Is English the issue here or what?

Please ; you can also back your assertions up with a legitimate link.
That NLNG controls 10% of the entire LNG market in the world?

Read more about the company here.

Shma2023:
NOPE!

A company is only foreign if the government has zero or less of other shareholders stake.
If the government owns huge amount of shares ; and they have the control of who owns(eg, kenyans owns nearly Quater of Saf, and our govent does nearly twice that) what and what goes where when and how ; then you don't say because a certain org has a certain shareholding then the company is wholly shared. No!
Hogwash!!

Your Government is not the Largest shareholder in Safaricom, that honor belongs to Vodafone/Vodacome, they hold the controlling stake.

Same way the Nigerian government own 30% stake in Dangote Refinery, yet we all know who will really dictate the tune in the company.

NNPC is literally the biggest oil company on the African continent.

Shma2023:
It is.

Just get your facts right.
How ?

NNPC PBT is almost up to Safaricom entire revenue.

So how can safaricom be bigger that NNPC.

NLNG controls 10% of the entire LNG market in the world and posted revenue in excess of 9 billion dollars, that’s almost your entire stock exchange value.

I know but they would argue.
They would insist since the parent company is foreign, then it must be foreign.
Then safaricom is a foreign company then.

Vodafone/vodacom is the largest shareholder at 40%.

Again, that's not what I addressed. Mind you_ we can dig dipper and invent per-capita. I kid you not, Nigeria is struggling in that regard, and by virtue of having several single-owned companies. Why are foreign companies thriving in Nigeria? Population! Kenya is good at where we are.

Safaricom is the biggest company in kenya and Nigeria ; do you agree? YES or NO answer will suffice.
Nope.

Safaricom is not bigger that NNPC limited and NLNG.

But both are not listed and traded on the stock exchange .

Lol. BUA cement is part of the top four. BUA cement and Dangote cement combined is around 16.9 Billion dollars, bigger than the entire Kenyan market share.
Only 3 companies from the Nigerian top ten are foreign.
MTN, Airtel, and Nestle.
MTN Nigeria is not foreign, Nestle Nigeria is also not wholly foreign, only Airtel NG has a significant foreign shares that local shares.

And Kenya biggest company safaricom is not wholly owned by Kenyans.

Kenya is done for bro, inter agency transaction in Kenya is already being done in dollars, I suggest you sell your remaining property in Kenya when there is still a semblance of sanity.

Use the money to set up yourself in Tanzania, that’s the only way out for you.

You’ve already join Somalia in the list of failed state in the region.

Owing salaries is not the main problem but it's a pointer to the fact that things are more rotten in little India, especially with the finances , than we thought. The country is broke and very soon will no longer be able to meet its obligations- salaries, pensions, debts payment, infrastructure, etc.
The government will no longer be able to perform its duties.

The 900k govt employee he is talking about are the civil servants, they hold the fabric of the state.

Once they are gone, Kenya is done for, another failed state added to the list of failed state in Africa.

It’s such a shame , they held so much promise.

Strength of currency is ability to wistand inflation..the normative value is irrelevant.Currency job is to store value..if one Vietnamese wong is 10,000 to usd ..next year it still 10,000 wrong to dollar..wong strong.if like Ghana you remove 5 zeros..start at one to one with dollar..five-year later its 15 cedis to dollar..the real value is 50,000 times 15..cedis has weaken n created poverty.Cedis real value is 1 dollar to 50k times 15..useless currency. Only a slowpoke would see cedis as valuable...it useless
We are basically saying the same thing, the strength of a currency is not it’s conversion rate to USD.

Big news for Nigerian railway modernization.

West Africa's first-ever rolling stock assembly plant
was completed in Kajola, Ogun state.

The plant will produce some wagons for the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna rail line in🇳🇬Nigeria.
The plant would offer an important platform for technicians, artisans, and others to gain specialized skills for the production and maintenance of rolling stocks.

It depends. If you were exceeding your OPEC quotas - definitely refining would be profitable.
For now all the refining profit - will go to Dangote - as he is choking in debt - and need to repay 26b dollars.

So Nigeria need to race towards overproduction of crude oil - so the excess beyond OPEC quotas - can be directed to Dangote.

Oil has not much future in the next two decades.
You don't even know how OPEC quotas work, what an idiot.

The Quotas deal with Production not export, will OPEC tell you who you should sell your crude too?

What concerns OPEC if you sell your Production quotas to India or Dangote, what OPEC is concern about is to ensure price and supply stability in the global oil market

Nigeria will only benefit in forex term once they EXCEED their OPEC quotas.
Right now they cannot even meet OPEC quotas.

Thanks to vandalism, under investment and stealing of crude.

Nigeria OPEC limits are more than 2 million barrels a day.

Now they are luckly to do 1.3-1.5m.
We cannot lose what we did not have, stop thinking with your anus.

The FX we gain by EXPORTING crude oil is spent by IMPORTING petroleum.

You lose 300K barrel in forex.
You gain 300K of refined fuel.
Zero sum game.
Now Nigeria economy and people will pay off Dangote 25B dollars.
And the man is vampire.

If it was gov owned refinery maybe you will celebrate

But knowing Dangote - I pity you smiley
Dumb fellow.

The economic activity from refining 300k of crude in Nigeria > Exporting 300k of crude by shell.

Government have no business in operating a refinery, Refinery operation is not a social project or infrastructure, it's best to leave it in private hand. Stop thinking like dumb communist.

Nigeria government owns a 20% stake in the refinery, that's enough.

How is Nigeria now when it produced it own cement versus when it imported.

Are you buying cement at almost twice kenya.

Use your brain Dangoteland slave.

The price of a 40kg bag of cement in kenya = $12

The price of 40kg bag of cement in Nigeria = $8

rvp20182:
Dangote refinery was supposed to be completed in 2019 - now we in 2023 - and has overshoot the cost - by 10B dollars.
I am not sure what excitement is about - Dangote will rip Nigeria apart.
And in terms of forex impact - Zero impact - Dangote will take your crude oil that was be exported - add value by refinery.
So you'll have less forex from export of crude - and you'll save from importing from India and rest.

And where you problems begin - Dangote like to sell more expensive than if you had imported from efficient refiners.
You are obviously deluded and don't know what you are talking about, you will never gain much from exporting primary product. There will be no incentive to drive oil production, only giant foreign company and corrupt government entity that can bare the cost will be involved, and they will export the crude with no value added.

There is basically no benefit to our crude being exported, because the FX earned from exportation is further spent in importing the processed and refined oil back into the country and then scarce dollar will still be spent on subsidy to the oil marketers.

Nigeria is now going to have an entire value chain built around oil industry, this will be an inclusive growth, and that's exactly what we need. Nigeria greatest commodity will now be traded in Naira, if you want to buy it, you will need to go and source for naira, and even if we continue with fuel subsidy, it will also be paid for in Naira.

A few months since the EAC deployment and failure is proclaimed? Bunkum.
Take a look at a map and take in the size of eastern DRC. Plus the fact you have over 40 different armed groups there; most of whom are civilians by day and pillaging marauders by night. Coupled with some working with and for the DRC govt, and therefore can't be disarmed by external actors like the EAC or Monusco.
Then there's Rwanda, sponsoring M23 whilst a member of the EAC. Chadian and Central African Republic rebels have also been known to raid whenever the whim takes them.

The problems in the Kivus are complex and require a DRC govt with complete impartiality with no favourites. Anybody expecting quick resolution is naive at best and dissembling at worst.

Should the EAC not report its successes somewhere because there are attacks elsewhere?
This article is superficial BS by a parachuted journo driven more by an agenda, than enlightening his readers.
But the Goals the EACRF is meant to achieve is not being pursued.

There were meant to be an “offensive” force deployed from Haut-Uele to South Kivu.

What they are doing now is a bare imitation of that operating as a peacekeeping force in a comparatively small part of North Kivu.

The EACRF are meant to actively assist the Congolese state government in eradicating the rebels, but now you are having a situation where they are unwilling to engage the M23 even as the rebels continue to seize more territory.
