collynzo2: What is the use of a power plant that produces just 100MW of electricity? This people should better embrace coal power plants and stop deceiving themselves. All the countries with stable electricity have coal as their major source of energy.

So you mean natural gas that combusts so much more efficiently, meaning less waste and pollution, is super-easy to transport (just lay the transport pipes from source to destination, control with valves, etc), requires much less physical effort but is merely wasted by gas flaring should be jettisoned for coal? If Nigeria had coal infrastructure built up for 100 years like the countries you mention, it might make sense but this is infrastructure that is virtually non-existent. If the countries like the US with huge coal plants had to make a choice between coal and gas years ago, they would have chosen gas! Some of you are just too ignorant to study or learn anything!

I'm glad you enjoyed going on strike for 11 months! But i can assure you that majority of people dont. The thing that amuses me about Ife students and Alumni is that you guys think that constant Aluta without no justification is a good thing.Thats precisely what i could not stand about that school!! Every Session, each SUG government must have something to fight about.Very Stupid and immature students! So all Aluta in the middle of nowhere in Ife,what has it achieved ?!It has cured the corruption in Naija abi ? Ife students want constant electricity, water, lawns to be mowed everything to be in perfect condition and then they dont want to pay anything in fees.Afterwards they finish and the go pay 12,000 pounds a year for MSc in England!
All of you hailing Tony Fash, were you there when he was begging all over the school, him and Obe Sere for them to take him back after expulsion ?! When he was wandering all over Lagos, looking unkempt like a tout ? No,all you you had completed your degrees and moved on with your lives!!

What is this one saying? You see, people like you are REALLY ignorant! You would rather submit to oppression, rather than insist you be treated with RESPECT and get your fair rights at any cost! Well today, I am more than certain I am way ahead of bottom suckers, like you who will teach your children to be boy - boy, like you their fathers! For your information, I will say confidently that a lot of students, not just me, will find something useful to do with their time. Do you think everyone just did whatever they liked and ran all around the place like headless chickens? Well, it was the culture in Ife that if you wanted to persuade the majority of the students to your point of view, you came to congress and go up to address the gathering marshalling your points to convince us. Lilly-livered people like you have even no chance up there and I don't care what you think about that. Well, I finished from one of the Engineering programmes, started working the first month after graduation, before service, with about 4-5 job options and when I left Nigeria, I didn't come here as a refugee or run-away fugitive hiding from the cops. I started working 3 weeks after moving to the West (and one of the best countries here), my salary was about 1 M / month within 1 year, so what do you have to say about that? So the culture of "Aluta" you think is a derogatory thing is really an intellectual, vibrant grasp of the issues, powerful communication and standing for what you believe in - with others! I am sure you have never stood for anything except following the crowd! Do you know what FREE people did to be free? Did you read about US History or you think they are what they are today by being boy - boy, gbewudani to the British Crown?

devour129: yes o we did enjoy cult-free campus although that allowed lecturers to harass us anyhow but I still prefer a cult-free school .the likes of dr akindele etc

You gotta love Ife! You are very right! I don't think you could even walk at 1 am on most streets in Nigeria, for distances as far as BOO 'C' from Awo! Sure, the antecedents and sacrifices of those other students were very crucial for the cult-free Ife I passed through! The culture of vibrancy continued and despite the attempts at repression, it never happened during my time. Yes, we had long strikes and at one time I think we were home for about 11 months! grin grin shocked shocked Good thing was I was working then, so any strike like this is back to work for me! That culture of esteeming knowledge above propaganda, confidence, communication and calmness under extreme pressure is really paying off till date! grin grin I am sure the experience is the same for MOST OAU students!

"E jade e je ka bu ra wa oo".

Everyday I would spend hours arguing International Politics I was the only one not affiliated to a Political party Before they went into campus politics, Burkina, Revolution, Saint, 3A's, Fresh prince, Osborne CJ etc used to be sparring partners.

They invited me to join pacesetters But I declined cos that was one of the fastest ways to get expelled

Chai! "E jade e je ka bu ra wa oo". grin grin Even when there was no lights, students will deliberately shine their touch lights to the opposing blocks to cause wahala! If Moz chics walk through Awo, na wahala! Everyday, you must hear "ta lo n jo na o" when you smell burned beans! grin grin

In my final year, I was alloted room 31, Faj. I sold it shap shap and go buy space for Awo, where I had stayed from year 1-3.

I only slept in Faj for one night(with a friend during vacation period) and one night at PG (with another friend during break when school was dry) throughout my Ife years. Awo thru and thru.

I never liked Faj, honestly. I studied sometimes at Faj Cafe. Awo, is the most rugged, goddamned place anyone could live in Ife man! grin grin Omo, come see debate inside rooms from evening till early morning! Serious intellectual arguments and counter-argument with everyone so fired-up and feisty about their points of view! I lived in Block 2 but man I no too like that place! dolphinife: I can say it with every form of modesty that OAU is the onyl university in Nigeria, apparently government owned university that is CULT-FREE. OAU is the only university in Nigeria up to this present moment that every students is a stakeholder in maintaining peace and order in the campus.

Countless times without numbers that the SECURITY COMMITTEE OF THE STUDENT UNION went to arrest cultists even outside the campus and i was a member then.

OAU is the only university in Nigeria that gives you the liberty to express yourself without anybody intimidating you or forcing you to coercion. Throughout my 4 years studies in OAU, i have never heard that a cultist killed or kidnap any students. That's the kind of fresh breeze we have up til date in OAU.

Thank you guy! This is why it is annoying! Tell me which schools in Nigeria you will walk from Awo to Health Sciences/Pharmacy/BOO 'C' at 12, am, 1 am, ... 3 am by yourself and nothing will happen, even when there is no light? That is about 20 - 30 minutes at dark hours! All the way to Ajose? Ife never towed that boy-boy, follow-follow attitude of a lot of Nigerian schools then and today!

A thief was caught stealing, the compromised police stood aside doing the bidding of their oga at the top, what do you expect? Jungle justice! They were some serious hits and I wondered what he did to deserve such mauling until I realized he brought it upon himself. In life, always count the cost before you do something silly. A lot of people could use that advice in Nigeria. If Amaechi or his lieutenants read this, it is time for him to up his game several notches. Keep forming and strengthening useful alliances, one day it COULD save him in even major ways! Stand on the path of right, truth is a strong defence. Finally, be extra careful anytime the retardeen is travelling or moving anywhere, he should notice that he plans and executes evil anytime he is moving. Do not fly any planes or helicopters, they could shot down or rigged with explosives. Stay in Rivers and do the job you are elected to do! The retardeen's destruction is coming really fast!

Even if oil was a major factor, there are several other complementary major factors too! One war like that has laid down a marker and nipped several wars in the bud.

and when you cast ur vote for fashola + buhari it will not be borne of ethnic consideration?
As far as we can tell every governor + politician claims to be the best in meeting the needs of their constituent, fashola + buhari are entitled to claim how good they are,but as far as nigeria is concerned its just a claim.

FYI there are folks in this forum that claim that Abacha of all people was the best leader nigeria has ever had.

Ol-boy, when I vote (if I vote, really) tribal considerations WILL NOT be a factor!

If you have any objective facts post it but answer the following questions:

1. Which State is mostly "like Nigeria" in terms of demographics and complexity?
2. Which State has the most challenging society to govern?
3. The most populous, infrastructure hog to support the teeming populace?
4. Which State has made the most progress since 1999 ALONE!?
5. Which state's economy has grown the most since 1999 ALONE?
6. Which state has shown the most vibrant, locally and internationally recognized leadership?
7. Who is the elected governor of that state?

If you have any bit of honesty, the answers are clear for not even your retardeenic governor Jonathan can boast of any achievement for a population less than 2 M since he was in government in Bayelsa. While you see nothing wrong in someone who has not achieved anything significant using the same standards of measurement, you question the guy who is acknowledged to be so far ahead of almost every other governor in virtually every aspect of leadership. If you find someone else, advice the APC or ask such a person to run and test his popularity.

Buhari's records speak for him. IBB, OBJ, Yaradua plus your retardeenic president have not found even one financial corruption case to have him answer after several years! Sure they know something clueless mouths like yours do not know. You were maybe a baby during his military stint as HOS but Nigeria has not been more disciplined since those days! While he will not be a military president, Nigeria needs a leader who can stand VERY strongly against corruption and is proven to be incorruptible, has the respect of his people and proven leadership skills. If you can find any better combination, that can garner a vote of 5 M then tell Nigerians! BTW, it is a no brainer, regardless of how you feel, elections is a game of numbers. A candidate who has the potential to help Nigeria at this time when we have become a joke internationally and a combination that can sweep the polls in the north, the South West and sway common sensical voters in the MB and SS is all that is required at this time. I have not included SE because it is the only region that would always cut off its nose to spite its face - any president is not good enough if he is not ibo, yet the only man Okorocha that appears to be doing something, anything is castigated the most by Ibos for reaching across the aisles to other parts of Nigeria. The joke is on you anyway! Look, if all the APC accomplishes is extend its rich to other states in the North, West, MB, SS, SE, etc and actually improve the lives of those states in far reaching and better ways that PDP never did, and they are able to sustain the vibrancy of their party, it's only a matter of time before Nigerians elect the party at the center. You losers can stew in your backwardness! grin grin

Just watch and question where the critics come from! Not the people with even an open mind (50/50) but those who already decided the future of the party today! grin grin Soon, they will say Nigerians should "GIVE" them the presidency while working against every step and atom of progress! If you don't like the APC, then form your own party! No one can question Tinubu and Buhari at all for at least, they DID SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM! What have you done? AD was compromised. AC was formed. Then, ACN was formed winning more votes than ever. ANPP was coming up until Buhari's running mate in 2007, Ezeoke, compromised and sold out to Yaradua even before the judgement of the Supreme Court on the 2007 elections! Undeterred, he formed CPC again, he tried even more! Now, Tinubu and his advisers and lieutenants have led and brokered the formation of an even larger party but critics here are still unable to register even a one man company or get a decent job that pays their bills without stealing or cutting corners doing contracts. u r trying to say ACN, CPC controlled states dont pay as much levies? pls give example.

Oga, don't misunderstand me please. I did not say they don't pay and I don't live in Naija. However, were that the case, my folks would have mentioned it in my hearing. However, levies, taxes, etc are the norm for good infrastructure and development only that they must be used appropriately and judiciously. The taxes from my own check here runs into hundreds of thousands of naira but when I think about it, I can't complain too much! I have the option of moving to another state and trade off something else but it doesn't mean there won't be taxes there! The case over here is different from Naija anyway. The important point is that the taxes are used so well you can see the effect yourselves and your leaders know that should they appear to take you for granted, they will most certainly be voted out during the next election!
Politics / Re: Multiple Levies In Abia State. Somebody Help!!! by sexkilzaphull: 5:55pm On Jul 09, 2013
So after all these complaints, what are you gonna do? Is there any magic that will improve the lot of Abia when another PDP governor obviously supported by Orji, perhaps a current member of his cabinet becomes the next governor? Well, if you people want your lot to be different, vote for progressive leadership like ACN (now APC) gave the SW. It is not by force but please do not complain to us about high taxes not being used to do much if you vote for the usual PDP thieves!
