be on standby. |
CommandosKennel:You can dissolve it in water and give your dog to swallow. For the recommendation, you can get mectizan®, it has been reported to be very good. I hope this helps!!! |
seunH:Please update us on any development |
dexpee4life:Good morning Sir, how is the family? Which other symptoms are you seeing? If none, then I'll advice you to give your dog food rich in vegetables and then supplement with multivitamins. For the fish intestine......hmmmm.... I'm not to comfortable, why not the fish instead. I hope this helps? |
Walekennel:Good morning sir, how is the family. Ofcourse, provided it's not genetic. That is, leaness does not run in their gene. I hope this helps ![]() |
lamikas:Good morning ma, so sorry I've been offline for a while now, I've been very busy. I hope my response is not too late, and if it is then let this be a form of education to others. It isn't advisable to attempt home treatment for your dog due to the fact that parvo is very contagious and can affect other dogs in your home and even environment, hence the need to evacuate asap to a vet hospital. Also as the disease progresses, it becomes very difficult for the dog to feed, take medicines or even fluids and may vomit if you attempt force feeding, hence its only via IV infusion that you can manage your dog, which is not advisable to be done at home except in the hospital by a professional. I believe you love your dog ma, hence do the best for your lovely pet, if it's not too late. I hope this helps for everyone!!! |
seunH:Common factors responsible for vaccine failure in Nigeria: 1) Fake/Substandard vaccine 2) Poor vaccine storage 3) Improper administration of vaccine especially by untrained individuals 4) Vaccinating an already sick dog 5) Not vaccinating at the right age 6) Genetics (although rare in Nigeria) All the above can be avoided if your dog is vaccinated at the right age according to the vaccination schedule published on this thread, by going preferably to a Vet Teaching Hospital or Standard Vet Hospital where you would have access to well preserved vaccines and access to qualified staffs who would properly vaccinate your pets. Please avoid quacks and don't because of looking for something cheap go for a substandard vaccine because at the end the repercussion is very grave. I hope this helps!!! |
GreatDamife:Excellent sir, continue like that and please avoid mushy behaviors too, like excessive petting etc and also give your dog food rich in animal protein and calcium. |
kennethfranc:Yes chief, a lot of factors are responsible for this, which I would highlight later once I'm less busy. But the answer still remain a capital YES although if due process is followed the chances is reduced. |
GreatDamife:Good morning sir, many factors may contribute to the above condition and they include the following; 1) The genetic predisposition of that particular dog. Some Rots may have a genetic predisposition that make unagressive which could be a trait passed on from parent, hence the breeder may be questioned 2) The environment of your Rot also matter, do you raise your Rot as a pet or as a guard dog? it is a decision most clients find difficult to make. Hence they tend to raise their dogs as a pet while they may have intentions to make the dog a guard dog later. As a result don't usually get the desired result later when they want to use as a guard dog Hence, avoid interaction between strangers and even friends with your dog and also avoid keeping your dogs indoors too much, they should be in their cage most times. This would go a long way in grooming them to be guard dogs I hope this helps!!!! |
Uzland:Praise God, I'm so glad to hear that. Please be careful next time |
PetsAirways:Please be my guest anytime |
Uzland:just normal pop and swallow |
Uzland:Sorry, I made a mistake I felt you said penicillin powder, you can use your ointment but GV is better |
FBB100:But the question is, how many MLS would be ready to do their Msc in Anatomy, Same goes for nursing, pharmacy etc, are they going to be sufficient to man all the faculties of MLS, Pharmacy, Nursing etc in Nigeria. And let me burst your brain, they are moves to make admission into Msc/PhD in Anatomy/Physiology etc strictly for those with MBBS background. I hope you know they've already succeeded in MPH (Masters of Public Health), you can't get admission into Masters of Public Health if you're not a doctor !!!!!. So it's like there is an ambush |
Uzland:PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't apply penicillin ointment or any ointment at all. They will "cook" the wound i.e the ointment would provide a medium for bacterial proliferation. Ciprofloxacin + Tinidazole is too much, Ordinary Amoxicillin would suffice sir, you need not waste your money I hope this helps |
PetsAirways:Sorry for the delay, I had an emergency. Many factors are responsible which could include; Type of food- Some food are naturally not compatible with the particular specie of dog Genetic- Some species of dogs are genetically wired against some particular food, hence feeding them with it may cause problems Age- The age of the dog determines too, at a particular age dog react wildlly to some food till they are matured Method of preparation- The way the food is prepared also determines how wildly a dog would react to the food. I hope this helps!!!! |
NoToPile:They will tell you the PhD is meant for only MBBS/BDS/DVM. No need for Bsc to apply!!! except you want to travel out |
NoToPile:God bless you, okay if you say we need to be medically qualified to teach MBBS students, what of medlab, pharmacy, radiography, physiotherapy, Bsc Anatomy/Physiology/bch etc, do we also need to be medically qualified to teach them too |
Take a look for your perusal
|
NoToPile:Initially it started I guess in UI, but now it is all over. They said those with only Bsc/Msc/PhD are not "medically qualified". They said only those with MBBS, BDS and recently DVM (Veterinary medicine) are "medically qualified". Even this new university of medicine has joined the foray. |
PetsAirways:Please give me some minutes, so that I'll be able to explain in details. I'll get back to you |
please don't forget to update us on any development!!! |
Uzland:Since it's an emergency let's go like this; 1) CLEAN THE AREA WITH CLEAN COTTON WOOL SOAKED IN METHYLATED SPIRIT OR MILD ANTISEPTIC SOAP 2) THEN APPLY GENTIAN VIOLET OVER THE WOUND AREA 3) GET TO THE CHEMIST AND ASK FOR A BROAD SPECTRUM ANTIBIOTICS AND A PAIN RELIVER Preferably Diclofenac® * GV is that purple ointment that is usually applied on wound, you can get it in a human pharmacy shop. I hope this helps!!!! |
Uzland:Good afternoon sir, it depends on the extent of injury. But it would be better if you can quickly snap the injury site as to avoid misdiagnosis, then I'll tell you the next step. But meanwhile get cotton wool, methylated spirit, and Gentian Violet (GV) ready. |
