Using China as an example, China is not am oil producing country, they obtain their oil products from countries like Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran and so on, As a living witness, I live in one of the expensive cities. My monthly bill never exceeded 70yuan convert to naira = 1550 naira despite the fact i used energy consuming appliance especially in extreme winter and in summer and I still enjoy 24 hours electricity. This is a country that import 85% of her resources from other nations, SOMETHING is really going wrong in Nigeria, generating electricity shouldn't be a problem, some politicians just deliberately pend the nations development because of their greed. |
Haha,, I am loving this, @ Violent |
Well , i think there is nothing wrong with the president travelling with 2 planes. incase a situation like this occur the other one will be for back up. I guess the first lady's plane left before that of the president developed the fault . For your reference we all heard what happen to the POLISH PRESIDENT, HIS FAMILY AND ALL CABINET MEMBERS in that terrible crash in Russia. . May be trying to avoid same mistake, Just my thought. |

what does IBM AND IBB stands for, Any guess? |
I am sure Nigeria have a functioning embassy in south African to fight for that medical student . I can't trust the other victims except there are valid proves to show they are living legally in that country. The world is tired of Nigerians, KILODEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, Nigerians are deported from CHINA everyday, What is wrong? if they have no useful reason to travel they should stay home instead of becoming nuisance everywhere damaging the good name of the hardworking Nigerians out there. |
I saw the video news on a chinese website today, It's amazing how the news is spreading , here is the link. http://xunlei.smgbb.cn/video/?vid=41763&ch=news |
This only reports drug trafficking in Nigeria, what of the various drug bursts in other countries of the world. No day will pass without seeing a Nigerian arrested of drug trafficking, Nigerians in this business are really damaging our reputation every where in the world. Many have to deny their country of origin except on special cases where you have to. How do we rebrand Nigeria? |
Please guys, how to watch the super falcons game online?, I am missing the show seriously, Thanks. |
Yes, Nigerian citizen by heritage if born outside Nigeria and A pure citizen of which ever country you were born. Dual citizen is possible unlike some countries that won't allow dual citizenship for their citizen. for instance.(China will not admit the dual nationality of a Chinese citizen. China Nationality Law declares that as soon as a Chinese takes a foreign citizenship, he will automatically lose his Chinese citizenship , Many other coutries in Africa and Asia too. |
Nigeria will get there one day , I am very sure, God help us. This is just another baffling news about the Muslim community in Nigeria , I felt sad when i saw this new and really I don't know when Nigeria will be healed of this mess . Nigerian sect leader praises al Qaeda, warns U.S LAGOS (Reuters) – A former leader of a Nigerian Islamic sect behind an uprising last year which killed hundreds of people has issued a statement expressing solidarity with al Qaeda and threatening the United States. Abubakar Shekau, a former deputy leader of the Boko Haram sect who was thought to have been killed by police in last year's fighting, offered condolences for the deaths of al Qaeda commanders in Iraq in the statement on a jihadist website. "Do not think jihad is over. Rather jihad has just begun. O America, die with your fury," the statement said, according to a translation published by the U.S.-based SITE Intelligence Group. SITE said the statement was addressed to al Qaeda affiliated groups in Algeria, Somalia and Yemen, as well as Iraq. A five-day uprising by Boko Haram around the northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri a year ago killed close to 800 people, as security forces fought days of gun battles to end rioting by sect members. Boko Haram is one of a number of militant movements in northern Nigeria which wants sharia (Islamic law) to be imposed more widely in Africa's most populous nation. Nigeria, a vast nation of more than 140 million people and more than 200 ethnic groups, is roughly equally divided between Christians and Muslims. Boko Haram's views are not espoused by the majority of Nigeria's Muslim population, the largest in sub-Saharan Africa, and there has been little published evidence of well-established links between Nigerian militants and al Qaeda. West African Islam is overwhelmingly moderate but underlying issues of poverty, unemployment and a lack of education means sect leaders have been able to gain a cult-like following in some parts of the region. A Nigerian man, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, stands accused of trying to blow up a U.S. commercial airliner on Christmas Day last year with a bomb hidden in his underwear. He has said he was trained by militants in Yemen affiliated with al Qaeda. But Abdulmutallab was educated in London and the Middle East and is not believed to have been radicalized in Nigeria. http://www.theloop21.com/news/do-the-chinese-have-problem-with-blacks, This is a link to an interview , Stanley Rosen Political science professor, director of the East Asian Studies Center University of Southern California BG: Do you think Americans traveling to China will have problems with discrimination? Rosen: I don’t think that they’ll be discriminated against because they’re from the U.S. The Chinese government has spent a lot of time trying to educate people in China, and Beijing particularly because of the Olympics, to be courteous and civil. And I think that’s what most people will certainly be. What about Africans or African-Americans specifically? I’ve read that they have been a target for discrimination in Beijing because a lot of the drug dealers there are from Nigeria. In certain districts, for example, the Salitun district in Beijing is one of the major nightlife areas for foreigners. In that district, a number of bar owners have said that police have come by and made them sign something agreeing not to allow blacks into the bars during the Olympics. It relates to the Nigerian drug dealers, (and) not just Nigerians but Mongolian women because the Chinese think that a lot of prostitutes come from Mongolia. They’re trying to target specific groups that they think will give China a bad name. They can’t target everybody, so they go after specific groups. Now, of course, the Chinese government is denying that they’re doing that, but it’s certainly the case that there have been a lot of hassles for Africans. |
I am not surprised and I will never be, this has been going on for long and our government is so weak and useless, It happens here in China everyday too, many Nigerians were caught smuggling, trafficking, dealing in drugs. mostly IGBO guys just few YORUBAS were among, some have been executed, some still underground serving their jail terms. Nigerians are known to be hooligans ,trouble makers, beating people unnecessarily, cheating people, frauding, scamming, doing illegal business , they don't even care who is watching ,same thing happened in Guangzhou 2009 when Nigerians(first foreign nationals to ever riot heavily in China in that respect) rioted because of an asault on an IGBO guy who jumped from 3 storey building to beat immigration. This happens everyday We that are legal are finding it so difficult to convince the chinese people that not all Nigerians are bad. On mentioning you are a Nigerian, everyone runs away from you. see this latest report though the report was very careful to mention particular country but we all know which countries are into these dirty businesses Jun 29, 2010 eChinacities.com The Beijing High People's Court recently published a report on drug-related crimes from 2007 to 2009. The report revealed that nightclubs and entertainment centers were drug dealers’ favorite places to do business for. During that time, Beijing courts presided over 3,753 cases drug-related cases, and prosecuted a total of 4,635 people. The statistics in the report also showed that foreign offenders involved in drug trafficking crimes are also on the rise in the city. In most processed cases, the amount of drugs seized is over 1 kg. The largest case of drug trafficking involved the transport of 8 kg of methamphetamine. The majority of drugs smuggled into the country were either heroin or methamphetamine. Cases involving foreigners in smuggling the drugs to China showed that these are global and organized operations. Drug kingpins control the business but are rarely involved with transport and dealing of the drugs themselves. They use the lure of great profits to find mules outside of their organization. The drug mules are usually those from developing countries in Africa and Central Asia, and are poorly educated. The percentage of foreign offenders prosecuted for drug trafficking that were women rose from 9% to 30% during the two year period. The smuggled drugs are sold in nightclubs and entertainment centers popular with expat communities, providing a consistent customer base that fuels the illegal trade. My people, This is the latest development , is this deal with the chinese ideal? ABUJA (AFP) – Nigeria and a Chinese state firm have signed a 23-billion-dollar deal to build three refineries and a petrochemical complex in Nigeria, a world's major oil exporter, an official statement said Friday. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited (CSCEC) sealed the deal Thursday. The two will jointly seek the financing and credits from the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation and a consortium of Chinese banks for the projects. "NNPC aims to accelerate the construction of new refineries in Nigeria to stem the flood of imported refined products into the country, currently estimated at 10 billion dollars," an NNPC statement said. At the same time, CSCEC wants to "expand its presence on the African continent and establish its footprint firmly in the Nigerian oil and gas landscape," the statement said. The refineries are expected to add some 750,000 barrels per day capacity in Nigeria and position NNPC in the international trading of refined petroleum products, it said. Nigeria's four refineries -- with a total capacity of 445,000 barrels per day -- are performing less than 30 percent of their installed capacity, according to official figures. Corruption and a lack of proper maintenance of the refineries are often cited as reasons for their underperformance. Nigeria, Africa's leading oil producer, has for more than a decade been importing refined petroleum products from abroad to meet local demands. The construction of the new refineries "will reinforce the ongoing oil and gas reforms in Nigeria", as envisaged in the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), which has been before the Nigerian parliament for almost a year and imminent deregulation of the downstream sector the country's oil industry, the NNPC statement said. The country's new president, Goodluck Jonathan, has promised to pursue the government's policy to reform the oil sector to make it profitable. His nascent administration recently sacked some key officials in the oil industry and redeployed some others as part of the promised reform. |

@ekoree , I won't disagree with you , I read it too that they offer to replace it for free , but the question is 'Have they'? may be working on it . I hope they will stand by their words. And when it comes to news about China , I can tell though sometimes the media do go beyond their limit but Chinese government itself is a warehouse of propaganda, they manipulate information to their own advantage and to the disadvantage of their rival especially when it comes to the matter of losing face.state matter and any involving challenging their authority. But I will advise Nigerian government to supervise them seriously. i am not against their operation and i know they can make it happen , just the 'TRUST' is my fear. |
I have personally travelled through Chinese subways and I wish you could all see how this railroads and trains were wonderfully constructed. I won't doubt their efficiency but what I will worry about it if LAGOS GOVERNMENT can really monitor them, if no proper monitoring then we may have a problem, all the materials to be used should be properly checked. We know China itself is a fake country from the top (Government) Our satelite that disappeared last time was never recovered and nothing was done, waste of money, time and resources. I guess everyone involved took their shares and buried the whole news, Another thing to worry about is maintenance. Nigeria as a whole lacks this part of development. God helps. The new face of Nigeria. |
ABUJA (Reuters) – Nigeria's former military leader Ibrahim Babangida is planning a political comeback by running for president nearly 25 years after he first came to power in a bloodless coup, his spokesman said on Monday. Babangida, 68, seized power in the OPEC member state in August 1985 and went on to rule Africa's most populous nation for nearly eight years. He was forced to step down in 1993 after he canceled an election that was generally regarded as fair. "Yes, General Babangida has decided to contest for the presidency under the (People's Democratic Party) in the 2011 presidential election," spokesman Kassim Afeagbu told Reuters. "He is only waiting for the party timetable before he will formally declare." He is the first major politician to publicly announce his intention to run, and he will campaign for a smaller federal government focused mainly on defense, foreign policy and the economy, leaving the rest to the states and local councils. The ruling PDP party is expected to hold primaries in the next few months to choose their presidential candidate for the general election, which must be held by April 2011. The race for president is expected to be wide open since many believe ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua will not seek re-election. Acting President Goodluck Jonathan has assumed executive powers in the absence of Yar'Adua, who remains too sick to govern and has been out of the public eye since November. Though 17 years have elapsed, Babangida's reputation has not fully recovered since he annulled the poll, in a move that paved the way for another army dictator Sani Abacha to take over. AGE OLD PROBLEM Analysts say voters will also be concerned about his age, reluctant to vote for another leader who may not survive a full four-year term. "After his June 1993 election problems. He will have considerable challenges in terms of his credibility," said Bismark Rewane, head of Lagos-based Head of Financial Derivatives. "He will also have a generational problems at his age. You need someone with a lot of vigor and energy to deal with Nigeria's huge problems." Rewane said Babangida would be good for business as he initiated crucial economic reforms during his administration. "There's so much bureaucracy in government. It makes government too expensive," Afeagbu said. "He wants to run a slim government that will be less bureaucratic and less expensive at the federal level. (Reporting by Felix Onuah; Writing by Randy Fabi; Editing by Giles Elgood and Simon Cameron-Moore)[ I pray this man called IBB will not succeed in his plan. |
