Who snapped them away? |
I am not in support of this policy, now before you start talking about people not wanting to pay taxes, consider the following: 1) Most e-commerce websites already include 5% VAT in their charges, if the money is not remitted to the government, then they should take it up with those entities. 2) Appointing banks as collectors will lead to multiple taxations as VAT will be deducted from your account irrespective of whether the online business entity already includes a VAT in the charge. Consumers will end up paying 10% effective VAT per transaction. 3) Did Mr Fowler consider the drive towards a cashless economy before making this pronouncement? One of the benefits of a cashless economy is easy traceability which reduces corruption as the money trail is very easy to follow, what exactly is Mr Fowler's motive? |
akejujoe:Wrong! The age of consent as stated in the penal code that runs in Northern Nigeria is 14 years. Busola was not a minor according to that law |
Coolabbie:Oh God, now that you have seen the content of his/her heart and his/her intent to steal public funds, kindly maintain the status quo until he/she repents |
dignity33:With the exception of the Max series, Boeing 737 is actually a very safe airplane. There is a reason it is referred to as the workhorse of the aviation industry and is the best selling aircraft in history. Yes, it is relatively old, and depending on the series, it is largely manual when compared to A320's fly by wire tech. |
FRESHG:Very insensitive comment! So they deserve to be killed because they do not share your Sunni beliefs? I weep for this nation |
yesloaded:A lot of people don't realise that oil and gas projects are invoiced in USD and some of these projects run into hundreds of millions of USD. I once worked for a small company that executed a $20 million project for an IOC. profit was more than $3 million, abeg convert that to naira make your head burst small |
onegig:You cannot compare a 10 year old Camry to a new car, a 2 or 3 year old camry, yes. I have a 2014 Nissan that I purchased new in 2013, the car is almost 6 years old and the only thing I have changed is engine oil and brake pad. Can your 10 year old Corolla or camry beat that? |
jrusky:The operational cost of mobilising police, vehicles and "thugs" far outweigh the potential value of seized clothes, chairs and refrigerators. It would have been more logical to go after stashed monies, buildings and lands. |
radiokilla:I never said to buy from Jumia. Buy from the webpages of the dealerships you would have walked into. I bought my wife's phone from slot's website, I was not even in Lagos at the time and the phone was delivered the same day. |
Foldimate's laundry folding machine. it costs about $1000 and will not remove wrinkles, thanks but I will save my money until they develop a combo model that will wash, dry, iron, and fold my laundry. |
radiokilla:Better still, order directly from the webpage of their major distributor. Fouani (LG and Hisense), slot, and all the major distributors have webpages you can order from and they deliver to you. I cannot recall the last time I bought a major item offline. |
This will never happen in Nigeria where the President has the powers of a King, prime minister, and Emperor rolled into one. The only way to move this country forward and ensure that corruption is reduced to ALARP is to rewrite our constitution to reduce the powers of our elected officials, especially the President and the Governors. We need to strengthen the police, civil service, para-military and the judiciary by giving them the necessary tools needed to discharge their functions. there must be laws that ensure swift consequences for any "his or her Excellency" that tries to alter the process. |
ken6488:Wrong! It is an offshore (off the coast) oil field. I know a Drillship worked on the field in late 2017 |
Maybe I am dumb, but I find it hard to understand how 4 guys with cutlasses will overpower two trained policemen with AK-47 assault rifle. the one time the situation actually requires them to be "trigger happy", they failed badly. |
Yes, the man was most likely an abusive husband, but the wife goofed badly and will now be charged with murder. The solution to violence is not more violence! There are government agencies and NGOs that are dedicated to dealing with abusive partners and providing assistance to victims of domestic abuse, she should have used the services of such agencies instead of deciding to "teach him a lesson" Now, the court will most likely sentence her to death, the kids will become orphaned, and all their belongings will be shared amongst family members who will leave nothing behind for the kids. |
so because you did not collect a salary you decided no one else would. Deut 24:15 Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it. Otherwise, they may cry to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin. These idiots don't know God detests owing wages, He considers it sin and would visit any such Governor or employer with His wrath |
Elvis778:That one had a lot of politics and a sprinkling of pragmatism. I intend to write about it someday, maybe during my annual leave, that is, if the Ijebu in me doesn't make me pick up a small maintenance project during the leave. I too like money |
I think we should all be interested in his reasons for withholding assent to the bills. Now I have followed his reasons and I will give a summary here, I do not have the time to give reasons for rejection of individual bills. 1) A lot of the bills sent to him have clauses that seek to either create some sort of levy or convert a stated percent of existing taxes or levies for there use. Signing such bills will either further "punish" the citizenry or diminish government revenues, thus reducing what can be applied towards capital projects. 2) A lot of the submitted bills seek to duplicate functions of already existing government agencies, hence it will be more pragmatic to seek a revamp of such agencies. 3) Clerical errors.... Yeap, you read that right. They just didn't take the time to properly edit the bills despite the millions they pocket in monthly allocations. Now you may ask why can't presidency just edit the errors and sign? Well, it turns out, you cannot do that to formal documents that mist go through a thorough documents control process. I am a project manager and if you send me document with errors in it, I simply issue a CRS (Company response sheet) wherein I will state the errors and recommend fixes. I am not allowed to edit what you have written! It is then left to you to make the corrections and submit a revised edition of the document. Yes, the bills may have good intents, but that is never enough in business or governance. You must get the details right or you will not get the desired results. |
When I was out of a job, I became an emergency IT solution provider, all na hustle so long as it is legit. TTT may God continue to bless your hustle |
I have a feeling APC has learnt from the Saraki event of 2015 and will take steps to prevent a repeat. I see APC using the security agencies to deny PDP access to NASS during the election of leaders, that is APC's joker here. |
Yomboy4ever:I think it is. APC should consolidate on the gains in both region and if you ask me, I will like to see them give the ticket to Dave Umahi (he is APC at heart), but I am not sure the ticket can go to a defector because of a certain Baba Oloye. |
in the spirit of fairness and in recognition of the inroads made into SS and SE regions, I think APC should adopt the following zoning formula: SP = NE DSP = SS Speaker = SE Deputy Speaker = NC Femi Gbajabiamila can retain the majority leader position. Midday slump happening at 9:00 am... crazy day ahead Anything to avoid the emails |
Gandollar:Well, I said that is the ideology I believe in and that APC shares this ideology. Execution is a different ball game. Also, note that my belief in their system does not mean I will not criticise their execution if need be. |
Gandollar:I am a social democrat, I share APC's belief in big government and high taxes |
SillyMods:The topic today is Gandollar, not any of those mentioned, plus I don't support any any of the aforementioned persons because I am pro APC. As a well brought up omoluabi, there is no way I will support a common thief - caught on camera stuffing dollars into his babariga - even if we share the same political ideology |
Thugs! I am with Emir Sanusi on this, we cannot have thieves in government. Gandollar na barawo and should have been disqualified by APC to start with. |
Ikinternational:APC moved towards Ndigbo by presenting candidates for elections, but sadly all except a few NASS candidates were rejected. Since 1999, we have had 4 presidents, two of them ex-governors. The other two were very popular nationwide. We have also had 4 VPs, 2 were ex-governors, one was elected a governor and a vice president at the same time, while the last one was nominated by a powerful ex-governor who could not be on the ticket because of religious considerations. So you see, a Governor's influence cannot be discounted in the Nigerian political space. Okorocha would have been a good option, but we all saw how that cookie crumbled. APC is constrained to give the 2023 ticket to SW or SS (Kachukwu or Oshobaba). There is no political heavy weight from the SE in APC and they won't give the ticket to a defector (Saraki don teach them lesson) |
nwanyionitsha:Agreed, but which SE candidate will APC field? By May 29, there will be no APC Governor in the east. Or are you implying that APC should not field a candidate because SE wants yo be president? |
naijapips04:The website you referred to has only one content, you most likely designed the thing. Give me a more credible source and stay off insults (and drugs too) then maybe we can agree on something |
naijapips04:I am only throwing your words back at you. You claimed you had screenshots from INEC, now it is from your laptop. I understand how servers work - the basics at least, I am a Project Manager (PMP), not a Techie - and I am only drawing attention to a flaw in your supposed INEC screenshot. Let's even assume you had the access to download data that is not publicly available from INEC servers, how do we trust the values you posted seeing that they may have been edited on your unlicensed Excel. PS: I am not a Buhari supporter, I voted YPP even though I am usually pro APC |
naijapips04:the claim you made was that the screen shared was from INEC, why change that now. And nope, I did not learn anything from you. I doubt you are competent in any of the areas that are of interest to me. |
