According to the authorities of Lead uni. the school has all but one program accredited, so what could be their offense? I know there r tons of public schs running more unaccredited programs than Lead university.

rhymz: hahahaha. . At times I find it hard to believe that these people actually are humans with functining brains in their head. The management of these private Universities are more interested in making profit and increasing public patronage. From Madonna to Convenant to Lead City, they are all thesame thing. The only difference is the level of infrastructure they have but their management style is thesame, their philosophies are tied to one thing-maximizing profits. Before now, the Law department in Leed City was scrapped and the school took the matter to court. My friend there told me that the school fees increase was done in every session, she told me how some people had to drop along the way when it became obvious they could not continue to foot the bills.
In convenant, there have been reports of how Oyedepo and his gang arbitrarily rusticated almost a hundred students some in their final year, all because they did not come to the "assembly hall" or whatever they call their gathering with bibles. Imagine!!! We have heard of stories how the handlers in this school threaten and attack the psychy of students by using statements like, "your opinions do not matter", "you chose us, we did not choose you", all in a bid to pass the message that there is no freedom of expression of thoughts here. A Muslim student has been denied admission in convenant before on the basis of his religion, yet these rascals stand on the pulpit and preach about love and tolerance. Go to their website, there is no such thing as bursery or scholarship scheme, everyone pays for their education. The system inside the school is an autocratic one, you are not allowed to do anything until "Papa Go" says you can, you can't even think independly without the intimidating presence of Oyedepo sprawling all over your thoughts.
Na this kind schools na im person wan carry go outside naija and expect their certificates to be taken seriously. What qualification does Oyedepo hold to be the VC of a school? How many Professors, associate profs, visiting profs, exchange program and co do the students and staff engage in. . How many of their lecturers go on sabbatical anyway. With all the money they collect, why we never here of the 21 century state of the art engineering facilities in their schools, am curious to see their labs and machines. . All we see are just buildings occupying space. . .private University indeed

I challenge u prove ur allegation of expulsion of about a hundred student for failing to bring their bible along for any form of gathering and that of empty buildings and laboratories.

If they can't state the offenses of these schools then they are probably out to blackmail and extort them. Most pple 've already made up their mind to see private universities as a sort of goldmine, a place where money rules. Let them state their offenses and let all who know the schs in question testify.

The truth is most public schools don't have enough lecturers for full time programmes, the only reason for part time on the side of most school authority is greed, most of the student of these part time programme get extorted twice the amount they extort regular students for half their lecture. Instead of fulltime students recieving lectures for shorter hours on weekdays and part time students take over on weekends, regular students should recieve lectures and practicals on weekdays and weekends.

U said the course is a core enginering course for 200 level students in faculty of tech but one single lecturer goes to CU and lecture all their Engineering students in a day right?

Maybe . . . Maybe not . . . But reality is public schools are poo 98% of the time. No lecturer who has passed through a uni will just decide to dash out marks. In fact, that is the reason why we have external examiners from the public school who come in to assess lectures/lecture note/exams standard every semester. I know most public school grads are hearing this for the first time in their life.

dayohope1: I see. Now I know why they do have so many first class graduates. In government owned universities, if you fail any paper, your GP is lowered by that failed paper. It also. Means that if you fail several papers in CU and able to pass your SUMMER papers, you could still graduate with a very strong first class. Can you imagine. In my work place, they work where they only talk but not where the soul of the organisation is.

So in your own school if u fail a course and are to redo it they cancel the initial one you 've failed and allow u have a clean slate before retaking that course or what exactly are u about here? In any case i would like to know that school u graduated from. It is easy to see why students of certain schools are denied anything close to a first class. The lecturers themselves know the students had to buy the marks they get and can't defend themselves. . . or how do we explain the daft poster i just qouted.

lillies: but lemme say xomtin. as a chemical engn. studnt i did cve 202 (strength of materials) in my 200level days. i recvd my lectures in cve 202 one hour everyday, monday tru thursday. and on friday my lecturer wud travel 2 CU 2 take ALL THE CVE courses from 1st 2 final year classes in 1 day.

Guy you are a bloody liar, i challenge u to name that lecturer. There are no such thing in the CU i know. I will like to know the name of that lecturer.
U said u recieved lecture on that course an hour a day for four days a week. That makes it a 4 unit course in your great ife whereas that same course is a two unit course in CU . . . If you are anything close to average, academically, then u shld know the implication of that silly and incriminating post of yours. A course a basic as 'strength of material' under the standard of CU as imposed by the sch itself must have a minimum of two resident lecturers with at least a master degree to anchor it. I wonder wetin u wan gain with this your lie oh.
And for your info, Strength of material as specified NUC is not a core chemical engineering course but you stupidly come on the pages of NL to drag the rep' of 'Great Ife' in the mud like u just did. . . I wonder how many hours you have to do you core chemical Engr. courses if at all they have the lecturers for those courses.
Another silly part of your post talks about one single lecturer from Ife taking all the CVE course of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 level students in a single day. Guy to be fair, your post reeks with stupidity and i don't see any reason not to call u a stupid lying fellow.

NUC goes to every private uni atleast once a year plus there are external examiners from public schools, it is a standard practice, i am surprised someone doesn't know this yet.

Mr. UI, few months back UI had similar number of first class grads from about 1500 graduating students and it was normal for NLders and Nigerians, why is Cu's own and that of Private Unis always different. There was a thread on that particular topic on Nairaland. U can Google it if you think i am lying.

We all know where 1st class is sold. In CU they don't sort, threaten, blackmail, or harrass the lecturers to get good grades. Your earn whatever u are eventually awarded in CU. Unlike most of these public school all u need do is be a good 'Yahoo boi' to make enuf money to buy urself good grades. Most of the folks condemning CU here are just hating for silly reasons.

Less than a year back, UI did the same thing CU has just done and no one saw anything bad with theirs. I wonder what the offence of Cu is. Like i said earlier on, congrats to all the new eagles!

cyril83: 88 first class outta 1,389 I think it's normal coz I cud remember the year I graduated we have about 62 1st class dat year....what you guyz don't know is that b4 the management cud approve their grades,proffessors frm differen schools will be invited to hold a panel and interview these brilliant ones,Mind you all these proffessors are not from their school...So stop criticising what you don't know,I belive these students merited it

That's in addition to the external examiners that come in to asess the standard of lectures/practicals from time to time and the NUC team.

Few months back Uni of Ibadan produce similar number of First class Grads from a thousand plus graduating student and we all applaud them, but a private uni does same and some silly posters here thinks the Graduates are robots who can't think.
