Politics / Oyo Deputy Gov: Ajimobi’s Family Knew I Was At The Gate by shinystar(m): 7:51pm On Jul 05, 2020
By Bisi Oladele, Ibadan
Oyo Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, has insisted the family of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi was aware of his presence at the gate of the residence contrary to its claim.

Olaniyan was denied access to the Oluyole Estate residence of the late Governor on Sunday during the 8th day fidau prayers for Abiola Ajimobi.

Though the family, on Saturday in a statement by Bolaji Tunji, who was the spokesman for the late governor, explained the fidau was going to be a private affair, Oyo State Government took out newspaper pages to console with the family on Sunday.

The Deputy Governor was, however, denied entry to the building when he visited to join the prayer. He waited for between 10 and 15 minutes at the gate before leaving. He was told that the key to the gate was with Mrs. Ajimobi, who was attending the fidau prayer held in the compound.

Tunji, in a statement, had denied that Olaniyan was deliberately denied entry because the family was not aware of his planned visit and arrival at the gate.

He added that that on making efforts to facilitate access for him later, they discovered that he had left. The family offered apologies for the incident.

But in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Omolere Omoetan, Olaniyan countered the explanation that the family was unawares he was waiting at the gate.

He said it was another act of rebuffing hands of fellowship being extended to the family of Ajimobi by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Religion / Employees, Students Accuse Rev Sister Of Certificate Forgery by shinystar(m): 11:24am On Aug 08, 2017
The Acting Provost of Imo State College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Orlu, Reverend Sister Grace Agu, has been accused by the college’s employee and students of executive high-handedness and certificate forgery.

The Reverend Sister was also accused of arm-twisting, victimisation, lies and abuse of public service procedures among other ills on campus.

The employees and students disclosed that Agu was plotting instability on the campus by allegedly instigating some students to go against established government procedures.

The employees, who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of being victimised, said the acting provost used some students in her good books to harass the ousted provost, Princess Ngozi Duru, by locking the campus gate against her on a day she (Duru) visited the institution.

But in a swift reaction, Agu maintained that the accusations were false, malicious and sponsored to drag her image into the mud.

She said, “Those who peddled the rumour are enemies of progress. I came on board by the state government’s directive to correct the anomalies bedeviling the institution. “I was not in any way connected with the dismissal of Princess Ngozi Duru as the provost of the institution.

“The peddlers are not happy because they wanted the irregularities for which I was appointed to correct to continue, not knowing that my administration will not be business as usual. I am applying both my wealth of academic experience and catholic convent training to put things aright on campus.

She added, “It is very unfortunate and disheartening that instead of the staff and students to key into my mantra towards the sustenance of the institution, they revert to raising calumnies and invectives against me and my led administration.

Religion / US Presidential Poll: How T.B Joshua, Ayodele Goofed by shinystar(m): 2:42pm On Nov 09, 2016
The just-concluded presidential poll of the United States of America (USA) has delivered damaging blows to the reputation of two of Nigeria’s popular prophets.

Republican candidate, Donald Trump, has been declared president-elect of the world’s most powerful nation, leaving founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet TB Joshua and Primate Babatunde Ayodele of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church utterly disappointed.

The duo had predicted outright victory for Democratic Party candidate, Hillary Clinton, few days to the historic election.

Joshua, who is renowned for predictions on many global events, including sports, specifically stated the next President of the United States will be a woman just 48 hours to the poll.

In a facebook post on TB Joshua Ministries on Sunday, the popular prophet said: “Ten days ago, I saw the new President of America with a narrow win.

“The new President will be facing several challenges over many issues, including: passing bills, attempts to possibly pass a vote of no confidence on the new President.

“The boat of the new President will be rocked.”

Ayodele,Spiritual head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, also predicted that Hilary Clinton will win the American presidential election.

”She has to restrategise because Trump is going to try many things to frustrate her, including blackmail and scandalous incidents.

“She should be careful about her security details because although the election will be slightly won by Hilary Clinton, there are going to be certain issues to be dealt with.

“Hilary Clinton shouldn’t relent on her efforts,” Primate Ayodele said.

Religion / Oyedepo: Criticise Covenant University’s Tuition, Incur God’s Wrath by shinystar(m): 6:24pm On Nov 05, 2016
Those who criticise the tuition fees of Covenant University are risking the wrath of God, its chancellor, Bishop David Oyedepo has warned.

Oyedepo, in a telecast to a pre-Shiloh 2016 Convention gathering of the church monitored via satellite in Jos on Saturday, said the critics were acting in ignorance and risked incurring the wrath of God.

He said one of such critics smitten with a strange plague of chronic mouth odour over the act only received spiritual pardon following his confession and “my intervention before he was restored to dignity”.

Oyedepo said the issue of tuition paid by students of the university was a godly agenda to meet the demands of raising godly children in an environment conducive for learning.

He said such criticisms were products of ignorance as what students pay could not be compared with what obtained elsewhere that lacked facilities.

“The school fees has God’s approval and is in accordance with the quality of facilities provided by the university in meeting the educational needs of the nation,” he said.

He said the church in its pioneering role in pushing the frontiers of education with excellence had concluded plans to establish offshore universities.

The House of Representatives on Thursday said it did not pass a Bill for the implementation of Sharia law in the country.

Its chairman on Media and Public Affairs committee, Abdulrazak Namdas (APC-Adamawa), told news men in Abuja that “It is just a rumour”.

While clarifying that “the House has not passed any Sharia expansion Bill”, Namdas said: “It is just a rumour. You can check the House order paper and confirm”.

He explained that the House had not tabled any bill for deliberation and as such Nigerians should ignore the rumour.

Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Rep. Chukwuka Onyeama (PDP-Anambra), reaffirmed the position of their spokesman.

According to Onyeama, the bill is before the House ad hoc committee on the review of the constitution and for now it remains a working document until it is forwarded for debate.

“When a bill for constitutional amendment is brought to the House, it is forwarded to the committee on the review of the constitution.

“The committee will review it and present it to the House for debate and it is only when it is tabled that we look at it.”

Onyeama said this at the briefing of the South/East caucus of the House in Abuja.

“You see those of us sitting here are not sleeping and you will see us on the floor when the bill comes. So, no Sharia bill has been passed”.

The Bill titled “A Bill to alter the 1999 Constitution to increase the jurisdiction of the Sharia Courts” also known as the “Sharia expansion bill”, was sponsored by Rep. Abdullahi Salame (APC-Sokoto).

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, plans to trace descendants of the foremost missionary and first black bishop of the Anglican Church, late Samuel Ajayi Crowther for reunion.

Bishop Ajayi Crowther (1809 – 1891) was born into a Nigerian Yoruba village of Osogun in modern Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State and captured into slavery during a raid.

The little Ajayi found himself in a Portuguese slave ship in Lagos but a British vessel hunting for slave traffickers intercepted the ship and freed the slaves on board, including Ajayi.

Pastor Kallamu Ali Dikwa, an indigene of Borno State, over the weekend, opened fresh can of worm against the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the controversial N7billion from Jonathan 2015 campaign organization.

He claimed to have been enticed with N1million to keep quiet.

But in a swift reaction President CAN, Dr. Supo Ayokunle, said the allegation was a mere fabrication which any mature person should dismiss.

He added that he has never given any money out to any individual since he assumed office three months ago as CAN President.

Dikwa had in 2015 boldly told the world that former President Goodluck Jonathan- led federal government gave CAN N7billion to campaign for his failed re-election bid through the then CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

Briefing newsmen in Kaduna, Dikwa said he was not out to defame or embarrass anybody but to let the world know that CAN as body of Christ is not expected to be using that office for their material gains.

He said: “If as a religious body, CAN cannot stand for truth, then Nigeria will continue to cripple.

“Let come back and tackle it. Buhari will never succeed in his fight against corruption if religion leaders can’t.”

When asked how he got know and whether he has any valid proof about the alleged N7bn he said: “I don’t have the documents on how the money was handed offer to CAN but I have my confidants who were there then and documents on how it was shared. For instance, TEKAN/ECWA was given N50million.”

Religion / ‘I Was Not Trapped In Ogun Shrine, God Told Me To Stay Quiet' by shinystar(m): 4:32pm On Sep 29, 2016
A Pastor, Prince Adewale Fagbire, who was alleged to have been struck dumb and motionless when he invaded his community shrine at Ketu – Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun state recently said he never lost his consciousness.

God, he said, told him to pull down the shrine and say nothing thereafter.

He also alleged that he was assaulted with charms and other fetish objects by the town’s traditionalists all to no avail.

Fabire, who is a Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Ayetoro area, stated this on Thursday in a chat with reporters in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Fagbire, son of the past Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Taiwo Fagbire, who died in 1981 after 20 years reign, said his late father, used to take him to the shrine.

Narrating his experience at the Office of the chairman, Ogun State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Tunde Akin – Akinsanya, Fagbire said he chose to “remain calm and mute” during the assault and interrogation at the shrine by the traditionalists and some villagers.

The father of two debunked reports that he was motionless and rescued after intervention of the town’s monarch.

According to him:”God told me that I should go to the shrine to bring out those things for the liberation of Ayetoro.

“When I started what God told me, he told me to do three things in the shrine. That is, I should evacuate the items there, step aside and watch the film.

The Former General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Paul Emeka may be on his way to jail as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami has taken over an alleged forgery case against him.

Malami officially took over the case on Tuesday.

Emeka, who had been ex-communicated by the church, was alleged to have forged a Professorial Certificate of University of Derby, Derbyshire, England.

The AGF applied and took over prosecution of the matter, which is pending before an Abuja Upper Area Court at Gudu.

Malami predicated the application he moved through a lawyer in the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs. I.A. Charles Okoli, on section 106 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, 2015 and section 174 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

The trial of the defendant followed a direct criminal complaint that the Incorporated Trustees of the Assemblies of God Nigeria filed against him pursuant to sections 88(1) and 90 of the ACJA.

The charge bordered on forgery and use of forged document.

Specifically, the Church, which said it was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, told the court that the defendant was one of its trustees as at 2012 but was removed on April 30, 2015.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) before the court, “the defendant presented himself to the complainant as a Professor from University of Derby, Derbyshire, England.

“That based on the above, he was made one of the Trustees of the complainant. Sometime in January 2015, the complainant upon investigation found out that the defendant forged the professorial certificate he presented to the complainant.
