Some new that I'm testing. Here goes anyways. Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known for his stage name Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. He met the Cash Money Records collective as a teenager and eventually recorded for the label. He was a member of the rap group, Hot Boys. He was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. and grew up in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. Dwayne was in the gifted program at Lafayette Elementary School, and was in the drama club in middle school. At age eleven, he met Bryan Williams, rapper and owner of Cash Money Records. Wayne recorded freestyle raps on Williams' answering machine; Williams would eventually mentor the young Wayne and include him in Cash Money-distributed songs. He dropped out of school at age 14. At the age of 16, Wayne had a daughter named Reginae Carter with Antonia "Toya" Johnson, his high school sweetheart. The two later divorced. In 1997, Wayne formed the group Hot Boys along with rappers Juvenile, Turk, and B.G., who released their debut CD Get It How You Live that year. In 1998, the group's major-label debut Guerrilla Warfare was released; it was followed in 2003 by Let Em Burn. The first music album to feature Lil Wayne's vocals was the debut album of the Cash Money-signed group Hot Boys titled Get It How You Live!, released in 1997; Lil Wayne was the youngest member of that group. In 1998, Wayne was featured on the song "Back That Azz Up" by Juvenile. The second album by the group, titled Guerrilla Warfare, was released in 1999 before Wayne's solo debut was released. Ok, inorder to rejuvenate this part of Nairaland, some few measures have been taken to sanitize the threads and as such, it is mandatory for me to do this. EVERY RAP ARTIST THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT IN THIS FORUM BEFORE 2ND JUNE, 2008 SHOULD PLEASE CHECK-IN ON THIS THREAD. (I said 'THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT', y'all know what I mean, you must have been active. If you are new, you have to open a new thread for yourself). Also, I have a request to make to a few people: 1. Menike - You've been holding the Rap Freestyles Thing down for a while, much props. I think we're due for the 3rd version now, if you would kindly set up the thread, it'll be placed as a sticky. All freestyles in this forum will henceforth be posted in it. Thanks. 2. Chiogo - The Rap Retrospection thread was your idea, so we'd like for you to start another volume. Thanks in anticipation. Other needs would be brought across as they arise |
Slug the next round |
Next person should type something that rhymes e.g Clubs get shut out |
This basicaly as to do with 4 words. I'll paste 4 words and the next person to me will paste another 4 words - but those words have to rhyme with mine and the next person continues this rhyme scheme. OK, I'll start with Knock the boy down |
Juss had the idea of this cypher. Just spit 2 random bars on what you ma' do if you don't make it as a rapper (PS could be fictional too). I'ma go first: If I don't make it as a rapper, I'd be a rap writer Quote all my text battles include all my past cyphers Prolly sell the books on an hanger for a fiver Get home to rack the ranked stacks cuz I'm a surviver |

We got a moderator now, so any further suggestions should be posted under the rules at the top of this forum. Thanks |
Hey y'all thanks, I'm short of words for the first time but anyhoo, thanks all the same. And yeah, don't forget to check the RULES of the Rap Battles Forum. Nuff Respect, Brid. I'ma be definately up for the next tourney. .Peace |
Finally, the Rap Heads' prayers have been answered - we now have a Moderator, me. So there are some rules that have to be in place, first-and-foremost. 1. Always regard Nairaland's Rules and Regulations - https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-1026.0.html 2. Avoid freeposting. There would be zero-tolerance concerning posts that were created to spite other members and off-topics would be removed to the Recycle Bin. Then, there are other rules: 1. If you are new to this part of the forum, make an introductory thread to announce your presence. This is to make existing members cognizant of your presence on the forum. The thread would then be deleted by me after one week. 2. If you're going to vote on a battle a. You must vote on all categories. You cannot add your own categories. b. You must give a description of why you voted on each category. If it's only 3 cats. A small description would be fine just to filter out hate/privates riding votes. 3. If you're going to start a battle. a. When you start the battle, everyone knows to state "House rules", "How many bars" so on and also state what the categories for the battle. No matter what, and the voters must stick to the cats for that battle or their votes will be deleted. If you do not state the categories for the battle your battle will not start. Simple as that. b. If you do not callout your opponent and then start-up a thread on this forum, the battle will be deleted immediately. c. You must check-in to battle thread before anyother thing. d. Default Categories: Punchlines Personals Flow Wordplay Nameplay Multies Entertainment e. House Rules- 6 Bars Max No Dickriding/Hate Votes No Flipping, Biting, Recycling First to 5 votes wins, 3-0=K.O. (4-1=T.K.O.) Deadline is 48-hours after battle is set up. f. Custom Rules: Basically make up your own rules, Bar limit must be given. First to # of votes must be given. Anything else you don't have to include, however they will not be takin into effect. g. Call Outs- If your OPEN callout has not been accepted do not repost another OPEN callout. Once it's accepted you may create another OPEN call out. Multipl call outs are only permitted if they're to different emcee's. NO callout to the same emcee consistently or simultaneously is necessary. Miscellanous Rules 1. If voting for your battle stays open longer than 2 weeks it'll be closed with the winner being whose up in votes, if its a tie it'll be left open the next person to vote will decide the winner. 2. If your oppenent doesn't show up withing 2 weeks after your verse is posted they'll be automatically DQ'd no matter what excuse they give, they'll just have to call you out again. 3. Once the second verse is posted both verses can only be altered/fixed for a period of one hour, if their is proof that you edited the verse after the one hour time frame you will be DQ'd. Above all, stay out of trouble - don't disrespect other members and try as much as possible to use Standard English in your posts. Also, NO DOUBLE POSTING OF TOPICS - search before you create one to avoid duplication. Thank you for reading all of this. I hope this is lucid as can be. If you have any questions or additions, post them below. Thanks. UPDATE: PLS READ. ZERO_TOLERANCE OF FREEPOSTING. THIS IS INORDER BATTLES TO MAKE THE BATTLE VERSES EASIER TO VIEW INSTEAD OF READING OFF-POINTS AND LOSING INTEREST IN THE VERSES THEMSELVES. ANY OFF-TOPIC POST WILL BE SEVERED. THANKS. |

It's not a Brit's only list, but it's sure got loads of Britishers in it. Band Aid 20 song was a charity song made by most UK singers to aid the poor people in Africa during Christmas. The Peter Kay's song 'Armarillo' is another charity song for cancer patients. But don't tell me you don't know Shaggy and his It Wasn't Me |

Erm. .this is a topic I find hard myself. . which Mariah Carey is better? The former, tamed Mariah or the new, wild, 'I've seen it all' Mariah Carey? If you don't understand what that means, I meant before Mariah Carey used to be more solemn and used to sing more touching songs, eg.
[li]I give my all[/li] [li]More Than A Friend[/li] [li]Always be My Baby[/li]
Then after 'The Emancipation of Mimi' in the millenium, she kind of changed form 'RnB' to 'Pop' & 'Hiphop' kind of genres, eg.
[li]Say Sumn'[/li] [li]Touch My Body[/li] [li]Bye Bye[/li]
Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear you out on this and Welcome to the Great Music Debate #2 brought to you by DARN!

Anyone heard Soulja Boy's song - REPORT CARD a.k.a Thro' Some Ds - what do you think about it? Is it a song that could influence children in a negative way? Towards the end of his 'Yahh Trick Yahh' song, there was addition of the some 'Thro Some Ds' song and at the end, Soulja Boy said, "I'm only kiddin', y'all know I get straight As. . .". Do you think this statement is enough for children to believe? Incase you aint heard the song, its lyrics are as follows: "Report Card" (feat. Arab) You know when you jut get your report card and you have all fs on it you just want to take it back to the teacher and say through some ds on that bitch Ballin! Love the ROLL IT! and DO ME - video and song. . at least we know where we're headin' to in Nigeria with songs. . but abeg, let me correct something - why do people like comparing this and that, that and this? This attitude gast stop cuz apparently, nothng but beef is coming out of it. My dear 2 cents. |
@Chronique, honestly, this' ma be the last time i'm replyin on this. meant for opinions, innit what u said? i gave mines and you're jumpin on my neck like i ate ur fish or sumn. and for rap, rhythm and pattern is the most sought after that's why you have categories for analysing verses: 'delivery' and 'flow' and 'multis' so yeah, you're a little too much old school on that. I'm not sayin Eedris ain't a good artiste, I'm sayin he's not a rapper. . I won't call Soulja Boy a rapper too, d'you get my gist now? Commercial success doesn't make you what you're not. Cuz Nas is a good rapper, does it make him a good poet/writer? Just for the records, I've listened to bare Eedris song's, even the lecturer one, pretty edy-taining stuff but he ain't a rapper, simple as ABC. Cuz a goat walks and eats with the dogs doesn't make it a dog. Look now, y'all got me spittin' proverbs. Like the saying goes, opinions are assholes, everybody is entitled to one - y'all stop jumpin on my asshole (opinions), it's private property. |
Yo, Knife , I'm calling you out now. You got 24 hours. Goodluck |
