Politics / Re: Dokpesi Arrested For Abuja Bomb Blast by shinystar(m): 9:07pm On Oct 04, 2010
This is the statement from IBB's campaign organisation:

"The Director General of the IBB 2011 Presidential Campaign Organization, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi was invited Sunday, 3rd October, 2010 by the State Security Services [SSS] to report to their headquarters by 11am Monday, 4th October, 2010. As a law-abiding citizen, he promptly complied and reported to the State Security Services headquarters by 10am this morning as directed.

“Between 11am and 5pm this evening Monday 4th October, 2010, all telephone calls placed to him were unanswered.

“The Campaign Organization dispatched a high powered delegation comprising four directors of the Campaign Organization and his personal Lawyer to enquire as to his whereabouts.

“The delegation was denied access to High Chief Dr. Raymond Dokpesi and had to return to the Campaign office at about 6.50pm. No reason has been given whatsoever by the State Security Services for his invitation, and detention, neither is his whereabouts known.

“As at the time of writing this statement [7.50pm], High Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been denied access by the SSS to his family, personal physician, lawyers, and the Campaign Organization.

“As we write, his family is worried, and deeply concerned for his safety, health and his well- being. In addition, his fundamental human rights as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are being violated. High Chief Raymond Dokpesi is a well-respected and patriotic Nigerian who has continued to contribute selflessly to the growth, development and stability of the Nigerian nation.

“The IBB 2011 CAMPAIGN ORGANISATION hereby condemns in the strongest terms the detention of its Director General and calls for his immediate release.

“We wish to draw the attention of local and international communities to the growing politics of intolerance, intimidation, coercion, persecution and harassment in spite of the avowed commitment to the rule of law by the present administration.

“We call on the security agencies of the country not to allow themselves to be used as tools to settle political scores particularly on simple intra-party contest.”
Politics / Re: Dokpesi Arrested For Abuja Bomb Blast by shinystar(m): 8:24pm On Oct 04, 2010
Preliminary investigations by SSS revealed that some suspects arrested over the blast sent text messages to Dokpesi. The terse, coded message, SSS sources disclosed, simply said, "the deed is done. What about our balance?"

SSS officials said Dokpesi will be confronted with evidence against him tomorrow to which he is expected to react.

It was also gathered there were exchanged calls and SMS between the suspects and some high-placed Nigerians, which will be made available in the course of the interrogation.

Someone in the Babangida's camp, British intelligence services, revealed was sighted in South Africa last week where Henry Okah, the leader of MEND resides before his eventual arrest.

As for my source, it is authentic. I am a media practitioner and this arrest has been confirmed by IBB's spokesman, Kassim Afegbua. He has promised to issue a statement soonest. Expect it as soon as I get it. Thanks.

KunleOsho,

When did churches become business enterprises that require loans for expansion?
Religion / Should Churches Secure Loans From Banks? by shinystar(m): 2:36am On Oct 18, 2009
There is a growing trend among churches for serviceable loans from commercial banks.

Pastors are divided over the proprietary or otherwise of the facility. Some say it is okay as long as it is for developmental purposes. Others feel if it is God then he should provide.

I have spoken with bank officials and they agree banks prefer to grant loans to churches. One, they hardly default and too the weekly incomes make up for the servicing. As a matter of fact, many commercial banks have enticing offers for churches to take up loan facilities.

What is your take? Let's roll.

Patience4c,

You guys are paid to launder Joshua's battered image and this is so obvious to see in your postings.

Joshua is only capitalising on poverty in the land and the lack of sensitivity of our pastors to it to boost his satanic mission.

He is mission using kingdom principles to win converts.

It is as simple as that.

Eto, I must say sadly, shot himself in the foot. He somehow stalled extending his contract, even when we gave him additional two years. Apparently, he was scheming to leave a free agent next season when he can pocket all the sign-on fees.

That is not how to treat a club that bought you to the limelight. He was a nobody when we bought him from Mallorca after RM overlooked him for years. In Barca, he flourished because he had good supplies from the midfield. He is definitely a good striker but he owes much to us.

In Barca, we hate players who think we can't fly without them. We cannot tolerate superstars who are uncontrollable.

Remember Maradona, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Deco and co. Once you start becoming bigger than the club, we send you packing. A club is always a club and a player is a player.

Let's see how he would fare in Italy but I can bet Ibra will hit it off here instantly.

Celebrities / 7 Great Lessons From Michael Jackson by shinystar(m): 11:00pm On Jul 07, 2009
The world literally stood still early today to honour the greatest entertainer and singer to perform on the stage of life.

But as we all celebrate Jackson's ingenuity and musical excellence, let us not forget the bigger picture: his life. I have spent the last one week surfing the net for every available piece or information about him and came up with seven lessons that we must all learn from his eventful life:

Lesson One: A man is made from childhood: In Jackson, we saw a man that never had a childhood. By 5, he was already an adult, capturing the imagination of all whole world. His father, who I blame for everything wrong in Jackson's life, was more interested in making money out of him rather than training him. He isolated him from other kids and exerted pressure on him to excel. That way, he never allowed him to make mistakes like other kids and grow like them. He even physically abused the poor sensitive lad, who was all out to please him. He was one hell of a bad father and Jackson ignored him for the larger part of his life. So, we must allow ou kids grow up and never destroy their childhood with our expectations. It is important they experience full childhood so that they don't regret it later.

Lesson Two: No one can really please the world: Jackson was a good man reputed to be the largest individual donor to charity. He sang to make others happy; he danced to make other smile but died a wretched, needy man. This please-them-at-cost mentality started with his father. He failed and turned to the world. He should have known people are insatiable. When he died, he died wanting love and failing to have it. The same people he entertained accused him wrongly of molesting children and fleeced him of millions. The lesson is never to spend our lives pleasing others because it is a doomed to fail. Just please God and yourself and do the very best you can do for people. Never expect them to reciprocate because they will always hurt you.

Lesson Three: Success is not applause or adulation but self actualisation: Jackson had it all. Yet, he considered himself never successful. That people adulated him did not make him successful. He was never personally happy. A perfectionist, he spent a lifetime wanting to get everything right yet he died unfulfilled. Rather than wanting applause or adulation we should rather look out for actualisation of our dreams.

Lesson Four: Expect evil for good. You think people will like you once you are good? Think twice. Jesus and Jackson come to mind. Jackson built Neverland Ranch to relieve his children, bought in kids to spend times with yet the same people turned around to accuse him of molesting them sexually just to make millions out of him. I have realised that doing good is not enough to have good people around you. People are always people who are selfish in the long run. So, just do your own good and expect the worst from people. If they did it to Jackson despite his immense popularity and large-heartedness, expect the same treatment too. To me, the real Jackson died after the lawsuits. He was never the same man again. The same people he did so much good to killed him.

Lesson Five: Be happy with yourself. Jackson was the exact opposite. He was not happy with his look, skin and colour. He changed everything, went through deforming surgeries to look better but died unhappy. At the end of the day, it is yourself that matters not people. Just be happy with what you have and focus less on what is lacking.

Lesson Six: Start whatever you want to do early. Jackson started at 5 and was on top for 45 years. If he had started at 40, he would have captured the world for just 10 years. So, whatever you feel you have to unleash, unleash it now. Never wait till tomorrow. Jackson maximised his potentials and held the world spell bound. Please start now and never delay.Talent is good but it is never enough.

Lesson Seven: Never lose control of your life: Stardom is painful. There is always a pain in stardom. Ask Jackson and he would tell you. He lost it when he allowed others to manage his life. Sources said he was a victim of music moguls who planned the massive 50 concerts for him in London. Let us never allow others to acquire control over us.

There are several other lessons but these are the main ones that captured my attention. Kindly add to the list.

You have just stated ten clear indications of a non-conformist Christian. In Spiritual issues, there are no in-betweens. You either believe strong enough in God and stand for it or recoil to your shell in the name of being politically correct.

I am no fundamentalist but I take my commitment to God seriously enough to frown at any suggestion that he is unjust or a promoter of double standard.

You know it is shocking because robber used to hold the church in high esteem. They dared not move close to its vicinity in those days because they knew God would arrest them or they will get converted. I think the church is losing its power and it is a sham
Religion / Help! Robbers Now Target Churches For Operations by shinystar(m): 8:41pm On May 26, 2009
This is authoritative and exclusive: Armed robbers have now turned their attention to churches for operations.

Just last Friday, six armed men attacked a Baptist church in Abesan estate, carting away personal belongings of the pastor and his family. When they left, an handset, belonging to one of them was found. Policemen called to the scene scrolled through the inbox and found a message titled ' churches to operate'. In the list were churches, orthodox and pentecostal, the robbers target for operations.

Three weeks ago, a catholic church in Ikorodu was attacked by robbers, leading to the death of the parish priest.

The above show a worrisome trend of robbers attacking churches, which were hitherto sacred and untouchable.

Why could this be? What are robbers finding in churches? Where is the God of Elijah? Where is the fear of God?

Davidylan,

I concur totally but how come we teach revenge as against love these days? These days, we ask our enemies to die instead of praying for them. We suspect everybody, including our parents, believing everyone is after us. How did we get here?
