As for your question on Mawlid Al nabbiyy, yes some misguided folks among the Muslims do celebrate it but a far larger percentage says it is an innovation as such they don't celebrate it.

Christmas is very different from new year's. One is to celebrate Jesus amongst Christians or to celebrate relationships in the western world, the other is to usher a new year according to the solar calender. Muslims should not care about celebrating either holidays.
