I am happy to read from various people's experiences on this platform. Please i will like to know your thoughts. My hubby, our 2yr old and myself got our b1 b2 visa in Nov 2015 for 2weeks Christmas vacation and I wasn't pregnant then. I was asked if I was pregnant and I said no,the VO also asked if we would seek any medical services and we said no. We have not travelled since then because of my tight schedule at work and i got preg in late 2016 and now we want to travel next month at 33weeks for vacation and to have our baby. Do I really need to send the change of intent letter? Based on what I have been reading many people don't think its necessary, I'm really confused. Also do u think I will have any issues with the Houston poe? Thank u for ur input on this.
As long as you haven't used the visa for the original purpose, my advice is for you to send the change of intent letter. As you can see from others POE stories, its been known to be requested for. It doesn't cost you anything to send and its better to have it & not need it than need it and not have it.

There's no bias intended when a tourist posts pics of beautiful African cities he visits.

The comparison was inevitable. We are both African nations. If they can get basic things done, if they've got access to basic amenities like 24/7 electricity, so should we.

The Nigerian people, leaders and culture of mediocrity have created an unsafe and unjust society where nothing works, theives reign and merit is worthless.

You can all keep up with the cognitive dissonance, but the honest fact is that we've created a horrible place for our next generation to live in.

I got this mail from Diamond bank this morning:

In compliance with the Stamp Duties Act & Federal Government Regulations Act of 2009, CBN has directed that a Stamp duty charge of N50 be paid on every single deposit over N1,000 either by Teller or electronically to the Federal Government by the account holder.
In keeping with the CBN directive, Diamond Bank will be collecting this charge on Thursday, 4 May 2017 for the period of Dec 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017.
Please note that these charges will be applied as one debit per month within the stated period.
For enquiries, please call our 24hour Contact Centre on 0700 300 0000, send an e-mail to enquiries@diamondbank.com. To make a complaint, please send an email to complaints@diamondbank.com.
Thank you for choosing Diamond, Your Bank. kiss
Why are Nigerian businesses like this...??

This same stamp duty has been declared illegal by the courts, yet CBN/Diamond bank still want to implement it.

They'll collect the money now and when its time to reverse it we'll be hearing stories

@Justwise, thanks for clearing the mess of the day But on a more serious note, is it that you can not find a permanent solution to this Shawbabe's issue?. I believe everybody can not be wrong. There are many decent people out here and not everyone will appreciate having to be drawn into using all these dirty languages. Biko, e jo, abeg help us find a lasting solution. Not everybody is cut out for all these.
In my opinion, everyone that replies both her and Tpako are also to blame for this..
You are all enabling them by replying their barbs/insults and scarcastic comments. They bait you with such comments, you fireback and then the whole thread is derailed for like 2/3 pages. This MO has happened over and over again and y'all still fall for it.
I dont understand why everyone cannot just 'unlook them'.
By the time they insult the wind for like 4/5 pages cos nobody replies them, they'll open their own little thread somewhere and be trading insults

Hello Shawlar,
my wife plans to use Dr F again and would like to know if the hospital has agreed and possibly provided the $250 refund . Dr F mentioned to me that hey would honor the old rate from his patients so I would like to know how that is going
Also what sort of discounts did you get as a returning patient as my wife is one also. Would like some insights abeg
I tried PM but am not sure it went through to you.
I got your 1st PM and I replied, but didnt get your follow up question.
Like others have told you, Yes the hospital agreed and has provided the $250 refund...
I think the discount Dr. F gave my DW was based on the rapport she has with him,
they had exchanged mails a couple of times during the course of the over 1year that we last used his services
So when it was time to use him again, she asked him for a discount as per paddy-paddy and He kindly obliged
I dont think its for all his returning clients.
Cheers

Hello house, pls I'm in a fix now and I need some clarification. my hubby and I got a visa for vacation in February, we really wanted to go for vacation then but due to the dollar scarcity, we shifted it. mid March, I was confirmed pregnant. mind u, I wasn't asked if I was pregnant during our interview and neither did I know I was pregnant den. now, I'm 3 months gone.
The issue now is my hubby and I planned going for the vacation next month (may) den I can go for childbirth later but I was told today at my office that I can't take my annual and maternity leave together in a year.
So now, I don't know what to do. can I go for childbirth later with a letter of intent since I wasn't asked if pregnant then? what are the options available for me now as I'm really confused. gurus in the house, over to u.
I suggest you still go on the vacation as planned, you can also use that time to personally research/scout for a suitable Dr, hospital and accomodation. You may not use all your annual leave at once, just take like max of two weeks for the vacation. Then you can take a maternity leave later and travel to give birth. When its time for the maternity leave, your HR would probably take out the time you've spent for the annual leave already and you can make that up by taking time off without pay.

Just my suggestion..

As regards the Oakbend price increase, My wife was at Oakbend last week and she was told she had to pay the new price of $2,750 to register instead of the $2,500 which Dr F. quoted. She paid the sum and registered but later mentioned it to Doc F. at her next appointment. He said he had just been informed about the increase and didnt know beforehand. He also said he will have a talk with the Oakbend MD to refund the extra $250 since he had already quoted the $2,500 for us as they didnt inform him of the increase.

Doc F. also gave us a discount on his prices cos she is a returning patient.

I just dey pray make everybody dey discount dey go..... grin grin grin grin

Hello good evening house. Missed u all.
It's been a while. Don't mind my errors in this story just in the spirit of giving back.
Did a drop box last month for me and hubby and hubby was given his visa but I was called for an interview.
Got my visa in 2015 for childbirth. Used it for childbirth in 2015 and vacation in 2016.
Outline of visa interview in Abuja .
Me: good day
Vo: good day. Please hand over ur passport
Me: I pass my passport to her
Bo: looks into her computer for a while and asks can she see my receipts for childbirth in 2015.
Me: I give her all reciepts, zero balance and my itemized bill breakdown ( which was given to me with zero balance in the hospital)
Vo: she looks through all the reciepts and pauses while looking at the itemized bill break down.
Says she can see my bills was adjusted. Saw somewhere in the itemized bill where "adj" was written and said it meant adjusted bill.
Me: told her I was self pay , payed all my bills for self pay and had no adjustments.
Vo: passes the paper to me to see the adj and explain it to her
Me: looks through, sees the adj somewhere in front of the paper with $1250 but at the back of the paper where the bill total was written had adj written as $0.00 . Showed her the $0.00 but she said she isn't interested in that one behind but the one in front

Lesson of story: Don't show these people any thing u don't know what is written on it Biko to avoid do you know me.
I think the adjustment on the itemised bill is the discount which was applied on the total/real cost in order for it to tally with the cost of the package. Someone else has shared an experience like yours before.
A likely solution is to go along with the initial correspondence/cost of the birth package from the hospital and show the VO via ur receipt that you paid the amount that the hospital quoted

Congratulations @freshdad
Your wife's "The one in my stomach" and posing 'with novel we she no dey read' really got me laughing hard....

Your point about criticizing people who don't declare is well taken. As evidenced by your wifes case, it also seems quite a few CBP officials are also confused about how to process people that declare their intention to birth. If a CBP officer does not know/has to seek clarification, then I guess we could overlook a visa applicant's ignorance.. but at the same time, knowledge is power. Researching and learning all you can about whatever endeavour u intend to embark upon leads to less mistakes in execution

freshdad:
STAGE 1-PHASE 2 POE

so DW left lagos on the 29th march VIA turkish airline( turkish says fit to fly must be from a govt hospital so we had to do another one at port health)

CBP: how are you
DW: Fine

CBP: why are you here
DW: for child delivery

CBP: what(looking suprised like he's never heard that) which child
DW: The one in my stomach
officer looks astonished again as it seems its his first day on the job. as DW is quiet smallish in nature

CBP: Please follow me

to secondary inspection as he passes her document to another officer and she was asked to wait
Na so DW pose with novel we she no dey read dey wait. And after a short while she was called

In other news, I think we should'nt always criticize those who do not divulge their pregnancy during interviews as alot of people still think they wont grant you a visa if you are pregnant. in the last 3months, I have spoken to like 6 people(2 in the us, 1 in uk and the other back home) who didnt know it is not illegal to do that. even yesterday when a friend in new york called me and was saying ' Ha i hope they would let her in blahblahblah". not until i told him the purpose we got the visa was for birthing so please like not crucify everyone as some people still dont know even though it is not my prerogative to have people seek for knowledge themselves.

Hi!! Is there any mum who previously had a baby in the U.S and has travelled recently for 2nd missionary journey? Can you kindly share questions asked at POE?
My wife just travelled to Houston during the week. She flew Delta Airline, POE was Atlanta. The airline didnt ask for her fit to fly although she had it ready. There were no hassles whatsoever for her @ POE. CBP only asked her why she stayed so long her last time (1st missionary trip), How she paid her bills then (Cash) and how much she had on her this time around (9,500). He then stamped her in for six months. No document was asked for even though she was well prepared and she wasnt sent to Agric becos she didnt travel with foodstuff

Hello, I finally arrived Tennessee on monday. I didn't have any problem at the Atlanta POE. They wanted to know why i will be staying in a hotel without my husband to look after me since i will be alone and heavily pregnant and i simply informed them that he will be coming next month.

My husband will begin his visa application process next week. Is there any guideline he should follow to apply for his visa?

Also in the DS-160 form, where people are asked if they have direct relatives in America, should he fill yes because i am now in america or should he still fill No since i am on a non immigrant visa?
I believe the correct answer here should be No as you are not resident there.
No special guideline for your husband to follow. U can tell him to go along with copies of your passport and visa sha

Good day everyone. With regards to the statement released by SSA to the president on Foreign affairs, please if you travelled in the last one week or intend travelling soon, kindly share your POE experience. We all should share our experiences to help others. I will share mine in April by God's grace. We can never get enough of it. Thank you
If you read that statement very well, you'll see where she said that the advisory became necessary because about 4 or 5 Nigerians were refused entry into the US in the last 2weeks. I was like just 5..... huh huh huh, That is a normal number. Instead of issuing such advisory because of five people, she should have investigated and found out why those 5 were turned back as against the hundreds (if not thousands) that were granted entry in the same time frame.

Do not allow the statement to alarm/scare you in anyway. Carry on with your plans and make sure you do the right thing always.
