There are lots of NGOs i know in Jos, Plateau State. Most are for enthrechment of peace, some for conflict resolution and some for human rights advocacy, women and child rights. Have some directors as friends. you can contact me on peter.owoeye@gmail.com |
Please let them not draw Men of God into this, Many of us remember clearly that T.B Joshua publicly prayed for Atta Mills and the Ghana President also listened to IMF and removed the fuel subsidy in Ghana. Does that make TB a bad pastor? TB said he saw Nigeria not qualifying for Nations Cup and even though many soccer-loving Nigerians though angry about this, will not crucify him for not praying that Nigeria should qualify for Nations Cup. Please, none of these makes any of them 'fake pastors'. Please! |
So sorry I have been away from this page for a long time. I am ready to answer any question on this page and should you want to contact me by email, I can be reached faster on peter.owoeye@gmail.com |
Is there a different AIT channel from the one I'm watching? I only heard that Civil society and Senator Obadara called for her resignation, NOT FG! |
Like I mentioned to RM Fans, we came to play in your stadium and you were jubilating after CR7 scored, Now tell me who has better tactics, PEP or JM? PEP can even diagnose a game and use defenders to score. |
Hehehe, Hope RM fans remember this is their own stadium, playing at home |
I thought IG of police said no more protests allowed in the country, |
There is absolutely nothing wrong with peaceful protests. I thought President GEJ will start performing immediately with the extra funds from reduced subsidy and watch as the crowd in Ojota will thin our Naturally. I also wonder if NLC will be able to lead Non-civil servants out again on street protests. |
I think I heard the FG saying protesting on the street amouns to TREASON. Yet we all protested during OBJ's time and also protested when the Yar'Adua CABAL did not want a handover to GEJ, and now the IG has gone to school and says protests are TREASONABLE offence? |
If the REF was for Barca, he would have flagged Betis first goal as offside. If he was rooting for Barca, he would have given Iniesta the penalty after he came down in Betis box |
I wonder why they don't see anything good in Barca's game. All because the club keeps thrashing their clubs. They don't see the numerous games that Barca gets denied of goals and penalties. Msheew! |
The Ref knew in his heart he made mistake not to have awarded that Iniesta penalty and now made amends. There were three handballs, first by the betis player that was down, next was abidal's ball-to-hand and finally the last betis player who KNOCKED THE BALL with this arm. |
Lock up Messi and sanchez gets good passes from Xavi to score and score! |
Ojoro even when yellow cards are been issued to Barca Players?when someone did not dive and yet given yellow card instead of a penalty kick? Ojoro my foot! |
@Karl Marx, I'm sure you've been hearing or reading about Per Capital Income or maybe u've seen GDP per Capital( income index divided per population). Calculating that alone per state/region answers all the questions you mentioned. Another twist to it is this, most of the consumer goods(more than 95% aside agric products) that are used up in your so-called 'poor people' states are from Lagos. You can as well say that all the bank branches in those states should close shop because they are all loss-bearing and 'subsidised' from the huge income made from Lagos state. Researches shown across all Nigerian banks show that 80% of their total bank deposits and liabilities generated are from Lagos only, the other 20% comes from other states and FCT. These regional economic theories will not hold water, please and other states are not subsidising Lagos, please. |
SLS statements are always cautious. But tell me Sanusi fights or will fight corrption and I will just sneeze. He is the CBN governor regulating banks and yet 1.7trn naira(more than subsidies) were laundered via our banks past 12 months. He doesn't like corruption but he appointed his friends to manage some rescued banks and they bought new bullet-prood jeeps and still milked those banks dry. For me, he cried wolf while there was none exeptional in the banking industry different from other parts of the world. He is yet to dispute the fact that Bukola Saraki is his CBN job provider and keeps protecting his benefactor's prior misbehaviour in SGBN and Intercontinental bank.Yes, call him a brillant orator, he also knows his Onions, but clearly not a solution. He needs to do his boss bidding now because AIG is already eyeing his seat when his first tenure expires soon. |
Hehehe, some posters here are defining subsidy as subsidising fuel for the SUV owners in Lagos to the detriment of the poor carless users in Places Like Jigawa. Who says that's the subsidy we are talking about?Just cannot make sense, please! Petrol usage is for both cars and generators, and Nigerians feel the brunt more for their generator usage(since no cheaper way to generate their own light). Electricity is even more stable in Lagos than other states in Nigeria. And I thought the Rich in lagos use big generators powered by Diesel, not petrol. While the villager in Jigawa, Borno, Kogi keeps using petrol for his I-pass-my neighbour generator. Please don't bring sentiments in saying Lagos subsidises the rich. Please the subsidies go to the marketers, and you can only attack those that connive with top govt officials such as Minister of Petroleum, GMD NNPC to get paid for imaginary quantities they didn't import. Of course the SURE document already shows how much each state govt will get when subsidies get removed. Aside oil producing states like Bayelsa, I don't see any of those states having much excess after paying salaries and taking care of their overbloated recurrent expenditures |
U will be wasting your time listing govt announced list of CABAL members. Most of those are legit business owners. Oando is owned by young entrepreneurs that were mates in UNIBEN and bulk of their start-up capital is from Oceanic bank courtesy of their friend Oboden Ibru whose initial shareholding was 40%. Don't you observe most Oando petrol stations nationwide always have fuel? You will see real CABAL members that when you even hear their names you will wonder where they are. Most of them were even forced to add their prices by 24naira per litre to raise revenue for PDP Presidential campaigns. Msheew, CABAL my foot when they wine and dine till date with GEJ |
Who said Sanusi sanitised the banking sector? Please wait till you have another CBN governor who will open his cans of worms. Please don't use the awards he gathered to rate him. I'm sure the people he criticised(Soludo, Akingbola and Ibru) all had awards while in office from same organisations. For me, sanusi cried wolf where there was none and was highly selective in his banking reforms. Who said Elumelu/UBA, Ovia/zenith all had clean states? And how come he appointed managers for the rescued banks and his self-appointed managers were also living large and most had to be replaced and not punished for not meeting their expected targets? Without digressing from the issue at hand, please there is no index to show that sanusi's performance is overwhelming good that anything he says will always be right. Please that is not a good pointer to why he should be given benefit of doubt on supporting removal of fuel subsidy. Under him, the amount laundered by politicians through the banks has increased. Under him, lending to real sector dried up. Under him, his mentor Olusola Saraki's huge bad loans were surreptitously written off. Under him, foreign reserves are getting depleted. It is one thing to be an Intelligent Orator, it is another to be above board and pursue policies not detrimental to the masses |
Hehehe, Sanusi and Ngozi are fighting corruption? Sanusi seats above all Nigerian banks where almost 2trillion Naira is laundered via banks abroad every year. Okonjo-iweala has been Minister of Finance twice and even my little girl knows Customs Service which is under her purview is the highest point of corruption in Naija. |
They are still drinking champagne, and advising us to be drinking Zobo |
♓♏♏♏♏♏, A poster here says the President cannot solve problem caused by over 40years failure by past Government? Is that not what we hear from every 'new' president? Also, by their fruits we shall know them. Since he came to power, have we not seen some excesses increasing?or where have they increased? Excess Crude Oil funds almost wiped out, Foreign Reserves at all-time low. Fuel subsidies have balooned from 600billion naira to 1.3trn naira? Money laundering has now reached 1.7trn naira in the past 12months. President acquiring new plan for 23b when existing ones still functional and First Lady recently got her office building ready and furnished for 5billion naira, are those signs that things are about to change for Good so we relax and wait for Manna? |
Have you ever heard Jonathan criticise the NASS jumbo pay? At least Obsanjo even called them Thieves in Public. Have we witnesses Jonathan fighting corruption or looking for way to cut his own excessive luxury or those of his fat cat political contractors?but its easy for him to say the masses should suffer a little while they continue to enjoy in comfort of more funds for wastes? |
Anytime Aunty Ngozi speaks, just remember most of us think she's an ECONOMIST. No, she's not. She's an Urban and Regional Planner who happens to work with world bank and move up the ladder. She cannot handle Finance or Federal Reserve in USA. She only knows much about Breton-Wood economic policies and she will always turn mugu as she knows no Jack about Nigeria's Behavioural Economics and how much it deviates from their suggested economic policies. |
Wait till you hear Government reel out economic losses each day the strike continues then you know it was huge success. Banks, airlines, ports all shut down and yet not a success?all courts closed with NBA joining the strike? Most cities had economic activities shut down(even those cities that didn't witness protest like Port Harcourt, Jos, Enugu, Yenagoa) still couldn't witness economic activities as all were grounded. Billions of Naira losses each day and yet you say its failure? How much Crude Oil do we make per day in Naija and their economic worth on daily basis? How much customs collect as revenue for FG on daily basis? |
Did I read that Ngozi is THE BOMB blowing up Nigeria? She never won my heart. Under OBJ, she reeled out palliative measures that evaporated into thin air and yet she couldn't stop corruption. She is an Urban and Regional Geography Practioner who has experience in World Bank economic matters and should not surprise you she doesn't have full grasp of Nigerian Economic system considering our deviating behavioural economics. We have higher corruption figures amongst our political class that could be stopped and recoup bigger savings than outright removal of subsidies-but they all are not bold to stop the affluent fat cat politicians. Under Sanusi's watchful eyes and so-called anti-corruption crusader, average of 1.7trn naira evaporates through our banks annually in form of money laundering. They can't curb the politicians' excessive luxuries and graft, but can box the poor masses into a tight corner. |
She seems not to know Nigeria again! The key union in the Transport Sector is NURTW, and they are heavily involved in the strike. Which union did they dialogue with? Is inflation in Nigeria tied to only one sector-Transportation?That's myopic! Is it those long-journey diesel buses that do intra-city transport?is it those buses that they use in her village to transport agric products from farms to towns/neighbourhood cities?Did she forget she announced the release of 5000 buses during Obasanjo's time after price hike. Did transport costs come down then? The cost of running our generators for house use and small business use has gone up, how do we make money to be able to cope?by immediately increasing the price of whatever goods we sell or service we are offering. And there goes the multiplier effect in simple economic illustration. |
The motion is a good development. If for nothing, it goes on to cement the fact that Majority of Nigerians want the subsidy removal suspended! Also, if GEJ feels Nigerians need to lead the fight against the huge bills by the Legislators and also presidency's recurrent expenditure(not the small executive salary please), He should know Nigerians are highly motivated by Occupy Nigeria and can also fight NASS to a standstil on their take home pay. Pls note that Nigerians will fight not only NASS huge bills, but also the Presidency's(cost of foreign trips, budget for renovations, feeding, entertainment etc)! |
Can we compare in real dollar terms the value of fuel imports from UK to Nigeria, with the amount UK spends on oil for its citizens? In simple economic illustrations, the western world needs to cut down costs to fight its economic woes. Cost of Energy is a major cost. By wooing sub-sahara Africa to remove subsidies, we here will use less of refined oil products, reducing aggregate demand for crude oil globally leading to crash in global crude oil prices. For those that have time to read to get properly informed, please read The Economic Hit Man. |
@Chikis, Clearly you don't even know what you are saying. You seem to be the one that needs days of burrying your head in journals, researches and articles on ground. Who is even talking about 'privatisation' when it relates to the Nigerian downstream sector in these days??and yet you mentioned using a search engine which you didn't use yourself?? Abegi!! This goes to show why you support the removal of subsidy without any fact or knowledge about the Industry aside that you hear that it is only a few that enjoy the benefits of subsidies. Do you know since when the industry started witnessing deregulation?I guess you think it is just starting. What are you privatising in the present-day Nigerian downstream oil sector? As an illustration, can you spot the difference between 'privatisation of Nitel' and 'deregulation of the Nigerian telecom sector'? I am sure you are one of those likening the deregulation of a service-oriented telecom sector with the deregulation of a commodity-dependent oil sector. |
Okonjo Iweala and Sanusi referred to as our Two Economic dons??My foot!! Please mention Prof Aluko, Prof Soyode, Prof Aboyade etc. Both Okonjo and Sanusi have policy summersaults in recent times. Was it not Ngozi that announced Palliatives after Fuel price increases in 2005 and yet we can't see where their so-called palliatives are since then! |
