Don't be naive, the real value of the naira (something called the Real Exchange Rate) is between 300-350 ₦ per $ and that's exactly why the CBN is holding out at that rate. The present rate is only down to the insidious activities of speculators and once the CBN demonstrates an ability to meet $ demand for a few weeks (which they now can as they've miraculously built up the reserves to about $29b), speculators will pack their bags and leave the Naira alone, then, we'll see the naira settle at its true rate.
Everything now depends on how patient currency hoarders are and how long the CBN can nourish the market, the first to blink losses. If speculators blink first, then the Naira will appreciate further as hoarders offload their stock leading to an oversupply but if the CBN blinks first, something that's sure to happen if the reserves begin to plunge below $25-20billion, then expect the naira to depreciate to at least ₦600 as speculators become enboldened seeing nothing but a hapless Central Bank....

If the CBN sells another tranche of $$$ to banks on Tuesday, that might signal the final slide of the dollar. And right now, it seems they would do so cos of the increase in reserves which is due to the rise in the price of crude and restored crude oil production from previously damaged facilities.

Asked because Atlanta to Dallas should be a local flight and most airport international flight and domestic flight departure and arrival point are different so need to know if one would enter officially first at Atlanta then move to the domestic wing for the next flight or the airline takes care of that and your point of entry would be Dallas. This is important as it affects the number of hours stopover you select, buying my ticket online not using an agent so better one knows what to expect.

Atlanta to dallas is a local flight so your point of entry into the US is Atlanta..
Plan your stopover well so as to have enough time to pass thru CBP

I think you must have a min balance of 1m or so, monthly charges of 5k etc. Check d diamond bank website

Yes, you can.

The only advantage (if it can be called one) is that you would not need to process a naija visa or ETC

The ETC is just a letter written on the Naija embassy letter head and can be used only once while the 9ja visa is on the American passport and can be used multiple times (if its a multple entry visa sha).

ETC = Emergency Travel Certificate

Its actually a pricing issue, brought about by the scarcity of the aviation fuel. ATK is actually now cheaper in Ghana than in Nigeria (by almost 30%) because the Ghanian govt removed a surcharge/reduced the tax paid by aviation marketers to govt. Nigerian fuel is now more expensive because its a deregulated market subject to the whims of demand and supply. Once there is a shortage of supply (as we are experiencing now due to the $$ issues) the price would shoot up.

Yes, three weeks should be enough.
Some people have done it in two weeks or even less esp if when not processing the Naija passport.

Since your wife has used the visa severally for the reason it was originally issued, I don't think she needs the change of intent letter. Let her go prepared with doctors correspondence/appointment and enough cash to convince them at the point of entry. Also, the use of the change of intent letter has been abused over and over again. Its very doubtful if the CBP officers hold it in any regard anymore.

Meanwhile, has anyone renewed their child's/ children's US passport in Lagos. ( I intend to take receipts with me just in case). Please tell me about your experience.

I have actually made a correction on my sons passport at the US embassy in Lagos... that was like 3months ago. Its not a big deal. You'll have to make an appointment at the American Citizens section of their site. Print the appointment page and download & fill the required form. Stroll up to the gate at your scheduled time (dont go and queue up with visa people ooo ) and you'll be ushered in and attended to. I doubt if they'll request for the receipts although I remember them asking one parent for progressive pictures of his daughter - maybe she looked totally different from the pic in her passport and the consular officer wanted to make sure she was d same person.

Yeah, I have but it was a longtime ago... My first visa had restrictions on it which I couldn't fulfill. I explained the reasons why when I applied next and it was cancelled without prejudice before I was issued another one

I am not sure if this has been discussed in detail but I thought to share this info for those who are considering opening an account with Bank of America.

1. There are 3 checking accounts

A. Core Checking account: minimum balance $1500 OR monthly deposit of at least $250 OR a monthly maintenance fee of $12

B. Interest Checking account: minimum balance $10,000 OR maintenance fee of $25

C. Safe Balance Banking: fixed monthly charge of $4.95 no minimum balance restrictions... only downside is that there is no cheque book for this account AND you can't overdraw (i.e take more than what you have in the account)

After considering all three accounts, especially in this era where dollar is hard to come by, I came to the conclusion that the most convenient for this waka is the safe balance banking as it doesn't require "tying" down money. I went to the bank and opened one.

Oh and you can open a savings account for your baby with no charges whatsoever!

Nice summary, the safe balance acct is definitely the best bet.
I also remember that the regular savings account has a limit to the no. of withdrawals you can make monthly. (6 per month or so). After you have reached the limit, you get charged per withdrawal. You also have to maintain a min balance of $300 or get charged $5/month as maintenance fee

Yes, there is a real danger of the law being repealed and so forth, but I do not think its going to be that imminent.

Firstly, like Austine2020 has said the process would actually take some time to be carried out. Dona is not just going to issue some decree and everything would fall in place. It needs to go through proper channels, through the legislature and all and that would take time. I also don't think that would be the 1st thing on his to-do list (although it certainly would rank high) so it might take like 6 months to a year before he gets round to it.

Secondly,I believe most a lot of the stuff he said during his campaign where said out of ignorance. Its like how PMB was saying he would do this & this and that during his campaign and by the time he got there, his eye just open . Dona has no idea the true state of the economy or how things work in govt. By the time he gets there and he is told the consequences or adverse effects of some of his plans, He might just have a rethink or soft pedal abit.

Thirdly, even if he repeals the law, he cant do it retroactively i.e He cant say that all those who where granted citizenship that way are no longer citizens. The change would take effect from the day it is signed into law. The way I see it, we still have at least a year before anything happens on that front. So, if you have had your LO before then, congrats to you. If you were thinking of taking a break before the next one; rethink oo, sharply grab your partner and ur ovulation calender/apps and time the deed NOW NOW.... The goal must be scored, we are fast approaching injury time

If you have the 5 years relevant job experience, you can just apply as Experienced regardless of the age

I'm guessing the CBP or consulate investigated the large number of dr. Fs documents they received and paid him a visit... He must have seen the no. of people that used his correspondence to enter the US compared with the number that he actually delivered their babies and realized that peeps were using his document to get into the US and go to another dr.......I guess that loophole is gradually closing now. Next on the line is probably the change of intent letter.... Peeps have to find new methods.

By the time u tell him that the cheapest hospital & doc combo in NC will consume any savings u make 4rm not paying for accom,transport etc plus some extra thousand $$ he'll quickly sell off your dad's idea and buy yours - with this exchange rate wey dey frown face like

For your second question, You could tell them @ the POE that you want to spend time with your family friends in NC first before you go to give birth in elpaso. I know some Mums here have done so b4, although it's more preferable if you go directly to where u stated on ur visa application/interview

Its not always compulsory for you to have an appointment with the doc for your visa interview (although its a plus). Evidence of your communication with the doc and hospital (email thread) as well as their billing documents/price list would do just well....
