rusher14: Some of us know you simply choose to be mischievious.
Did he say ALL youth of Nigeria are lazy?
Besides semantics, I put it to you, the Nigerian youth do not display enough creativity.
How much research, patents, world class artistic work would you find in our institutions? Let me guess..that's government's fault.
Ok let's go to the number of our young people who have access to the internet. How many are involved in programming, animation, international research syndicates?
Let me guess...that's the government's fault.
Here on Nairaland, start a topic with a misleading headline and wait to find how many would spot the disconnect between the headline and the body of the message.
Let me guess... it's the government's fault.
The youth of Nigeria are lacking in creativity and please don't give me Nollywood and Afro music. It can take only a few entrants.
We need people who want to create and constantly think of solutions.
We need people who channel their energy positively and not in cult activities, Yahoo or drug use.
Talking about drugs, this poor nation is experiencing a new wave of drug abuse...tramadol, codeine, skunk etc. That's what the nation is about.
Many Nigerians are of the misconception that the country is rich but the reality is that we aren't.
Yes we have the potential to be wealthy, but we are a poor nation in every way, shape or form.
It is your choice to accept the criticism.
You can go renegade and discount it. It is your life, your future. Play it as you wish. You made a few points sir, but everyone cannot become programmers, I'm into programming even though I didn't study computer science in school, not because I didn't want to but admission issues and pressure made me look elsewhere cos time was going, I learnt all I know in web development today through online tutorials and videos. What I'm driving at is Nigerian Youths (majority as said by the president) aren't lazy, it's circumstances that made some of us result to vices et al. What we need are very few highly innovative minds to help improve our current status as a country and our educational system has a major role to play in that aspect. Not everyone will be like some of us that self educate ourselves. Quality education is very paramount to development of any nation and sadly we lack that here. The youths can do very little in reforming the education sector. |

There are just some certain things that girls do that guys won't dream of doing. Come to my school hostel and see girls touching each other's breast, slapping their butts, pecking on the cheeks and jokingly touching a girl's vjay saying "this your thing don dry, you need a d1ck".
Lol Most of those love and affection things are fake and not from the heart. |

Whosoever must have written that speech is a big fool. The president himself is not alright for reading such nonsense. What do they mean by Nigerian youths are lazy and want everything free?
You provide nothing for us as a government. No constant electricity, no enabling environment to make young creative minds thrive, no security, bad roads, no accessible loans to aid young minds in their business, terrible educational system, poor healthcare services, useless laws and government policies that favour just the politicians and their types. All of your children schooled overseas (Mr. President, his vice and many of the senators and cabinet members).
You know what Mr. President, you and all of our past leaders, administrations made the youth what they are today. The youth struggle even in this mess your kinds created many years ago and still adding to our miseries to make a mark and help the economy and country in any way they can. Cos of bad governance from your kinds youth engage in vices, and all sorts of bad behaviors just to make ends meet.
And what of the freelancers, the innovators, the gee boys that bring in lots of forex to help boost the economy in their little ways, will you tag them lazy? even when they achieved this with NO HELP from the government?
Mr. President you just said arrant nonsense and further continue to mess the hardworking youth of this country up in presence of other countries. Now many countries will see the youths of this country as you have portrayed us even if just a very few percentage are what you are talking about. |

bigpicture001: ...it's appalling how workers are shortchanged for peanuts...the employer would rather spend d excess on club,or on gals of easy virtue or mayb by cars after cars after another car....somone has to stop dix rubbish It's only our government that can do that. These employers follow the government lead. Imagine when the government pays #18,000 as minimum wage(monthly) why won't the employers be happy to treat workers anyhow. The best bet is to introduce hourly payment scheme at all levels, both government and private sector, till then, workers will continue to be treated as trash. |

Business › Re: What Can Govt Do To Reverse The Trend Of Underpayments By Firms? by Sheuns(m): 12:00pm On Apr 18, 2018 |
What I feel the government has to do is introduce per hour payment system as practiced in many countries. They can peg payment at #500 minimum per hour. If this is introduced, workers can work at different places and employers will mind how they use workers anyhow.
Imagine the people working at the betshop 8am-9pm that's 13hrs of work a day with maybe 1hr break getting paid 15k at the end of the month. If they were paid hourly @ #500 that'll be #6,500 a day the employer will have to do a sort of rotation in work days as he'll know paying all the staff that amount daily will wreck him and this will in turn give workers chance to work elsewhere on their off days. |
