AmuDimpka: That is what I have been telling these guys here... I have driven benz for years now .. it is just madness to use premium oil on a car that is over 10yrs old or over 100,000 kilometers... It's just doesn't make sense
If the engine is new then you can use such oil it would reduce the wear and year but not when you buy a tokunbo 2006 benz that you don't know the oil the previous owner used or even ha w access to know the level of depreciation and wear that has happened. You go dey shout Mobil 1 up and down
Abeg those that are hawking Mobil 1 here make una no vex... Have to tell them the truth You have said nothing but the truth...you have done ur own part for the good of humanity. |

How can someone waste money on a 0wxx and 5wxx oils in Nigeria when the oils is clearly made for vehicles in winter climates. The W in oil grading stands for winter. Meaning 0wxx will flow more in cold temperatures than a 5wxx oil. We don't have a winter in Nigeria...u don't need to waste that money. Our concern here should be with the number that's after the W since this number indicate how d oil behaves at high temperatures. A 5w30 oil will thin out, become light more in high temperatures than a 5w40 oil. Why is this so difficult to understand. Local man is tired walahi. Attached is screenshot of Mobil website They recommend 0w40 and 5w50 for Mercedes Benz cars...

oluwaseunla: Not all cars recommend premium unleaded fuel. For those that do, there are consequences of not using it. I know because I have a Nissan that recommends minimum of 91 RON, of course it is not available here. Guess what, my knock sensor get bad within 3-4 months of use. My point is there are consequences for not following manufacturer's recommendations, no matter how little. Those little consequences can now snowball into major issues in the long run.
All engines have wear and tear from use, yes. But use of the right fluids is going to greatly reduce that wear and tear, for example, using coolant instead of water slows down the spread of corrosion in your cooling system.
There are cars that are on 5W-30, and are already over 300,000km, no oil shorts. That our 99 Avensis comes to mind. Stop wallowing in ignorance.
I'm not convincing you to use the right fluids, but stop selling falsehood as facts. Not falsehood brother but common sense. When u get to that point in life where u realize that somethings will never be in ur control... that's when u start to be mature. Following the manufacturers recommendations (fully)is out our control we must use our heads to keep the cars running. It doesn't make any sense to use expensive probably fake oil on a vehicle that is more than 10yrs old when u know that u can't follow all d manufacturers recommendations. It is hypocrisy when u follow recommended oil and not follow (required) fuel type Using d wrong type of fuel for any car will do more harm to the vehicle than non recommended lubricants. The primary purpose of engine oils is to lubricate moving parts in a vehicle...most oils will do this. Any oil u use to service ur vehicle..u will still need another car in the future. Even the manufacturers are not perfect....this is why u have recalls. Whatever works for u follow it, don't say u r right and I am wrong. |

rationalmind: If the manufacturer say make I use palm oil, I use palm oil. If the engine like make get mileage of 1 billion.
I use full synthetic oil that can last 5k miles. My maintenance minder comes up between 3 and 4k miles. The manufacturer says whichever oil I use, the maintenance minder should be followed. So when my minder tells me service is due now, I service.
Whatever the manufacturer says, I do. I follow them religiously like a blind man
If you know better than your own manufacturer, good for you But ur manufacturer also said u should use premium unleaded fuel Maybe u r not following blindly on that one cos it's boldly stated premium unleaded fuel (Required) The truth remains that doesn't matter if u use palm oil or jet engine oil as lubricants..ur car will still give in to wear n tear and depreciate like my brother AmuDimpka will say. Just like someone said: it's your car,u decide what you do with it. But I have a problem with people who think they know it all and must tell others the "right" ways to use their cars. |

sacramento1212: Oga, you own and maintain your car. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If your method works best for you, go ahead and allow those without their right senses continue to stick to 0w40. If their engine gets bad you won't fix it for them and if yours get bad, we won't fix it for you. Gbam |

AmuDimpka: No! I have driven a C class and the car is over 13 yrs old now and the engine is still running , c class elegance and I use mobile 2, now I also have an ML SUV, I still use Mobil 2...there is no where it's written mobile one...ML IS A 12 PLUG CAR AND A heavy engine...you can't use light oil which is Mobil 1 for it .. it's simple physics naaaa
Not all Benz recommend that and also if the car is 2005 model or thereabouts it is mobile 2 because it's a bit heavier and the engine a bit old... Mobil 1 is for newer cars and engine...you can't be driving a2005 - 2010 car and be using mobile 1 , do you understand what is viscosity...these mechanics wouldn't tell you that
As the car gets older the friction gets higher and the engine need a thicker oil with higher viscosity...it's simple physics
But you can argue that if you want....that's why you say mobile one dries up...it is because it is designed for newer engine and it's lighter !
Well, keep wasting money on mobile 1 cor 2005 - 08 models Don't mind them with their fake Mobil 1 oil that dries up and kill ur engine. Anytime u say anything about oil they will start telling u that Benz recommends Mobil 1 as if ur car will pack up if you don't use Mobil 1. You can't even get the genuine Mobil 1. I always ask them if they also use premium unleaded fuel as recommended by Benz. I use the same oil as u do in my C320...car is over 8 years, engine still dey bring out water for exhaust. |

eagle13: a very wonderful job here, pls I'm new here I just purchased a used2005 Benz c230k through a friend n it developed a brain box issue.n I can't find a match for d faulty one.can anyone help me out how to get this fixed. I was told water got inside d brain box while washing d engine, that was d actual cause of d damage. and d rewire has been trying to get a replacement, all to no avail. Pls help a brother. Brain box is available every where na brother. You don't need to look for it, I hope ur "rewire" knows what he's doing? He will not get the brain box as a single unit that match ur car without coding, it's almost impossible. What you need to do is either you get another C230 brain box and program it to work with your remote key or get a complete package that will include. 1. Brain box 2.remote key 3.sucker. 4. Hammer This is the only way I know u can go about this Pls note: Don't go and be calling ECU or speak big grammar for market pls, use the names as I've started them. |

If you don't like the embarrassment, shop else where
The truth is that, women don't like seeing men in soup markets
It's assumed that you are a stupid and stingy man and your wife will rather prefer you shop than giving her the money because even the money given to her isn't even enough for a pot if stew so she prefers you take your stingyness to the market
Such men are never caring Did u even read the post. |
