Akainzo:

All you said above is hogwash as you definitely do not know what you are talking about. The Oro is a cult and their is the ritual performed by the cult.

No it is painful, that people like you do not know/understand their own tradition and are rushing to propagate half truths. If you are indeed Yoruba, you do need to go back home and ask the elders to explain Oro for you.

Indeed you have the right translation/meaning of the word "Ajanaku", however used in the context of an Oro ritual, it is not that literal translation that is being referred to. Note also, Oro does not come out to celebrate the death of anybody that is not its member, it is not a praise singing/worship group rather a sacred and highly secluded one. That most notable people get such honours, is not because they were wealthy but because they are members of the group.

So if you cannot point or allude to any member of the cult dying in that street, do not attempt to write off such Oro ritual as mere coincidense.
Don't mind them, they don't know what they are saying

Health / 6 Simple Tips To Help You Lose Belly by Shadydamsel(f): 11:41pm On Jul 09, 2013
There are no guarantees with weight loss. It's largely
genetic. But you can help yourself out. These tips can
help you lose weight overall, including from around your
midsection.
Eat breakfast
Before your body can run efficiently, it needs fuel. By
eating within 90 minutes of waking up, you kick-start
your metabolism. People who eat breakfast in the
morning generally have more energy throughout the day
and make better food choices. (See Ask the Experts:
Why Should I Eat Breakfast?)
Eat regularly
Eating small meals every 3 or 4 hours helps keep your
metabolism running at a steady pace. Your body can
only use so much energy at a time, and eating 5 or 6
small meals instead of 3 large ones makes it easier to
burn off calories instead of storing them as fat.
Increase fiber
Fiber certainly has staying power, and it will keep you
full for longer periods of time. Sourcs of fiber include
fruits, vegetables and whole grain products (whole
wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa, beans and lentils).
There are many options to choose from.
Reduce intake of simple sugar
Simple sugars contribute to body fat gain because they
are generally high in calories. By avoiding foods like
soda, ice cream, cakes, cookies, and candy bars, you
can cut out many unnecessary calories. Fresh fruit,
dried fruit, fruit juice, and frozen yogurt can satisfy
your sweet tooth with natural sugars. (See 5 Foods
and 3 Tips to Fight Sugar Cravings.)
Eat healthy fats
Healthy fats—found in olive oil, nuts, nut butters,
salmon, tuna and avocado—can help fill you up and keep
you full. Including these fats in your diet every day (in
moderation) can help you maintain your weight. (See
How to Incorporate Healthy Fats Into Your Diet.)
Be smart when eating out
If you eat out frequently, make smart choices by using
the available resources. Apps such as GoMeals and
CompareChains provide nutritional information for many
restaurants. Also, most restaurants post nutritional
information on their websites. Plan your meal before
you leave the house to make sure you pick healthy
choices.

Family / Re: Wrong Reasons Why People Marry by Shadydamsel(f): 3:35pm On Jul 02, 2013
remecy: Marriage is school for two person where you never graduate from. Admmission into the great institue should not include any of the list below PLEASE.

1. Good food. – Sorry, you don’t need a wife to eat good food. House-help or fast food can help.

2. sex – This is part of reason for marriage but should not be the only reason.

3. Solution partner – It is true that you need someone you can pour your heart to at all time. But you need to know that the other person also needs your care. If all you want is only yourself to be heard without considering the other person, then what you need is a counsellor, not a husband or wife.

4. Beauty – Never marry because someone is beautiful or handsome! Beauty fades. Simplicity is the key, however you must be attracted to the person.

5. Money – You may have financial need but marrying someone just because he/she is rich won’t sustain the marriage

6. Pressure -
“I am getting old”, “My friends are all married”, “My family are complaining” – These and many more are the excuses some people marry!. But remember that you are the one that will live with that spouse and not your parents or friends.

7. Spirituality – “He speaks in tongues”, “He attend church regularly!”, we know them by their fruits and not by their being religious.

8. Conversion – I will change him/her after marriage. 99% chances are that he/she will not change after marriage if they didn’t change before marriage.

9. Fantasy – Some just get married because others are married and they don’t want to be left out.

10. Low Self Esteem – Some people feel they would not get someone to marry them, else they quickly rush in with anyone that comes their way, not knowing them to an extent.

zetdee:

Gbawe gbawe gbawe.. you always raise this Lucky Dube story as prove of the unfair hatred of Nigerian in South Africa, the context of the quote has been explained to you before but you still insist, which i understand. The people who shot lucky Dube was a Mozambique and Zimbabwean national.

"Just to set the record straight on the
this quote that is quoted without
being used in its full context.
When one of the killer was asked in
court if he didn't know that he was
shooting at Lucky Dube,he said No he
thought he was a Nigerian
drugdealer.Rossentenville is
notoriuolsy known for high
population of Nigerians who deals in
drugs.So the killers thought they
where robbing a drug dealer and
thought they will get lot of money
from him since they know that drug
dealers carries a lot of money on
them.
I don't think it was based on pure
hatred for Nigerians, they saw a flashy
car in the place that is notoriously
known for high drug trafficing mostly
run by Nigerians, they decided to rob
it thinking that the owner who is a
'drugdealer' will be carrying lot of
drugs cash on him,they demanded
money and he said he didn't have
and they started shooting at him."
wenti dis one dey talk sef

A pastor was preaching in the church one day, when he remembered that one of the c'o'cks he was rearing in the church premises had gone missing, so he asked the congregation;

"Who has a c'o'ck?" ...All the men got up...

'No i mean who has seen a c'o'ck?' ...All the women got up...

'No no who has seen a c'o'ck that isn't theirs?' ...Half of the women in the church got up...

'Oh! For goodness sake, who has seen my c'o'ck?' ...All the choir girls got up...

The Pastor's wife fainted..
