I don't know o! I'm just kidding around. Looks like your friend is one of the few sound ones we have around and would have done well regardless of where the capital comes from. With all the suffering and stagnant economy under Abacha, some people made their millions with whatever capital they could raise. Every period of hardship springs forth new set of opportunities, some will definitely capitalize on it, others will whine all through and achieve nothing. nnewsnjobs: Ok no wahala, but why Buhari stop Youwin which is initiative that will grow the economy and create jobs only to introduce shity Npower and trader moni, my friend has about 15 staff but the list earn more than Npower beneficiary. |

Some studied abroad with full scholarship and still came back home as campus classroom terrorists. How a university community could glorify 100-level Chemistry courses, Geology courses etc as tough courses beats the imagination. We accept all sorts of rubbish in this country . Bigredmachine: Being a lecturer in Nigeria is a very tough thing... The road is not smooth, so any lecturer in Nigeria who has passed through this tough road will see him or her self as Messiah

Career › Re: Discrimination Because Of The Kind Of University Attended. by Shikena(m): 3:00pm On Sep 18, 2021 |
FreeStuffsNG: @OP. Since you want a sincere response, please don't let anyone decieve you o, the calibre of university you attend matters. It's not only considered in Nigeria, it's done all over the world. In some countries and even here in Nigeria, even the calibre of Secondary school you attend matters too.
While it is true that in reality, we can't all attend high calibre universities but for university education, in particular, do not settle for less . If you have what it takes to attend high calibre university, please go for it. Those attending and finishing from those universities do not have two heads while some folks did not make those universities because of poor preparation and some of the kind of low quality advice you are being given here.
I always advice that in Nigeria, work very hard to attend and graduate from the the first generation universities of UNILAG, UNN, OAU, ABU and UI. In Nigeria, it is these 5 universities and the others. Shikena!
Just by reminder, just look at the array of alumni UNILAG is parading in this picture in 2021. 4 out of 6 governors in the SW are from a single university; University of Lagos (UNILAG) and someone is suggesting to you that it's a fluke? 3 governors from the SS attended UI( Edo, Delta & Cross Rivers) and one governor finished from UNILAG( Akwa Ibom). And even the Governor of Anambra state is an alumnus of UNILAG!
I know organizations that hire from only those 5 and most of them are leaders in their industries. Top consultancy firms particularly get talents from these universities. Have you not wondered why the best graduating student in UNILAG this year was already in Shell?
If you can, please attend only among those 5 but if you can't for first degree, attend them for second degree. By the time you graduate from any of these 5, you will know the difference. Those who didn't attend those 5 high calibre universities can't advice you that it doesn't matter. They want you to settle for less. The truth and nothing but the truth. If you can't go to the listed universities, find a postgraduate diploma or full masters program so you can have one of them on your CV. There will always be some exceptions but stop fighting a battle that you cannot win, or too difficult to win. The huge influence of the alumni network of those first 5 Nigerian universities is real! Life is short and you have a lot to do. |

Amalekki: Not joining your ongoing debate but got to ask what exactly did Obasanjo do, young man? Lagos-Ibadan Expressway? Railways? Airports? Seaports? Power? 2nd Niger Bridge? Mambilla? NITEL? Nigeria Airways? I agree with the statement that all our governments are outright failures. The effect of what all failed to do is what left all the loopholes that we are seeing today. Maybe that is the point the other guys were making, not necessarily defending Buhari. Thank you. That's my point, not defending Buhari's failures. |
Celebrities › Re: This Government Is A Failure - Mr Macaroni Tells Osinbajo by Shikena(m): 11:10pm On Aug 26, 2021 |
Masterkernel1: I guess you've backed out of fact-defense to rhetorics. I may be younger, but I'm very versed in economics.
If there's anybody that should have excuses, Obasanjo would have given a million and one excuses why he couldn't get things done. $30 billion debt while crude oil was selling at $17 per barrel.
Surprisingly... The $30 billion was accumulated from 1970 till 1999, while Buhari did that in just 6 years. Under Buhari Nigeria became poverty capital of the world.
According to United Nation, 350,000 Nigerians has been killed by insurgency, bandits and herdmens. Do you remember Nigerians dying like this aside the Civil War period? I assume by your expert knowledge of economics, $30m in 1999 is the same value as $30m in 2021. You should be teaching a basic concept like Time Value of Money in a village school |

We have never had it this bad. It's not even up for a debate. It's a fact. I disagree because I just found out that you are Atiku's newspaper vendor. You are only working for your 10k monthly gift Yes, we have always had it bad. Things opened up a bit with the advent of the internet, globalization and new business frontiers but we had no plan from one administration to the next. This administration is a continuation of a crystal clear trend! It's a fact!!! |
Celebrities › Re: This Government Is A Failure - Mr Macaroni Tells Osinbajo by Shikena(m): 10:48pm On Aug 26, 2021 |
Masterkernel1: By 1999 Nigerian debt has risen to $29,095,550,937 Nigeria External Debt 1970-2021.
Between the start of 2015 and December 2020, Nigeria's external debt profile has risen from $9.7 billion to $27 billion.
So... What's your argument? Jonathan left him with 9 $9.7 debt, in less than 6 years, Buhari has taken Nigeria back to the pit again. Factors: - Recession that started in 2014 - Oil price crash - Renewed focus on infrastructure development (railways, airports, roads, etc) Meaning, external debt profile does not tell the entire story about the state of your economy. If previous administration didn't opt to Dasuki our money or buy private mansions in Dubai etc with a chunk of the revenues during favorable oil price there may not be a need for unfavorable debts accrued from 2016. We were already on a downward spiral from every indicators (Ask Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi etc) hence the conclusion that what you see today is the end result of several decades of maladministration. There is a reason why Nigerians are traditionally described as short sighted as most could only see what is right on their nose and nothing beyond, we tend to focus on the symptoms depicted in the PRESENT. TOMORROW, Buhari will be a saint missed by many Nigerians who are rooting for Atiku, IBB, OBJ, Jonathan etc today . |

The politically naïve are all confused! When we tell you that our two major political parties today are just two sides of the same coin you feign ignorance Instead of useless online rantings, find a consensus candidate from a registered political party, publicise & enlighten the masses around you about your intention to rattle APC/PDP and vote massively for that candidate. Even if you fail to win, you will make a huge statement that will change the face of our politics. All you need to cause serious commotion in Nigerian politics is 25 million votes. That number is right there but most won't come out and vote. Most are just here ranting about politicians while they are quietly destroying Nigeria with their own personal corruption in their tiny corner somewhere in Nigeria. If given the opportunity, we know you are worse! . |

Masterkernel1: Look I don't want to argue blindly. That's the only reason why I asked you to choose any administration or regime with worse record, then we'll compare.
First, Obasanjo inherited the worst debt, yet he was awesome. Buhari is the only President to lead Nigeria into recession, not just once, but twice.
Tell me any area where he has performed. Then you are not ready for any conversation. You have just made a blind argument. What is worst debt? How much, present an argument that is not 'blind'. Nigeria had a recession that started in 2014, Buhari was not the president. So that's a false assertion. Also, Nigeria was officially in recession from 1982-1984 and also in 1991. Go and ask any elder that you know about Austerity Measures of Shehu Shagari towards the end of his tenure. |

This is what most of you don't want to hear, APC Party is not responsible for our failed system - our people and our political class are!!! Masterkernel1: Let's go with facts. Which administration or regime will you want us to compare? Age is on my side. All the previous administrations are at the same level with the present one. Whatever you see today is the fruit of various maladministration from previous governments. - Unemployment - Security - Infrastructure - Economy - Education - Healthcare Name it, it's all a continuation of a clear trend. All our previous governments are abysmal. |
