Many people will still not learn; and they will be living on the mainland and running to island to earn 40/50k, so that they will say they work on the island with yeye coat and tie... grin

Leave house 6am, return home 9/10pm due to traffic, instead getting a job at Ikeja or Ogudu or Gbagada etc ... The worse are those living at Ikorodu areas and working at VI grin
Some Nigerians are the cause of their problem must everybody lives in Lagos before you can make it in Nigeria. A person receiving the same amount in other states will still survive and manage that money if he or she knows what he/she is doing. Must everybody lives in Lagos??

I don't know how will a person who is new to programming who doesn't know anything about programming, hasn't familiar with any language before talk less of understanding it will immediately jump to hacking just like that. Haahaaa!!! Let us know what we are doing oooo on this Nairaland.
Programming › Re: Learn These Two Forever In-demand Programming Skills And Never Run Out Of Money! by Sheriman(m): 10:44am On Oct 13, 2021
For this again now some Nairaland zero purpose directionless programmers will abandon their initial learning language to opt in for this new framework.
No ambition programmers they always learn Java today you will see them going to JavaScript tomorrow then next week is Scala the other subsequent months again they say they have abandoned the language to learn Go after it they are now learning Ruby Kotlin Python Django meanwhile at the end of the year they would not achieve anything. Learn, read, practice, stay, master one language. Be a professional in one language and develop greater things with it. No programming language is better than the other each of them were established and meant to create or solve specific things or purpose. The idea of jumping from one language framework to other is bad. You need to stop this if you want to excell as a programmer.
Happy coding!!!

Useless leaders na only Oil dem know any other technological and modern innovation means to generate funds to finance the state dem know sabi anything.
Useless set of leaders as if dem designate the state now E go use the oil money to turn the state to New York Paris Rome Dubai London Los Angeles Lisbon Berlin.
All the Oil producing states in Nigeria still look so poor and dirty. No meaningful infrastructural projects no good roads no good affordable housing units for average citizens of the state. No technical and innovation hub. Nothing to show that they are oil producing state. This Oil has cause a huge problem to Nigeria as a whole. Oil oil oil oil Everytime.
Programming › Re: Dear Developers: How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated. by Sheriman(m):
What actually motivated and keep me going was the challenging part of programming. Programming will make you think deep and reason about life. Putting your ideas to life with codes imagine putting all those codes together to produce something that millions of people will use is something great enough to boost your morale.
Personally, I want to stick with only one language and fully understand it, build something with it, know it data structures and algorithms. I don't buy the idea of want to learn all the programming languages like some people here on Nairaland. They want to know everything from Django, Go, Scala, JavaScript, Objective C, Python, Java, Flutter, React Native C++ C#. This is too much for a person instead of wasting so much time on want to knowing all these languages why can't want to be programmer just stay with one language and master it. Each of those languages has their own specific usage it is for the want to be programmer to choose the one that suit his/her niche and can find available resources or documentation online to read also practice practice practice and practice.
To be a good programmer you need to work hard. Infact, sometimes you will denying yourself of something. Nothing good comes easy. Sometimes I woke up in the midnight to write some codes read Google documentation on Jetpack compose and some other necessarily Android framework. What about during the day I write codes everyday on my Laptop. Sometimes when I got tired or bored I play games or watch movies or went out to play with friends then later switch on to IntelliJ idea.
I have a good HP laptop of 16GIG of RAM with 4GIG of Nvidia graphics card.
Android Studio, IntelliJ idea and Adobe XD for UI/UX Mobile App designer all installed on my machine
I have my superb very sharp mouse.
I have a good furniture table and chair to feel relaxed while writing codes.
Light in my area is 80% steady.
My problem sometimes is money to buy data. MTN won finish me patapata!! If I struggle to subscribe 3GIG is like 300MB.
My people, programming is not that difficult if you are not a lazy type or someone that easily give up on something that they don't quickly seem to understand. If you're are ready to denying yourself of something you love doing then you will truly understand the programming language you want to use and be able to do something with it.
Happy coding!! to all my fellow determine and serious programmers on Nairaland either upcoming, junior or senior developers.

Those people who are saying ill statement about Islam here are nothing but fools and fucking hypocrites. If this happen in one Nigerian household I am sure nothing of such rubbish will be uttered here. Flogging and slapping are part of punishment in Africa it is when it comes too much or getting to dehumanizing that child then we can say it is a crime. What is religion of Islam correlate with this brutal flogging. We have heard how Pope had sex with teenage boys in Europe and America does that correlate with Catholicism or Christianity. How will you people feel if they use that bad incident to condemned Christianity or judge all the Pope that they are all doing it. I just don't know why the hate for Islamic religion? Islam is a faith on its own also people will surely shows their individual wicked behavior towards each other. I think we should becareful of taking one incident that happen to judge the whole Muslims and Islam.
I also condemned this barbaric act. This is dehumanizing not punishment or discipline

irodam5:
University knowledge is largely irrelevant to actual production coding, especially for business applications. Algorithms you learn in school are largely already coded better in existing libraries and are going to work well enough, and better than most implementations a guy out of school could code (since whoever coded the library has run into all the gotchas, performance bottlenecks, etc.). It is only in rare cases and levels of scale beyond most programs are going to encounter that there is a real requirement to improve on the existing implementations.
Programming is much more than knowing a coding language. The real skill comes from understanding problems, having experience with different types of solutions and knowing the best to apply, and techniques for experimentation.
And also very important is a general ability to do your own research and learn new things, because programming is a constantly changing environment - so I think that many successful programmers are exactly the kind of people that can learn without the structured university environment, which is why they could learn on their own, and how they continue to keep up to date and continually learn more. The constant learning is crucial to good programming, and many people who only went through university courses never had to demonstrate that ability.
Programming is also very well suited to individual learning, as once you have the computer experimentation uses up very little resource other than time (and a bit of electricity). But you can build and rebuild, experiment with one technique, then another - and not have to buy more materials, or tear anything down. So a self-learner can try lots of different ideas until they find what works best. And then a week later realize the problems that approach causes elsewhere, and try something else new to deal with those problems. Again, this type of experimentation is what makes great programmers great, and the same skill set allows them to learn independently.
I’ve worked with and hired programmers with and without university degrees, and had more success with the self-taught guys. The stuff the university guys knew from an academic computer-science aspect were pretty useless to building business facing applications.

No IT Company ask for your BSc. in Computer science certificate just as a movie producer wont ask if you studied Performing arts before giving you role in acting.. I would rather encourage people to study programming as a skill and study other courses as a profession.
As it is currently, IT companies both home and abroad hires you base on what you can do and have done in the IT world irrespective of your discipline in the university.

A man that has been fingered in so many corruption scandals that foolish people wants to make president .

I will rather support Atiku should Tinubu be made APC flag bearer
Even me I will rather vote Buhari for 3rd Term than supporting that Colorado Cocaine pusher turn Political Taliban in Nigeria having all one state treasury in his God damn pocket

Programming is not that hard especially if u have science or engineering background or u are not too scared of logical problems and u if u were used to solving maths problem.
.
The real problem with programming is the focus and tenacity to keep practising everyday.
.
If u can overcome this obstacle of focus, concentration, and consistent practise, u will be shocked in 6months of rigorous focus of what u can create with any programming language.... May God give us focus for productive venture and take away distraction from social media, Nairaland, Facebook, Instagram and twitter from your lives.
...............This is from experience.
Yeah you nailed it. Many Nigerians wish or want to learn programming but some are suffering from phobia for coding and the distraction of all these social media together with lazyness on their own part.
Programming is not that hard as people think.

Can only one person build Facebook Instagram or Twitter?? These giant platforms are co build by 4 or 5 people of talented programmers who come together to share ideas suggestions and resources of how they can develop a great Application for people to use.
We lack this features in Nigeria. We don't want to partner with each other to build a great things. We don't even have enough of those resources and we don't want to spend our hard earn money to something we are not sure of or skeptical about it's end result.
Reason why we can't have any of those giant platforms in Nigeria.
