The law authorizing citizen's arrest in Lagos state gives every pervert out there free rein to "arrest" women spotted wearing revealing clothes, or deemed to be of questionable character.  I'm emigrating to Lagos right now to enforce morality there.
cheesy u are sooo right? Am patiently waiting though for all these changes, it is one thing to have a good leader with good intentions, it is another thing to have law abiding citizens that would abide by the rules.
Trust Lagosians gra gra , wuru wuru, over sharpness na him dey mess them up. Sides that Lagos would have been a wonderfull place. But i'll stick to Abuja if you ask thank you. I cant stand the touts and hold up anymore.

Ladies and gents, why would any authority want to expel a chile for merely forgetting to bring bibles. What happens to the kids after expulsion, they go home and start all over again. Some will never go back to school, some will end up on the streets and some will end up being armed robbers and yahoo boys.  Messed up school and authority i will say.  shocked
Those kids are not groomed to be leaders but followers who have to be told what to do at all times, God forbid i send my child to a school like that,

You have just analysed Nigerians and Nigeria in such few words and you are soo damn right. It is exaclty what is going on. Everybody shouts government. Its been Government for the last 50 years and we have learnt to put the blame on Government all the time. I begin to wonder, who is the government? they are just people like me and you that get political positions. We have to learn to do the right thing, thats just it.

You know something funny happened last week to a couple of my friends, they went to this joint in Abuja and after eating their snacks and drinks, they just dumped the foil and paper on the floor, at that instant a white lady was passing by and without saying a word to them and mumbling this is not good, not good at all to herself, she packed all the trash and put them in a bin. can you imagine, a non Nigerian doing this for Nigeria. Would you imaging if half on Nigeria thought like her what the country would look like? I hope some day we would learn to campaign to do the right thing by starting with ourselves rather than sit down, do nothing and comfortably blame Government. undecided

Its amazing that alot of guys here are not pleased by this judgement. True our politicians are bigger thieves, but this young yahoo boys are the future politicians. If you dont curb them now, then there will be absolutely no hope for the future. Young professionals are taking over the world everywhere, so this generation matter alot to the future of any country. Please let them all be caught, anyone smart enough to write those interesting fraund letters can get a job. Ghana, Libya, Cameroun, Niger, Chad, Togo, all these countries around us have poorer people and economy yet they are not as curropt as Nigerians. This makes me doubt that poverty is the cause of fraud in Nigeria. Its plain greed.
All these poor African countries, and few of them go into yahoo but Nigeria. Nigerians and plain greedy people thats all
PoliticsRe: Democracy Day : No Reason To Celebrate by shawn123: 3:01pm On May 30, 2008
@Nigeria1
Dont you get it, your parable doesnt really matter. True like you said according to the yoruba's "only a bastard uses left hand to point to his father's house" . I want to ask you a question, with all this parable and culture, we still sleep in the dark, no water, light, road, health. Yet you are telling me about what the yoruba's say. Okay now, our ancestors never went to the banks to save money, they used to dig floors in their rooms and put money in the pot and save it , why dont you do that instead of banking and using atm.
Nobody says disrespect elders, but when the elder has proved to be a door mat, you step on the door mat. Why in God's name would i respect all these old dump leaders that never gave a damn about the country and its people but only their pockets. culture ko, culture ni!
PoliticsRe: Democracy Day : No Reason To Celebrate by shawn123: 10:42am On May 30, 2008
@Nigeria1
who cares if he doesnt acknowledge Obasanjo, you are talking about some bloody culture. Is it not the so called culture that has put us in the dark, the same bloody culture that has got the people killing themselves over land and negligable stuffs, the same bloody culture that prevents intermarriage in most cases like we are not all Nigerians, the same culture that keeps our politicians going to shrine for blood oath, If you call this mayheim culture, then i rufuse to go by it. Talking about respecting Obasanjo, like he deserves it!  My friend you have a brain just do what is right and stop going by some cultural books that wont take you anywhere!
PoliticsRe: Democracy Day : No Reason To Celebrate by shawn123: 10:28am On May 30, 2008
Nigeria1.:
from a newspaper

The immediate ex-President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, appears to be the favourite whipping horse of everybody these days. His ministers and other political officers who worked with him while in office have dissociated themselves from him so that in case of a probable probe panel, they would be reminded as having criticised Obasanjo at one time or the other. A way of insuring their fate ahead, you would say.

The picture above was taken recently at the burial party of the Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel‘s mother. The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Raji Fashola (SAN) came in, greeted vigorously his Osun State counterpart, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who replied just as passionately. Sitting side by side with Oyinlola, however, was Obasanjo and for whatever reason, the Lagos State governor ignored the ex-president. Trust OBJ, he was unfazed by Fashola‘s action. He proved his ‘I dey kampe-ism‘ by looking straight ahead as if nobody was there. Is this not a case of do me I do you? Man no go vex!

https://www.punchng.com/images/May/Thursday/pix20080529302217.jpg

My friend, this your letter to Fashola is absurd. The truth of the matter is, it is this same bloody culture you speak of that has kept us in the dark for soo long. The same cultural beliefs that makes people fight over land and oil, the same bloody cultural beliefs that had our ancestors killing twins back in the days and the same bloody culture lets our people go to shrine for blood oath. Yet you speak about our culture telling us to respect Obasanjo because of his age. Respect is not easy to come by these days, to get one you have to earn one. If a 78 years old man goes somewhere and steals, he would be called a thief and treated like one inrespective of his age. Dont get me wrong i respect people like i should normally, but honestly in Nigeria today, all these old men with grey hair calling themselves politicians will get no respect from anyone okay. Its high time you respect people based on how they are and what they have achieved, not by one semi-illiterate old man telling fellow Nigerians that he is older that you so he has a right to do wrong.

My letter to fashola

This is to governor fashola:

The Igbos would say ""those who palm kennel have been crack by the spirit should not forget to be humble"

Fashola should remember that those who rise most fall. Nobody remain governor for ever. The people you step on today, may step on you when you fall.

Let be honest with ourself. Obasanjo is de  facto leader of the Yoruba race. what do I mean, we all believe that Awolowo the leader when his party won the south west in the 60's and in the 80's. What ever respect Awolowo got from doing so by winning the south west. Obasanjo should get the same. The PDP is in full control of the south west expect for lagos. So Obasanjo is the de facto leader of the south west and if fashola disrespect Obasanjo, it mean he disrespect the whole of the south west. You disrespect the whole of Yoruba people.

Let put politics apart and use our tradiction. Fashola and Iyabo Obasanjo are nearly age mate. Chief  Obasanjo could have been the father of fashola. Our tradition is against it.

Let go into fashola religion. Islamm is against it.

let now look at if its is of benefit to the people of lagos. Nohuh If fashola humble himself he could tap from chief obasanjo experience and connection and help the people of lagos. The PDP is in power in Nigeria. Any state against them  would be block from the federal. It is only a stupid man that fight a king.  The yoruba people were in opposition for so long. what did we gain from it. Nothing,  Anyone with wisdom know that nobody remember the loser. Our people do not want opposition that would not benefit them. They want progress.

Governor fashola if you see me on the road and you do not say hi,  I would not mind. the truth is bitter.

There is nothing wrong with reading the Quran. However you have to read it without a biased mind. The truth of the matter is there is no where in the Quran that quotes anything bad about Jesus and Mary.
Lets try not to deviate from the poster's question? There is no point biting at anybody's religion. You have your religion, i have mine. You practice your religion and i'll practice mine. Funny that is from the Quran? undecided

sad waiste of time, intellect and energy. Imagine spending (5+ x) years in school, x being the no of years of strike. You are over aged by the time you graduate. Then you have to spend 1 whole year of absolute crap. Why is Naija and our ways so backward. By the time we are through with the one year of NYSC, our mates in the western world are through with their masters and working, young brains, higher productivity.
I went to a federal university and i have met people from differnt parts of Nigeria, so NYSC is no difference. It shld be made voluntary. The program still exists because of the contracts some people get during the whole excercise

CrimeRe: What Drives Someone To Suicide? by shawn123: 8:45am On May 15, 2008
whether the cases are reported or not reported, suicide is rare in Africa as compared to the western world. I think its because we can handle more hardship and stress than they can. I read in the new of some girl who commited suicide in America because her boyfriend left her, thats pretty dump. The very few suicide cases we have seen in Naija has to do with bankrupcy, But westerners seem to commit suicide for negligible reasons, like some one said its probably because dem don chop belle full. cool

xfrodobagg:
The problem isn't with the Jews, it's with the evil, ungodly great ones who start EVERY conflict and then blame it on the Jews.  If the Jews kick them out of palestine, good riddence, they deserve every bit of it.  If I were the leader of Isreal palestine would belong to Isreal and I would certainly go after all of the land that God promised them in the bible.  The great ones instigate, then blame, it's the only thing that they know.
GOD, shocked SO THIS IS ALL WHAT THIS IS ABOUT. THE LAND GOD PROMISED THE ISREALI PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE, THAT IS WHY THE PALESTINES ARE BEING KILLED AND THEIR LAND TAKEN FROM THEM FOR RESETTLEMENT PLAN. I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT THIS WAR WAS ALL ABOUT. SO ITS IS BECAUSE THE ISREALIS WERE PROMISED LAND IN THE BIBLE, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY THE ARABS THAT WERE TERRORISTS? CANT BELIEVE THIS MAN, REALLY CANT,
THIS ISNT FAIR AT ALL, BECAUSE THEY WERE PROMISED LAND, THEY HAVE TO FIGHT AND FORCEFULLY COLLECT IT FROM THE RESIDENTS? ANYWAY, THE TRUTH ABOUT LIFE IS THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A BALACE TO EVERYTHING, GOD HAS SO DESIGNED THIS LIFE IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY, COS FROM WHAT I SEE ON T.V, THE PAIN IS ON BOTH SIDES AND THIS SOO CALLED ARABS ARE THE GREATEST THREAT TO THE WORLD POWERS, FUNNY AS MESSED UP AS THESE COUNTRIES ARE THEY STILL MAKE AN INPACT. YOU KNOW THE WHITES TOOK BLACKS AS SLAVES FOR MANY YEARS BUT TODAY A BLACK MAN (OBAMA) MIGHT PROBABLY RULE THEM EVEN IF HE DOESNT HE SURE HAS MADE AN INPACT. LIFE IS TRUELY NOT AS IT SEEMS AND SURE I BELIEVE GOD EXISTS, AND IF TRUELY ALL THIS KILLING IS ABOUT LAND BEING PROMISED IN THE BIBLE THEN SURELY SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT VERSION OF THE BIBLE, I HOPE THE INFO XFRODOBAGG GAVE IS WRONG OR ELSE AM BEGINNING TO THINK SOMETHING ELSE.

"Secondly, in reply to Obj's archaic statement of "As Africans, we must respect age and authority. It is also a product of birth and breeding in an African culture. I hope members of the Committee will have something to learn from this exercise."

Absolute crap! All said and well written but the age and authority thing is crap. All our past leaders are old men with grey hair, yet their ages didnt level with their intellect, This has made me personal to respect not by age but by actions. A person might be curropt inrespective of age or bloody authority.

Obviously OBJ did put that down, some young man with high level of intellect put all together for him. OBJ put down just one paragraph and thats the one i put in quote, he is always yapping about age, not that he is older than my father sef!

You see , u are loosing it again.  undecided temper, temper. no one said anything about any woman paying my bills shocked where did you see that, You seem to be getting my post wrongly. i didnt say you had a protuding belly, i didnt even attempt to lash you in my post. i just said it like we all see it around us. Like you said you dont have a protuding tommy then you shldnt be too quick to be on the defesive. Like our parents always say, it is the way you lay your carpet that people would step on it also it is the way you set your head when you are at the barber's shop that the barber would cut your hair. Its just a parable. Nothing personal dear, i dont know you so i dont have any reason to lash you k, try to comment not abuse,  its only ladylike, at least from where am from.
RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerian Girls Have Protruding Bellies? by shawn123: 3:16pm On May 09, 2008
@ Busta
try not to let all this lashing get to you like this will you? whether you try to fight all this talk or not, thinks like this dont change in people's mind. The truth is we all have gurl friends, wifes, sisters etc. For me i dont like men and women with big belly, it some how signifies greed as far as am concerned. for example look at all our leaders in Naija, 90% of them have potruding belly. Look at all the night clubs in Lagos and other states most of the gurls you see tagging along wif guys to get free drinks and food have potruding belly. Its just the sad truth.
Really, all these guys on Nairaland have their reasons for lashing all these women, lemme give u a scenario. In Naija, as a man it really doesnt matter if you have protuding belly, as long as you have the cash, most women would be down wif you  you can be a man that looks nine month pregnant women would still come chasing you as long as you've got the cash (eg Ayim pius Ayim lol). Its really sad   embarassed      but its the truth.

I respect women in the u.k more for instance because most of them dont believe the man has to buy everything for them, go out clubbing or the bar or restaurant everybody digs his or her hands into their pockets and pay. But try to take a girl out in Lagos, she would not only bring her whole crew but they would even come back wif take away. Lets look around us, in America women are sooo respected, in the u.k women are sooo respected, in China, Germany, Canada its thesame. They are respected because they earned it. Maybe its high time Naija women earn theirs to. As long as they are the way they are, the bashing wont stop, the disrespect wont stop. 27 whole pages of woman bashing, commmon lets tell ourselves the truth, wink
