Politics / Re: Amaechi Clarifies Narrow/standard Gauge Lines Controversy by Shayooluwah(m): 11:31am On Mar 16, 2021
SATANICALLY666:

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/amaechi-clarifies-narrow-standard-gauge-lines-controversy/

"The standard gauge which is at $11 to $14billion is 120km per hour, so if you take off with the standard gauge, say to Damaturu, you will arrive 20minute before me that used the narrow gauge."

This is utter bullshit, and they take Nigerians for fools.
Let's say you go from Enugu to Damaturu. According to Google, it's about 1017km by road.

Let's just round it up to 1000km. Anybody that did Physics would know calculation with distance and time. At 120km/h it'll take you 8 hours 20 minutes. That is distance divided by speed.
At 100km/h the same distance would take you 10 hours, a difference of 1 hour 40 minutes, and not 20 minutes.

And you think someone in charge of transportation would know better.

All these are just a bunch of silly excuses.

My redmi note 5 AI fell into water and I didn't use it for some days because it didn't turn on.

I went to one of these roadside technicians and he cleaned it thoroughly with dryer and fuel. The phone is currently working smoothly without issues..

I'm even tired of the phone because it has refused to spoil so I can buy another one. The screen has cracked massively for almost a year now and I've never had difficulty operating it. The phone is rugged and durable.

Please Xiaomi is strong (at least from my own experience).

Come and buy replacement screen, I mistakenly ordered the wrong screen for my phone now I have a screen I don't need. It's the same screen for Redmi 5 AI.

Ab-Soul spends so much time mixing pagan and Christian texts on Do What Thou Wilt. that it’s unclear what exactly he believes, or worse, what he’s trying to persuade us to believe. These songs are mostly self-serving or pointless, and they all contain plenty of bad phonetic reaches and try-hard wordplay. There’s a song called “Huey Knew THEN.”

What's the point of giving people a download link and bashing the album after. You mean Ab Soul's wordplays are forced? Common niqqa. He's Ab-Soul-utely da best

When in need of information everyone resorts to Google. But Google has it wrong this time. Dear Nairalanders, who knows the year Kwam 1's song Solo Makinde was released. I searched Google and it's saying 2017. I know fully well it isn't correct cause I listened to it while growing up. I think the 2017 it indicated was when the digital copy was added.
P.S I need the information for a project I'm working on.

Politics / Re: British Airways React To Audu Ogbeh's Claim Of Importing Pizza From London by Shayooluwah(m): 7:11pm On Mar 29, 2019
laudate:

Angry, kè? Over what? A Nigerian minister's random musings? Never! Who get that time? shocked
Just for the record, I NEVER called Audu Ogbeh names. Maybe you have me mixed up with someone else. shocked

Let's break it down to basics. I clearly mentioned 'food quarantine people in the UK' in the second paragraph of my previous post. Please read it again.

And all through my post, I made reference to flying in cooked food from a foreign country into Nigeria. There are checks conducted at foreign airports on any kind of edible food to be exported, or imported. Stringent checks. sad

Only processed, canned food may be exempted, based on the fact that the health authorities abroad within that country, have done their due diligence before it gets to the airport, to certify that the food is fit for consumption. undecided

The fact that anything is acceptable in Nigerian airports, does not mean the same thing happens in a foreign airport, especially in Western countries.

Secondly, you claim that the person who ordered the pizza from London, can also ask a random Joe to accompany the pizza to Nigeria. Really?? So according to you, a person would book a full airline ticket that costs thousands of naira, to get one random Joe on an international flight, just to bring pizza that costs less than one-thirtieth of a full passenger's economy ticket, simply because he wants to eat pizza in Nigeria? Abeg, let me laugh very well at the ridiculousness of the situation. cheesy

What stops such a person from hopping on to a plane to London, to visit his favourite pizza joint to eat the stuff? grin

How much does pizza cost in London, again? grin

Like I said, the people that fall in that category are some overly eccentric money miss roads unlike the two of us. Their rationale is beyond what I can explain.

Travel / Re: Everything You Should Know About The “black Box” Of An Airplane by Shayooluwah(m): 9:36am On Mar 29, 2019
Donchukz:
I have been thinking about this ,can't the engineers just manufacture something that will automatically eject passengers automatically from the plane ✈,when a disastrous problem arises,or something that can cocoon all that's onboard the plane in the eventuality of accident.

Number one the system that would be needed to deploy the parachute system is very costly. Air travel is majorly about cutting costs.

Secondly the ejector system required for each parachute would be too heavy as it'll require fuel and a propulsion system. The added weight would mean more money spent of fuel for the airline, hence it'll increase cost.

Thirdly most passengers are not trained on how to handle emergency situations in the air let alone parachuting.

I'm sorry something cocooning up the plane would have to be a force field or something like that, and that's still science fiction for now. And we are not there yet technological, by the time we are able to do that. I don't think we'll need airplanes for travelling anymore.

Oga, please go back and read my post with understanding before making a comment. I was referring to the food quarantine and inspection officers at the UK airports, not in Nigeria. Everything edible is inspected before it is allowed to fly.

Your friend buying pizza abroad and carrying it in their hand luggage to eat in Lagos, is NOT the same as placing an order for unaccompanied pizza from a restaurant and flying it into Nigeria.

Please do your checks, talk to those involved in international logistics and don't believe everything you hear or read. Audu Ogbeh talked about ordering pizza over the phone from London, and getting it delivered in Naija. Haba!

You did not specify which inspection officers you were referring to. I know be spirit how I go know.

And why do you presume the pizza has to be unaccompanied. Whoever paid for the order can also have a random Joe accompany his box of Pizza. Even if it means he has to pay a little more.

There's no flawless agency in the world, British or Nigerian. Once you know the inner workings of the system you can bend it how you like.

Despite what you believe it is still very do able for the people that have the means. Everyone is claiming the Minister is saying nonsense. My reason for defending him is, how do you know it's not true? You don't know everything that goes on in the country, someone from a vantage point now says something, but because it sounds improbable you begin to call him all sorts of names. Not nice

No need to get angry. Shalom brother.

There is a flight almost every hour from Lagos to Abuja, on different airlines. It does not cost much to cargo a bowl of cooked beans from Lagos to Abuja.

The flight is not more than 45 minutes to 1 hour at most. And how much does it cost to convey a kilo of cargo by air, within Nigeria? What is the weight of one bowl of beans?

But sending pizza from London to Lagos, is a far fetched rumour. People like to spread hype and rumour. sad How would such food escape the eagle eyes of the food quarantine people in the UK? Right at their airport? shocked

How would you send pizza on a 6-8 hour flight, from London to Lagos and expect it still to be fresh, especially considering the cheese and other stuff used in it? Anyone who offers such things to you, is doing you a diservice. Pizza is best served hot.

Yes, there are coolers you can put it in, and cooler bags that can be used, but at the end of the day, the pizza would have lost its freshness. And by the time inspection agents pass it through their processes, before declaring that it can be transported, you can imagine the condition of that pizza. Is it worth the hassle?

You've got a point. But the people that I believe are indulged in such acts, do not care about money. The act in itself is penny wise and pound foolish. I mean why order a pizza for only God knows how much and still pay a hefty price for the transportation, when you can get it for less than 5k. Dominoes Pizza is not that bad na Baba. But then again they do not care about the monetary implication.

As to food quarantine customs bla bla. This is Nigeria. If you know your way and have the means. You can basically get away with anything. That has been proven to us times without number.

As to the condition of the pizza, leave that to the preference of the person who ordered it. I like that you mentioned a cooler can be used. I'll also like to point out that a fridge can also be used. If the person likes it fresh or not that's his business, if he liked fresh pizza he won't have been ordering it from a country a time zone away. And he can always warm it by the time he receives his not so fresh pizza.

The point remains that ordering pizza from U.K to Nigeria is very possible, and I believe some money miss roads might be involved in the act.

To buttress my point I'll add a personal experience. Back when I was still in Junior school, when pizza was not yet a big deal in Nigeria. A family friend returning from the U.S bought pizza before boarding their flight, they did not finish it, so they kept it. By the time they got to Nigeria and we had gone to visit them. They brought out the box of pizza warmed it and we enjoyed it.

So tell me once again why some overly eccentric person cannot order a box of pizza and have it delivered to him in Nigeria. Shebi na him get him money.

If you people have not met crazy people I have, i don't doubt him a bit that some Nigerians order pizza from abroad.
I have a friend who's dad do pay for cooked beans from Ghana high restraunt Lagos and they will fly it to Abuja or Delta state.

On Fridays we will buy the beans, take it to airport for it to be delivered to him.
Some Nigerians are sick, when I raised this issue yesterday someone told me of a popular person who gets his bread from London.

God bless you my brother. I don't know why some people choose to be so myopic about this whole thing. Nigerians are very eccentric people when they have the resources. Instead of reasoning with the man they decide to call the man all sorts of names, like they don't have a father at home. Is it so far fetched to buy pizza and put it on the first plane out of London? I'm sure that would not be the craziest thing a Nigerian would have done.
