kabe1: I will not advice Nigeria to go for any advanced "Turkish" system.
They are only Turkish in branding, not practice.
1. How does any of that matter if the drone is able to achieve such extreme levels of success and almost single-handedly changed the tides of wars in Syria, Libya, Iraq and now Azerbaijan?
2. Turkey is working towards fully indeginizing all critical components across all of its drone classes. Typical example is when Canada suspended shipments of optics about two weeks ago, it took Turkey less than a week to integrate and test new optics from Aselsan with very comparable results to the Canadian one. Ditto for engines, Turkey is already working on one with Rocketsan and Aselsan and has just signed a defence agreement with Ukraine on further engines amongst other things, including for its next generation fighter jet currently in development.
In conclusion, Turkish defense tech is moving at an exceptional pace and has already proven itself. Nigeria would gain a lot by establishing a working partnership. Sanctions on Turkey's defense industries seem to be having the exact opposite effect.
Aselsan CATS EO/IR was integrated to the Bayraktar TB2 UAV. The first test flights with MAM-L munitions was done and carried out the first strikes using CATS' targeting system.pic.twitter.com/e1YXVvIenJ
Azerbaijani forces have defeated the Armenian army and taken control of the second largest city in Nargano-Karabahk, next objective would be the capital.
Footage shows Armenian soldiers engaging Azerbaijani soldiers.
If only Nigeria would invest in buying the Bayraktar, with MAM-L and MAM-M missiles . IMO, that would even be better than the Tucanos. The Turkish drones hands down won this war for the Azeris and it did so in just over a month.
fabselad: The Armenian government just declared they are ready to declare a cease fire. They never did such in the last 2 conflicts
They're getting slaughtered. Judging from the seemingly unending drone strike videos coming out of the region, it seems that the Azeris have succeeded in neutralizing air defences and are now going after armored vehicles, artillery, command and control, logistics and infantry groups both day and night, leaving the ground softened up for a better ground offensive . No military can withstand such levels of attrition and utter destruction.
The Azeris entered this war extremely ready. They even had WW2 Era AN-2 bi planes converted to UAV's into sacrificial aircraft to expose Armenian air defences in the first few days.
With both infantry tactics, drones and EW, Turkey has re-drawn the rules of conventional warfare in 2020 from Syria, Iraq, Libya and now Azerbaijan.
kabe1: I think drones have been effective in this conflict. However quite a number of those drones have been shot down.
Azerbaijan has lost considerable number of armour, helicopters and hundreds of soldiers.
Oga! lets face it, the Armenians are outmatched. Don't take my word for it, the Azeris dont just put out statements like the Armenians, they release concrete video evidence. I've seen multiple tanks, MLRS, infantry trucks, tunnels, air defenses get taken out. Its no different from Syria or Libya, its a slaughter. Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/
Very raw footage. This shows how much modern conventional warfare has changed with Azeri Bayraktar UCAV's and Heron loitering munitions that the Armenian seem to be able to do nothing about . Also, Azeri artillery seems accurate AF, probably using UAV's for sporting.
This shows how any modern conventional force is useless without good air defences and solid EW capabilities.
Armenian soldier recording his own death. This is what NA units deal with routinely in the NE. Seriously war is hell and nothing like you see in the movies.
With the videos coming out, Azerbaijan is currently wrecking Armenian positions, tanks and air defences using Turkish made Bayraktar drones. The drone has already proven itself in Libya, Iraq and Syria. NAF should really consider this for the proposed expanded drone fleet. Will be a serious force multiplier.
