Henuell:Glad to hear that |
Henuell:Good morning Sir, just simply put your mind at rest, its not an issue, it would resolve on its own. If the pain is becoming unbearable, you can simply administer a mild over the counter analgesic, so sorry for the late response. |
chiboy1116:You can post here sir, so that others can benefit. But if you are uncomfortable with that arrangement, I would send you my number, you can check your email inbox. |
chiboy1116:Good morning sir, and I'm really sorry and I promise to give this case my utmost attention. We would be aggressive in our treatment plan. First I would need pictures for my own observation and then I would give you my number for further consultation. Let me assure you that God willing all would be well, please put your mind at rest. |
Henuell:Be my guest anytime |
wizi44:Habaaa!!!, its not like that Sir, I believe there are criteria that need to be met which this thread has not possibly met for this thread to enter front page. Hopefully this criteria would be met, so that this thread would have the chance to help a lot of pet owners. Thanks so much for your concern, really appreciate |
Henuell:Good morning Sir, It doesn't really affect but may affect his chances of learning how to walk very fast. So reduce the rate of carrying your pup and let him walk more often !!! |
slydog:Its an honor sir. But please I'll be happy if you can snap the area and post it for me to examine objectively. That way I'll have an idea of what is going on and I'll be able to advice you better. |
Henuell:First of all, put your mind at rest. The pain will eventually go away but as I told you earlier, you would need to visit your Vet for general check up and vaccination. So put your mind at rest Sir, all will be well |
TomorrowToday:I'm so sorry sir, you've done well with what you've administered, it works. Lime or lemon too can work, even dogonyaro tree (neem extracts) too can also work temporarily. Keep us posted when the vet arrives. |
4lashy:Excellent, I'll inbox my number to you, so as to do proper clerking and figure out a way forward. If we confirm its otitis externa, we would first of all clean up the ear to remove all the pus and debris found inside, this would be routinely and then supported with an antibiotic |
4lashy:I'm so sorry for the delay Sir, today was very hectic. From the above, I'm suspecting Otitis externa, but I won't want to be conclusive not until I get full information. Please if there are other symptoms you are observing, let me know so that we will know the next step!!! |
Henuell:I'm so sorry for the late response, I've been very busy. You can teach your dog basic commands by using positive reinforcement method. In this method you would motivate your dog to do what you want by giving it his favorite treat as a reward when he does it. It is advisable to give your dog a name first before you start the process. I hope this helps |
klom007:I'll inbox my number to you so that I can clerk you better via WhatsApp |
Henuell:Please be my guest |
klom007:Are you seeing signs of her being on heat? |
Henuell:Good evening sir, it depends on the breed, genetic make up, preexisting health issues and feeding. But if you want to compare heights, there are threads here on nairaland where dog owners post pics of their dogs as they grow. I hope this helps!!! |
klom007:Good evening Sir, we will appreciate if you give us more back ground information on your dog's condition, for example is she healthy, has she been mated or on heat, previous medication etc. These information will help us help you better!! |
Jackonsy:It depends on the severity and the drugs used to manage it |
Jackonsy:I'm so sorry about the condition, as said earlier, you can go for a blood test to ascertain the source of the problem (what cause the blood clot). That would determine your next step, whether to treat UTI or not. |
Osemond123:Good morning sir, personally I have reservations over processed foods because they contain chemicals used as a preservative which will be harmful to your dog on the long run, hence I usually recommend natural food. Bingo dry food according to what was written on the pack seems to be of high quality but some people have equally expressed displeasure with the quality of the dog food and the effect it has on their dog, hence I would say, it's based on individual preference, what works for you may not work for the other person. I hope this helps |
Zeeknow3245:My dear brother, those "Vets" you are seeing collecting cheap money, are mostly QUACKS. There are some "Vets" who would collect 1,000 naira from you to come to your house to vaccinate your dog!!! even here on Nairaland one even claimed to be able to treat Parvo with just 500 naira, my brother no licensed veterinarian would collect that ridiculous amount, its only a quack that would. I was in a WhatsApp group, where a guy in Rivers state said about 4 "Vets" came to his house to attend to his dog, and I kept wondering where he easily found 4 "Vets" when in the whole Niger-Delta region there isn't a single Vet school!!!. My brother this is one of the major issues we are dealing with, but I can assure you that all hands are on deck to address it. I want you to also know that; 'A profession which is not lucrative, does not have quacks'. FINALLY, I want you to remain focused, your are not in this world to please everybody and the grass is not greener on the other side, every profession has its own peculiar challenges. I also faced challenges till I got here and it wasn't easy, it would interest you to know that I had a degree in Anatomy (BSc) before I studied Vet medicine. I'll inbox my number to you, so we can talk better and I can further assist you in anyway I can. Cheers |
DeMaestro1:First of all, I want you to calm down and put your mind at rest Sir. In as much as I would give you my number, I want you to have it in mind that you would still need to visit a registered Vet clinic. I would not want us to take chances. I'll inbox my number to you. |
Zeeknow3245:Good morning sir, before I responded to your question, I did a quick background check on your previous posts and found your journey to Vet med very interesting. Before I respond to your question, Sir permit me to digress a bit. Vet medicine is a very lucrative and knowledge exposing profession (as a Vet, you would learn so much about everything, and that gives you an edge in life). But we have two major issues in this profession namely; 1) STEREOTYPING 2) QUACKERY STEREOTYPING: Most people know very little about the Veterinary profession, hence tend to pass judgement based on hearsays and speculations. Hence you will hear things like; if you study Vet med, you'll be poor, Is it someone that has not eaten that would care about animals?, Nigerians don't care about animals, We don't have Vet clinics in Nigeria, Where do you want to work as a Vet, etc. Hence a lot of people get misled and I'm sad to tell you, this really affected Vet medicine's cut off points all over Nigerian universities and the psyche of students aspiring to be Vets. It would interest you to know that we earn THE SAME THING as our human counterpart, THE SAME ENTRY LEVEL as our human counterpart, which is generally higher than any other medical profession in Nigeria, but how many people knows that Sir if Vet med was as bad as some people say, I don't think the government would be stupid enough to approve the above.QUACKERY: Due to lucrativeness of the Veterinary profession, Many non-vets have seen Veterinary practice as a quick way of making money via quackery and the result has been disastrous. Although succor is on the way as the VCN has introduced a Unified Veterinary ID card, this I believe would go a long way in curbing quackery. FINALLY, On your question, large animal practice is largely based on location. For example in the south, small animal practice is more lucrative than large animal, while in the north, reverse is the case. In large animal practice, its better you are attached to a farm than for individual consultancy because most large animal owners are not quite rich and their payment for services is relative to the cost of the animal, hence you can't perform a 50,000 naira procedure on a goat of 15,000-20,000 naira, as a result may not be that lucrative except you are attached to an animal farm where they have a lot of these animals. I hope I've been able to do justice to your question and please feel free to engage me on further questions on any grey area. |
Henuell:Then in that case, you have nothing to fear. Over time it would get resolved. I hope I have been able to be of assistance !! |
Henuell:Good evening sir, I'm so sorry for what happened, but the information you gave me is kind of sketchy. I'll prefer you gave me a more detailed information on the situation, for example; is the area swollen? how painful is the area? etc. This would guide us in knowing the next step, for example, if there is a fracture or not. If the injury is not too severe, a mild analgesic and antiinflammatory would suffice or you can even allow it resolve on its own. I'll be on standby for further assistance. I hope this helps? |
dayjeee:Sent it, check your inbox |
Henuell:It depends on the breed and genetic makeup. Barking is not a sudden process, its a gradual process which usually starts around 7/8 weeks till around 16 weeks. I hope this helps !!! |
Henuell:My dear friend, my sincere advice is still for you to visit a vet clinic, if you've not visited. Your dog is still very young and needs a comprehensive medical check up and vaccination. As for the barking, be patient and give it time, although you can express your concerns during check up to the vet. If after that still no progress, we will figure out the next step. |
CrazyCrane:I get, if that be the case, then I'll personally advice ma that you should avoid mating. But if you feel you can bear the risk and cost, then there is no problem. But it should however be noted that, in dogs with this condition, the risk of complications is very high and CS is usually inevitable. |
CrazyCrane:I understand perfectly ma, We would have to weigh the pros and the cons. Did you get your dog specifically for breeding? or for companionship? or the two? The answer would guide us on the way forward. Due to the complications she is always having during birth, personally I would discourage mating, except under strict medical supervision throughout the duration of the pregnancy. But let me know your opinion so that we can work out something. |
CrazyCrane:Happy new year ma. In a standard vet hospital, you would be spending close to a 100,000 naira. This is the break down: Hysterotomy (The main surgery) 50,000 Hematinics (Blood supplements)15,000 Vitamin supplements 5,000 Elizabethan collar 7,000 Post surgical management 15,000 TOTAL 92,000 #NOTE: It may vary according to Location, but the price I quoted above is the standard price. I hope this helps!!! |
