Dear All,

Please I need your advise. I got my US visa for Phd on the 8th june and got another PhD offer with full scholarship in UNSW Sydney on the 9th june. I need to buy health insurance for me and my wife before the school refund mine once I start my program.

The school has sent me CoE already but my entrance period is feb 2022.

Now I am planning to go to US first in August do 1 year with them and commence my visa processing in November or December so that I can raise some funds for the health insurance.

Hope this move wont be a red flag for me and my wife?

I need your advice on this and the first question is between Canada and Australia which one has the easiest PR processing?

Now my talk. I have gotten Ph.D. with full funding in the US, CANADA, and Australia. I have gotten US visa already but I want a place where I can get my PR faster and my wife can also be with me faster and work. I know both AUS and Canada got PR and unlimited work time for my wife but I want to know the place with the easiest and quick PR collection.

Congrats, there shouldn't be an issue with your visa application as DHA highly regard PhD/research students. The issue should be aftermath of PhD, what next? It maybe challenging for you if you're unable to secure a job as a research fellow, lecturer or something that has to do with your PhD directly as no one will like to employ you with PhD due to wages because less qualify people can do same thing.
Base on my own opinion, there's more opportunities for research students in USA than Australia but you may get a PR or citizenship quicker in Australia and make more money but consider jobs opportunities after your program.

Thank you all for the good job. I just got a PhD offer with scholarship in UNSW and would appreciate if someone can guide on how to package my visa application better.

I just got my US visa for PhD also but I prefer Auss. Also I have got some travel history, all for study purpose. Equally, I have a PhD offer with Scholarship in Canada but would reject it if the visa for Auss is sure.

I would appreciate your kind guidance.

ME: To be very honest, it was hard making the decision because all the schools gave me full funding. However, Miami’s program is focused on Social Justice and Equity, a topic I am interested in as it will enable provide support for students particularly underrepresented students when I come back to Nigeria. Also, I love the theory to practice approach that the program adopts. I got an assistantship that covers the total cost of attendance, the funding includes tuition waiver, meal plan, accommodation, phone bills and monthly stipends.

Why not Ph.D since you have the money. All you need is to get a SUpervisor and you are good to go even if you don't have funding.

If I am correct, you do not reside in Nigeria right? The whole idea is that you should leave Canada after your program. So provide evidence of ties to the country that you currently reside in.

Other gurus in the house should also assist here please.

You need to establish strong ties back home, so you can convince the VO that you will return to your home country. If you have landed properties, a land, or you can get a deed of transfer from a relative, you can also include your car documents, your pension statement - this shows that you will return home because your pension account can be fully accessed upon retirement in home country. A study leave from your employer would have helped with employment ties, but get others.

Just get as much ties as possible.

Depending on the application you submit first once you declare your travel history and Visa applications. I think you re good to go. Just be honest to the VO

I got china visa rejection for a program that was fully funded by them in 2019 while I was still doing my masters in malaysia. can I add that also? I also got a saudi Arabia visa approved and stamped for a conference in 2020 could not go due to covid. do I need to add this too?

I will suggest you send a mail to the graduate school requesting for the official offer letter.
Some schools are aware of the May 15deadline for fall. For example my graduate school sent me a mail concerning that and advice I apply for my study permit.

I told my advisors and they are fastracting it and they put me in the loop of the communication.

I doubt that, However you should submit your application early. You can apply for Canada study permit and USA at the same time, Canada is an online application which means your passport will be with you when you go for USA Visa appointment.

You can use the 1004 marriage certificate. However if you want to apply for SOWP for your wife the marriage registry would be needed.

Okay, Thank you. Is it possible to get my Visa In 1 month? this is because I have US funded Phd too and If Canada do anyhow I can always fall back on my US.

The department only sent me admission/funding and said I should wait for the graduate school to send me the generic offer letter. Also, my marriage certificate is from 1004 mosque and was told that I need that of registry. So I am so that is the main thing delaying me. I need to be sure I can use 1004 mosque for marriage certificate.

Please is it still possible to get my visa for fall 2021 if I apply after May 15. I have a fully funded Ph.D.
