Essential services are on too in Nigeria
Movement of food & other essential products were not stop. Didn't u read the president text??
What safety measures have been put in place to safeguard the lives of food suppliers and vendors? What about safety kits for them?

I just want other States to take note and work towards this to prevent a catastrophe.

Did you read actions going on in other States? Must everything be about the President?

Some States have task force breaking shops selling food and restaurants.

But developed countries like USA & Italy are adopting the lock down approach? If highly safety guidelines is effective, do you think Italy will shut down? Or u want our case to get to their level before we lock down?
These countries are on lock down but the medical and food supply chains are going on. The supermarkets are on. They have strict guidelines for it to take place. It is not just prison yard for everyone to starve to death and no medicine for babies.
HealthRe: 5 Things That Will Happen Due To Lockdown In Nigeria by SharpJoe: 9:19am On Mar 30, 2020
Even Lagos with their 10 billion loot is yet to start widespread testing for Covid-19 infected victims.
HealthRe: 5 Things That Will Happen Due To Lockdown In Nigeria by SharpJoe: 9:18am On Mar 30, 2020
All these social distancing and lock down means nothing if we are not testing and isolating infected ones. Then we can go on with life with high safety guidelines especially for those within the medic and food supply chain.

It is baffling if we feel we can lock the virus down.

Social distancing means nothing without testing and isolating infected ones.
PoliticsRe: Coronavirus: Obiano Asks Buhari To Give Him N1 Billion To Fight COVID-19 by SharpJoe: 9:13am On Mar 30, 2020
Obiano is right. Other States need funds to prevent and stop the spread of the virus in their States. They need to equip hospitals. They need gears for health workers. They need sanitizers and masks for citizens.

There is need to set up testing labs and provide testing kits for large population to determine the amount of spread. Sharing money to only Lagos and Abuja is nothing short of idiocy.

With the way the virus spread in a country as large as America, it should make us concern with the possibility of a widespread of the virus.

Social distancing means nothing without testing and isolating infected ones
PoliticsRe: The Act That Gives The President The Power To Lock Down Lagos, Ogun & FCT. by SharpJoe: 6:40am On Mar 30, 2020
To the best of my knowledge, little or no testing is going on in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa and Delta States. Yet most of the National revenues came from this States. The neglect is too much. We are talking of a virus that has taking over 10,000 lives in Italy alone in few months.

We need urgent testing for Covid-19 to know the true magnitude of the spread in the country.
PoliticsRe: The Act That Gives The President The Power To Lock Down Lagos, Ogun & FCT. by SharpJoe: 6:38am On Mar 30, 2020
We need testing in large amount all over the nation to determine the gravity of things. We need more testing labs in the country. We need a medical treatment procedure like those going on in other countries.

We need protective gears for health workers. We need protective masks for citizens.

Social distancing means nothing without testing and isolating infected ones.

The Food and Drug Administration on Sunday issued an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, decades-old malaria drugs championed by President Donald Trump for coronavirus treatment despite scant evidence.

The agency allowed for the drugs to be "donated to the Strategic National Stockpile to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible," HHS said in a statement, announcing that Sandoz donated 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to the stockpile and Bayer donated 1 million doses of chloroquine.

We needs loads of testing kits around Nigeria. No testing labs in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa and Delta States. We need testing, isolation and treatment for infected ones. We need medicines and protective gears for medical staff. We need masks and sanitizers for the populace in large amounts.

The talk now is how are we going to test Nigerians in large numbers to determine how far the spread has gone. How are we going to protect health workers with safety gears and kits. What local provision is taking place to keep people safe. No general masks.
PoliticsRe: COVID-19: Dino Melaye Says Buhari's Movement Ban Is Undemocratic by SharpJoe:

If not Dino should hide his head in shame.

Malaria is a liver and blood disease, typhoid affects the intestines and blood.
Covid-19 affects the lungs and may affect the heart as well.

There is nothing linking malaria/typhoid with Covid-19 apart from the claim that chloroquine helps in the treatment of Covid-19 symptoms.

Your belief is wrong and misleading, it leads to rumors being spread and mistrust between medical professionals and the public. When that happens people avoid treatment and may die or cause the disease to spread further.

Think before you post something because people might stake their lives on it.
Soper later said he was aware of research in Europe indicating that typhoid could have “asymptomatic carriers” — people walking around shedding germs who never appeared to get sick. He suspected Mallon might be one of them. All in all, Soper claimed she had caused two dozen illnesses and one death.

In March 1907, Soper found the Park Avenue house where Mallon was then employed and demanded that she give him samples of her feces, urine and blood. She threw him out of the house. Next, he went to health department officials with his theory. Eventually, she was dragged kicking and cursing from the home by police and forced to give specimens at a hospital.

She was full of the typhoid bacteria.

Instead of Buhari to talk of wide-spread testing, he talking of school feeding programme.

If the virus can spread so fast in the whole of America, Nigeria is too small for it to spread.

We need enormous numbers of testing kits and safety kits.

Social distance means nothing without testing.

Given that COVID-19 may include stomach and bowel symptoms, gastroenterologists may consider the coronavirus illness when evaluating patients with GI complaints along with upper respiratory symptoms, researchers said

https://www.medpagetoday.com/gastroenterology/generalgastroenterology/85471

With the particular treatment on trials, Chloroquine (malaria treatment) and Azithromycin (Typhoid treatment) is being used.

I have every right to think and suspect. That is what researching is all about. Not caging the mind.

Malaria and typhoid are caused by bacteria and protozoans not viruses. The claim that it is a biological weapon had no ground because the so called evidence has be pulled from the rectums of attention seekers on social media.

I can point out two ways of how to loot money in our president speech, walahi I use to respect president Muhammad buhari but on this one he is a thief.

* he talk about sharing trademoni how will you share trademoni when many beneficiary shop are close down?

* there is no school all schools has been close down how will you talk about school feeding program? Buhari hand is not clean.

I will advise all those who donate money for Nigeria they should go and collect their money back and share it for Nigerians they way they wish is better than letting government share it. Our government are thief, ole
Do not mind them. They are only thinking of how to siphon money instead of thinking of how to start testing, tracing, isolating and treating.

You're grossly on point! They are not even talking about the points raised in the speech & how it will impact life for the next two weeks but rather on pre-recorded speech, grammar, etc.
Donald Trump that appears on TV everyday and speaks all the grammar, talking as if he is in a Republican political rally; how has it helped the situation in USA? Their numbers are rising everyday, their health workers are complaining bitterly about lack of equipment, PPE, imagine a lady complaining on CNN last night that they as workers in the government hospitals in New York are asked to use 1 nose mask for 5 days whereas it should be used for just a day & disposed...a whole USA??
How has the fluency of Trump helped anything?

So many children forming immature adults on this forum!!!
America still has one of the highest testing programs going on. America has spent a lot for response. Even after all that, it is not enough. Let alone Nigeria who does not even have a healthy health care system and the President is not addressing the little to no testing taking place.

I disagree with you on the above, economic palliatives are also priority at this time as financial obligations are currently under strain i.e repayments are falling due as we speak. How long do you think it takes a business to crumble in the absence of cashflows?

My point is that both issues should be addressed simultaneously, not one at the detriment of the other. Even, the UK and the US had first announced several economic palliative measures before they significantly ramped up their frequency of testing.

What I agree with you on is that Buhari's speech didn't address the disease containment plans adequately at all. I suspect that this is because of a lack of coordination with NCDC for the know-how on the medical technicalities by his team.
Canada released a billion dollars, that is over 400 billion naira for intervention. They can talk about that. America released over that earlier and then set interventions in Trillions of dollars. They can talk about that. These countries already have response systems set up already before the intervention funds.

In our case we do not have testing kits, safety gears for health workers. We do not have adequate testing and we are channeling money for programmes when we do not have enough for even health care workers.

When will we talk of medicine and ventilators?

All these would have been avoided by the simple act of closing the damn boarders and stopping flights from those ravaged countries but they were busy boasting of being ready for something that has totally shaken the western world. All hot air no action now poor Nigerians would be made to suffer for their incompetence as usual.
What plans have they made to cater for the hunger and starvation that would most certainly be a fallout from the lock down? As usual nothing just lock the place down and let Hunger finish what corona started.
Our foolishness as a nation has come home to roost.

Even if they had Quarantined incoming people for 14 days and tested them, we would have been a whole lot better since January.
