I applied on the 13th April, online application for both my mother and my 8 month daughter and i got a replied from CIC just now that my daughter application was refused for PURPOSE OF VISIT AND FAMILY TIES, while my mum was refused for PURPOSE OF VISIT, TRAVEL HISTORY,PERSONAL ASSETS AND FINANCIAL STATUS, but i was called to undergo medical.

I am going for dual master for MBA and Master in international management. i have seen yesterday that a 8 yrs child was delay with the same reason as my daughter and also a wife and child denial to go with her husband. I think this an issue we need to solve for those affected because i cant imagine my self away from my daughter, but i am been sponsor by my husband.
My sister, i really dont know what to do now. Its going to be hard.

@lawmerchant, copied this on cic help centre/ website. Minor Children can study without study permit.

Can a minor child go to school in Canada without a study permit?
New rules for prospective international students are now in effect (as of June 1, 2014).
Read about these changes and how they may impact you.
Generally, minor children need to apply for a study permit from outside of Canada, if they want to go to study in Canada. However, a minor child can go to school without a study permit if:

one parent (biological or adoptive) is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; or
one parent (biological or adoptive) is permitted to study or work in Canada; or
neither parent is physically in Canada.

Was this answer useful?
Yes

Glory Halleujah!!

I thank God for everything and i believe it can only be by Him that this came about. Like i posted earlier I received passport request today.

So my timeline is:

Submitted online: May 27th
Biometrics: May 31st
Medical passed and passport request: July 19th

Even though my daughter's wasnt approved, i dont want to be ungrateful to God because of That. Its just a matter of short time and she will come. Infact I thank God especially that they didnt even delay mine becuase of her.

I want to thank everyone here. I read and reread this thread like kilode. My husband will be saying, you and Nairaland. He doesnt know this is where i get all my tactics/strategies from.

Great job people and i wish everyone God's speed. One love

Yes i included her birth certificates and all. My husband also wrote a letter of consent for her to go with me. He's her sponsor sef. A friend is asking me to appeal. What do you guys think
Updated:

The letter has downloaded well. The Reasons for her application refusal are family ties in Canada and country of residence and Purpose of visit.

Try and extract the reasons for her rejection.. better still, apply for the GCMS file to understand more about her rejection..

Medical mail dropped today and passport request. I hope no refusal after passport request, please oh my people

I applied with my 8yr old daughter but her application was refused and closed without reason. No box ticked. Upon all my plea on SOP that shes an only child and cannot stay without me. My joy is mixed.

Who has heard of this type before? Can i reapply for her? What can i do now?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by Sevenody: 5:18pm On Jul 19, 2016

Plss house when is humber college resuming for January session
Can you please go to Humber website and check and confirm for yourself? You want to take the word of someone on this forum as final? What if the person gives you a wrong answer? You are making a serious life decison based on hearsay. The person who will tell you about Humber resumption, do they work at Humber. Even if they are schooling there, they may not be up to date or correct.

My advise, please visit school sites for info on things like this.

Yes you can. All you need to do is log into your CIC online account and notify CIC about the change.

I'm not sure though about your statement that PGC is cheaper than Masters. It depends.
Well, the Masters I'm referring to is MBA which is usually run by Business Schools of the universities. And they are usually more expensive than the PGC programmes, at least the ones I looked at though.

Guys, I know one can change schools after getting to Canada. But can that change be different levels of study eg from Masters admission to PGC which by the way is a lot cheaper? Would that look suspicious?

There you have it. Thesoj was right, lots of people have gotten admission with less than 3.00 cgpa.
YES. They do. I have an MBA admission from Laurentian Uni. My Undergradute course was Agric Econs. Cgpa was 2.85. but after WES course-by-course evaluation, my recommended Cpga became 3.02 maybe bc it was a 5yr programme. Although I do have a lot of work experience, over 10yrs. I guess that was the positive thing. But then in my offer letter, the Laurentianuni packed so many foundational business courses that I have to do alongside the MBA which has made my credit load so much. Even though I indicated in my SOP that I've done some mgt proffesional courses. I guess they only consider your undergraduate courses, not any of these our naija professional courses.

Well my argument is that less than 2.9 can get Master admission in canada, in some circumstance. I may change when i get my TRV to
another sch since all those course credit load has made it very expensive. Thnaks

Yep, you can get a master's admission with that CGPA (though it would require an amazing application as well as a strategic choice of schools). uOttawa on their website somewhere states that they accept 2:2 for some programs (e.g. Electronic Business Technologies and some other programs). @MichaelFinn a long time ago (part 8, I think) got admission to uOttawa with a 2.54 CGPA. I can also imagine that some other schools with a 2:1 requirement may accept a 2:2 student with an extremely good application (excellent recommendation letters, relevant work experience, extraordinary SOP, personal contact with the admissions office, etc).

Your work is cut out for you, but you can do it!

What is your course of interest?

Hello

Did you go through any agency in getting your admission. I would like to apply for this course. Thanks
No i didn't. I sent the application myself, early December. Got a response less than 2weeks

Guys, I have already gotten admission in Humber college for PGC in global business mgt, with co-op options and a letter for coop work. however im also processing another admission at Laurentian University for an MBA. Im thinking an MBA may carry more weight for Visa applications. Wil it make a difference between MBA and PGC, also one is a full university and the other a college. Do advise.

what was your u.g course, going through Laurentian uni.(MBA) you will need to do GMAT, and meet up with there academic standard. Do you have working experience in managerial level?. Answer.....
My u.g course was Agric Economics and i have work experience (mid level managerial). I don't want to do that GMAT stuff. But on their site (Laurentian uni), they wrote they can waive GMAT for some applicants.

Please guys, do you think theres a tendency to give priority to applicants going for Masters in Universities more than post grad certificates programs in Colleges. I have a Humber admission offer (post grad cert in Global Bus Mgt) but i also want to apply for MBA in Laurentian Uni, sudbury. Do you think MBA will be more favorable to VO or it doesn't matter.
Please can anyone knowledgeable help here?

Knowledge gathering isn't age specific/bound
It all depends on how she presents her case/application (story) to the VO. That being said, not granting admission to certain adults (35 above in this case) could be Centennial College's policy (yes, the tendency of visa rejection for such adults may indeed be high) therefore, she should try other institutions.
Thank you.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Sevenody: 6:24am On Dec 11, 2015
Please centennial college replied that they don't give admission to anyone 35years and above because visa rejection is very high. The lady is applying for post grad studies. What are your thoughts on this. Do VOs reject visa applications from student older than 35yrs. Even post grad.
