Good day Everyone,
Please i want to know if the Consent form that will be notarized by the non-applying parent must have the date of birth? can it be skipped because i want to have it before travelling and also must i have a correspondece from a hospital before i travel due to POE. i dont have any doctor or hospiatl corrrespondence...my brother who resides at New jersey advice that i arrive first before searching for a doctor and am leaving early november but my due date is in dec
The consent form should have the child's date of birth on it.
Your husband can get it done and express mail (dhl, ups) it to you immediately/ the day after you give birth.
You'll get it in 3/4 days max (which is almost the same period you'll have to wait to get your LOs BC)

It seems you didnt get your visa for birthing cos you would have had to use a correspondence for your interview.
ITs better to have one at hand for the POE in other to avoid stories that touch

Pls, I applied for visa on arrival for my new born on Thursday and I got a reply which says received and nothing more. I will be flying back to nig today Saturday, I hope am On the right track . Thanks.
You are almost on track but not quite...
Your VOA has not yet been processed.. All you got is an acknowledgment mail showing that they have received your application.
You shouldnt travel until you get the two authorization letters which specifically state that you'll get the visa when you arrive at your destination.

The VOA application process is usually reliable, it takes about 24hrs or so. As you applied on Thurs and didnt get it on fri, it means you'll probably receive the letters on Monday cos of the weekend

Just seeing this by @TKThankyou. Very well put.

That upgrade you mentioned is called 'Conversion' in most govt institutions. This is when a lower cadre staff has attained a higher qualification eg a messenger employed with SSCE who gets his BSc or a clerk/secretary who was employed with OND and gets his BSc or HND. What such employee usually does is to tender his new qualifications and apply for conversion into the higher cadre. He will then be converted to the entry grade level of the higher cadre with benefits. (it might take a while tho & long leg might be needed)

TKThankyou:
my brother, before a position is opened to the public , I would assume there are appraisals and promotions and the remaining opportunities will be made available to the public. However, if over the Years, a very casual worker gets professional certifications, he may apply for either an upgrade if its available or through the external means. Don't you think there'll be conflict of interest if your colleagues are interviewing you for a job alongside an outsider?

that said, in some organisations, there are internal exams and interviews conducted by the hr team for their staffers but this is not opened to the public. if you fail to succeed here, you remain in your position. For a Permanent secretary position, a certain grade level will be invited to sit for an exam and from the pool, one person will be selected- its still part of the agency's mwchanism. This is not opened to the public. Promotions my brother takes people up the scale. can you imagine, moving from grade 8 to 9, you re apply, and grade 9 to 10 you re apply... it'll make no sense.

Oh! Now is different? But, it's same agency runned by federal government? Then, what makes it different? Aren't they, staff of such agency? Just like in IOC's, you have a portal which even if u are an employee, can apply for a higher post if u are qualified for such post.
Its different because the post of Perm sec is not open to members of the public. Its an internal vacancy of the Fed Civil Service which is why only the staff of the Fed Civil Service irrespective of ministry/dept can apply for such

Note: some of those who sat for EH, are DPR employees who chose roles maybe for career development or to increase salary. DPR have such platform for their employees. If it's still speculation, I charge any employee-EH to quote me wrong.
Well, you are wrong here sha... undecided undecided
No employee of a govt institution would have to reapply again along with outsiders even if it is for a higher post. There is a difference between internal and external applications or vacancies in govt. For govt organisations, the internal one is in the form of promotion exams which (of course) is for ONLY their members of staff, external applications are for the general public. They do not mix them!!

Drnice:
In addition to this, just as in government agencies like the recent civil service permanent secretary positions held. F.C.S Employees applied to such positions & also sat for exams & interviews.
The Perm Secs position you refer to is an internal application of the Federal Civil Service. Its only open to Fed. Civil Servants who have attained the level of director in their various ministries. Its a promotion exam. You can not find any random member of the public applying for that post

I beg to differ.recruitment ends when the whole process of getting suitable applicants for a job has been concluded, which makes interview the last stage.

When offered employment letter is called SELECTION.this is when candidates with a greater likelihood of success on the job are chosen.thanks
I beg to differ.
This "SELECTION" which you refer to is still part of the recruitment process. Every stage, from the advertisement till the distribution of employment letters is all part of the recruitment process. The word RECRUITMENT comes from 'RECRUIT' which means 'seek to employ'. The process does not end when you have a list of people suitable to be employed (ie after interview); it ends when you have actually offered to employ the said people by giving them offer/employment letters

Hi people, my Visa interview is coming up soon and I filled in the form that I'm going to Texas cause my correspondence is in Texas.. Now that there's hurricane Harvey happening, was thinking they might not want to grant people going Texas visa..what do you guys think?
I think you should contact another doctor somewhere else; elpaso,Dallas or Atl, get correspondence form him/her and tell the VO that your plans have changed becos of the hurricane. They would appreciate the fact that you have planned ahead.

THIS IS A PSA TO ALL INTENDING MAMAS
If you planned to go to Houston in the next one month, I advise for you to just change your plans right now. It might take a while before they recover from the effects of this flooding.
For those that are already in Houston, my prayers are with you.. Stay safe

Hello house,

Please I have a quick question about Visa On Arrival. A friend applied for it and got a response but she said it says Business Visa. Just want to ask others if this is the norm? Thanks in advance.
Yes it is.
VOA was originally intended for people who want to come and do business/invest in Nigeria

umajosiahNL:
Hello House,

1. DW and I do not have anyone in the USA and this is her first time traveling, would the VO think its better I go with her? could they reject her on grounds that shes pregnant and would be needing assistance and shes going alone? I have also decided to book a hotel accommodation for her for the period of 92 days of her stay, is this advisable? I chose not to apply with her in order to be her strong home ties to return to her husband, is this a valid premise?

2. I intend to deposit a lump sum amount to cover all that my DW would be needing in the USA as summarized in our budget sheet. Would she be asked to prove the origin of the money? The money would actually be coming from 3 different sources: Myself, My Company and My Dad. Is this a good approach or should we just present one person as the sponsor?

3. Finally, my DW is currently employed as an intern and her contract will be expiring before her interview, I hope to give her employment in my company and an immediate maternity leave with resumption immediately after birth. Is this acceptable as a valid body of proof for her return based on B2 Medical visa?

Please family, anyone who has answers to these our questions please help us, you'd be ''Saving a life'' smiley
You really have a lot to learn ooo. How far along is your DW? I hope you have the time to sit and read thru this thread. All the answers to your questions are here, start reading from the middle of part 3 or maybe part 4 and by the time you've finished you'll be a guru smiley
Lemme answer your questions

1)A lot of mama's here have been in the same category as your wife and they were issued their visas. First timers that didnt have any family/friends in the US, applied alone, traveled alone and successfully gave birth and returned. Booking a hotel for 90 days is kinda expensive, you'll be better of using extended stay apartments or airbnb..

2) Depositing a lump sum in her account is a NO NO. Don't DO IT cos defending the source of the funds is going to be a problem. How would the VO be sure it isn't borrowed. Also, using multiple sponsors is frowned at. Your best bet here is to leave the money in your account and print your statement for her to take along. She should declare you as her sponsor, your Dad can transfer his part into your account in bits over time

3) I'm not so sure about this; It feels kinda rushed and It might raise suspicion cos I don't know many companies that would employ someone and give them immediate maternity leave. Why not give her an offer letter with a date of commencement/resumption 3months after EDD instead of immediate contract plus maternity leave

Hello house , please I wanna find out an information for my colleugue at work who plans to give birth in usa for her first baby.in December But she's worried because the name on her bi/b2 visa is showing her ex husband surname. Will it affect her getting her baby passport with her new hubby name. Cous she plans informing the embassy on her next visa application when her visa expires. Pls house what do u advise
She is not going to have any problem with that.
Americans are not so concerned with (married) surnames. For them, the father of the child is whoever she writes when filing for the birth certificate. If she like sef, she can leave the space blank...

It doesn't really matter if you have the original or not. They probably have his visa in their system and can easily view it by referencing his name/dob. They might even have done that when perusing your application..
LagosNIV:
This is correct.
sw:
It matters, I am talking from experience. Going with the original passport/visa will convince the VO more of your husband's consent, agreement and support for your trip. The VO might not b comfortable with the photocopy I repeat.
Wow...!! lol, this is soo soo funny cheesy cheesy cheesy

@sw; You are arguing about something that the VO has agreed with already.
Maybe you mis-interpreted your "experience"

@Oluwakeminoah

I really don't see much wrong with your interviews and I see you changed destination and maybe also doctors. One thing that stands out though is that the VO asked what your husband does when he travels... It's not a very usual question. Has ur husband had any issues during his travels? Maybe he overstayed or something..? Law enforcement issues/mixups etc.?
The only other thing may be your ties to ensure you are coming back after delivery..

I av an interview at the embassy on September (first week) and the purpose of my travelling is to attend a conference in US(first week in october) but am pregnant (4 months presently). Am a lecturer in a government university here in Nigeria. My question is do I need to hide the fact that am pregnant or how do I go about it? pls I need advice
justwise:
Lecturer? You don't need us to lecture you about honesty.
Babatwi:
No need to hide your pregnancy these days when applying for visa, those days are far gone. These days,we've learnt here that it's not a crime to give birth in the US once you can afford it,though you dint mention that you would like to birth there. If that is your plan, then read this forum very well, you'll get all you need for the trip here, just read and gain knowledge. What ever your intentions, whether to go for conference or to go and give birth, tell the truth.

Ouch..... The dreaded Chicago poe. Any other poe and she would have most likely made it through with the $10k. Maybe the fact she was a first timer or the manner she presented her case worked against her. My sympathies. Hopefully, her visa would be ready on time.
Best of luck

Hello house,
My wife attended usa interview last week Thurs, 10 Aug 2017, she's issued d visa and told to come after 3 working days, when she got to the pick up centre, she was told that her application is under Administrative Processing. We did birth visa for her. Altho, she was issued visa around June but was deported at the Port of Entry on d ground that she hasnt paid d hospital bills, when she got to naija, we paid all d bills and reapplied. The interview was successful but the pick up is now the issue. Pls any Visa Officer around, do you think that my wife will still meet up the appointment? Besides, she's heavily pregnant and has just a few months left. How long do u think the AP would take? How can we hasten up their AP? As we speak, her flight ticket has been bought against 17 Aug.

Thanks brothers
Sorry richard, I do not understand the bolded part of your statement...,

Had your wife gone for a previous birth trip b4 and was owing hospital/doc fees? or
she was sent back because she hadn't paid the hospital bills for this present pregnancy that she is yet to deliver...?

Please clarify me, someone told me she used two weeks max to get her LO passport, so how long does it take exactly to get it, 4weeks is too much. You wouldnt b able to finish up before your return date. Can you tell me how to go about it so it could b faster.
favoredgal:
No way around it, scanned copy are not accepted. He has to courier it to you. Some courier companies have fast services or he goes to the airport to look for someone going to your city

Same day / 24 hours you have to go to the passport office yourself. Using a post office service, minimum wait time is at least 4 weeks or 6 like you have been told...
All the best
Like @favoredgal has told you, the fastest way to get your LO's passport is by going to the passport office yourself. You can get it that same day or the next. Using the post office gives you a wait time of 4-6weeks but some people have been known to receive theirs quicker than that (just by chance/sheer luck)

For those who say there shouldn't/wouldn't be another test, hope you remember that GT & EH wrote the same test.
I don't think it would be fair to grade them together over the same test..
someone with 4/5 years experience already has an advantage over fresh graduates..
GT & EH should even write seperate tests as was done for the last set that was employed

cheesy cheesy cheesy

No be small thing, but I guess the questions will revolve around fluid mechanics, gas dynamics, turbo machineries and ic engines.....make them no come de ask O.D.E and numerical analysis
but seriously though, I dont think the field based tests would be that in depth. The 'fields' should be classified more broadly;

It would be very tasking to prepare a set of questions for every discipline/post that they advertised, so I expect them to group the field tests more broadly. think more in terms of faculty-wide tests than department tests (for those who are fresh grads). i.e. Engineering, social sciences, core sciences, humanities etc. There could also be specific optional parts/questions for each discipline in the group sha but I don't expect them to be asking laplace transforms, thermochemistry, electromagnetics etc

Please House.....to avoid all these issue of scams and scammers, pls lets have a list of like Ten (10) trusted and verified members that can serve as escrow for us. This is a good way of avoiding dos scam scenes. Because these scammers are everywhere and they have strategies .....so lets the house also adopt a smart strategy to avoid them. My suggestion though
adebisola:
Transaction fees will be added now during any transaction. Abeg lets have the list of verified escrow pls
and what happens if/when the "verified" escrow goes rogue and scams people...
Who would be held liable? Who does the verification...?

The best thing is to have your own strategies to counter the scammers,
check transaction history of whoever you intend to deal with;
if you are still not comfortable with the person...., DONT DEAL or deal at your own risk

You can also approach pple you've dealt with b4 and trust personally to escrow for you
