TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by showstopa: 2:39pm On May 31, 2017
ekpotek:
After filling and submitting the online form at vias4UK. The next step is to pay for visa and associated fees online depending on which TLS centre you choose to submit. Each application form have a reference number. Use this reference number after creating an account on the TLS website/centre selected for submission to book appointment. It is on TLS website that you can book appointment to submit your documents and not on visa4UK site. I hope this clarification helps.

It is onus on the applicant to submit the necessary documentation to support their visa application. The home office is not in the habit of waivers or giving any benefit of doubt for absence of documents for visit visas. It's important that applicants do not give the ECO any reason to refusal their application based on lack of document.
Thanks Ekpotek, That is very clear to me now. Cheers Mate

Yes she will be given an appointment date for biometric and supporting documents submission .

Verbal agreement is not good enough she needs a written permission from her employer to travel for that long
Thank you for your response Justwise. What I want to know is, who gives the appointment, visa4UK site or tls. I would like to know what the procedure is. Can she select a date on the site that is suitable for her?

Also, not that you can say what is on their mind, what business is it of BHC or TLS whether she has a written or oral permission. I was only wondering if they considered such but I suppose that i sup to them. Thanks for your response
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by showstopa: 4:42pm On May 30, 2017
Hello all,
I have two questions. Seems like thing shave changed since the last time I applied for a visa for my mum. Before I filled her form and sent it to her and she turned up at the British High commission in Abuja but seems like they have an intermediary company now. I am filling out her form on visa4UK site, do they require an appointment in Abuja with the new TFL site. It's a confusing website on it sown as it says to only create a profile after finishing so I am not sure if she can just turn up or if she requires an appointment. Has anyone applied for a visitor visa recently.

Secondly my Mum will be coming over for a month to help me as I am having a baby. Do you suppose the visa folks would be wondering ,since her application says teacher, how come she is going away for a month, who would teach her kids or if that is not their business. She has a verbal agreement with her school to stay and come back in October and obviously term time starts mid September or am I overthinking this. I am a bit of an overthinker. sorry y'all.

I want o apply for a 5 year visa fo rher so she doesnt have to travel to Abuja everytime she needs to apply. She has been to the UK 3X and had previously had a 6 month visa and a 2 year visa. She has been working with the Feral Government since the 80's.

Thanks in advance

Hello All,
I am just about to apply for a visa for my Mum. She just renewed her passport and I was just about to create an application for a 5 year visitor visa and just wondered if it's possible to have a 5 year visa on a 5 year passport. Passport expires in April 2022 and a 5 year visa applied for in July would be valid to July 2022. Anybody have such an experience? Do you know if this is possible?

Thank You and Regards

Avoid that by all means.

This is risky and may land your husband in jail because Polygamous marriage is illegal in the UK
Sorry Justwise but this is incorrect information. So long as she is not married to the philandering guy there is no polygamy here. Last time I checked, adultery is not a crime at least not in the UK.

FamilyRe: Pls Help, My Mum Is Suffering From Megalomania And Am Begining To Hate Her. by showstopa: 2:22pm On Feb 20, 2017
Most of you on this page are sounding idiotic.
He or she never insulted his/her Mum. They came here with a problem and most of you are speaking out of your arses like you are a bad son, you are lazy, you are this. You all probably sound like this because you intend to be a pest to your kids when you are older. Its a stupid culture.
OP,You need to see if your Mum, is not senile, yes senility comes with old age but maybe she is aging faster, . If she is not senile then she is just being a greedy parasitic human being like a good number of Nigerians are. You choose to have children so it is your responsibility to provide for them until they become independent then they can fend for themselves. What you owe your parents is to take care of them when they are old and feeble, making sure they are well taken care of which it sound sliek you and your siblings are doing. It is not your fault that your mum is a greedy old woman trying to keep up with the times.
My suggestion...after you find out that her actions are not out of senility, make sure your parent's NEEDs are well taking care off. Notice I said need not want. Once in a while you indulge their excesses and buy a nice gift that is a want but let her understand that it is not an everyday thing.

If most of you commentators are sensible , you should know that it is not normal that a person would want to kill themselves because of their parent. There is something very wrong. His mum is a manipulator who uses her children for her benefit. Stop being sentimental here. If your Mum's greedy, attitude continues, keep her at arms length. NO need having two crazy people at home. I am sure people will tell you, ah she may curse you etc. That is bullshit. Only you can curse yourself. Provided you obeyed all God's principles, her curses will bounce of your skin like water on a ducks back....( I am assuming you are a Christian and believes in the Bible)

Good luck.....And apply wisdom to your actions. Don't go the African extreme way of trying to kiil yourself and living a miserable life to make your Mum happy and don't go the Oyibo people's extreme of totally cutting off your parents, never seeing or talking to them. Shalom

@emeriem
I do not like to see people stressed out especially pregnant women. This US waka is not an easy something. You sound like a strong woman however compromises need to be made. Sometimes when we make estimates, that's all it usually is. I would normally say if you expect something to be 200 dollars normally, add jara and estimate 220 or 250. Going with the lower end of your budget is not a wise idea. You don't want to be stuck in a strange country with a toddler and a baby and cash strapped. My advise would be, if going with your daughter, carry plenty cash and if you want to manage or be frugal then you should consider leaving your toddler behind. If I remember correctly, your husband is unemployed. Would he not be able to take care of her? Sorry I don't hv any contributions about airprice. On a lighter note, as a student studying overseas many years ago, I was looking for cheap return ticket to Naija. I found one, really cheap walahi. It was UK-Germany-Dubai-Lagos bwahahaha not exaggerating, it was like almost 3 days to get to Naija. You know the rest of the story lol. BUt it was cheap shaaaaaa

Wow too harsh and negative for someone in her place...
Cervical cerclage? Hmmmm

Harsh ke?
One or two lives may be at stake here and you want to be walking on eggshells. As for the cerclage I mentioned that because my besties's bestie lost a baby due to cervical incompetence. I don't know how far gone Ms Apple19 is, was why I suggested that ,but hey I ain't a doctor. I know some people do their American journey at 25weeks, some much later. So if she falls into the earlier category, that would be an option I guess. But back to the issue at hand, she needs to see a doctor and do the needful. People are on this board to assist/help some to detract, however part of that includes giving people a firm shake to see reason and back to their senses when the need arise. This is one.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by showstopa: 1:38pm On Jan 13, 2016
@all, thanks for this advice. My options are

1- Will just book my hotel in Houston, call doctor to schedule appointment, and then declare Houston as my final destination. but then I can tell them I'll be staying to do some shopping in Dallas before my appointments.
2. Get a scanned correspondence from Dallas and present it at the POE and pray they won't raise an eyebrow.
CUZ.....

I went for ante-natal this morning to complain about the mucoid discharge stuff and hardened stomach (but no PAIN, and the thick mucoid stuff is not stained AT ALL!!) So the Doctor checked me and said am 2cm dilated shocked in a nutshell, that my enemy is having preterm labour.!! cry hence, sent me to the labour ward for admission straight.
Getting to the labour ward, I rejected the admission and left. Hubby and I entered commission don't just know what to do. cry
Now since that VE, I've been having some funny stomach ache, and going to toilet like every 10minutes.

Pls mamas, what is my faith?? I know say na the Devil for my village dey work, but I've sent the host of heaven to stop every contractions and premature labour. My ticket is scheduled for next Tuesday, hubby wants to reschedule it to this Friday. But I hope I'll be safe in the flight...pls help O.

On another note, Hubby's visa was approved today, but not in a good mood to type Visa Interview now. PLEASE I NEED HELP O.

@apple19
My very first post on this board.
You do know some people have lost both their babies and lives from complications of pre-term labour. Is the thrill of an American dream really worth that/? Or do you want to endanger the lives of your fellow passengers by having an emergency landing if you go into labour. I know everyone says they are looking out for the betterment of their kids(some is BS ,but story for another day) but is that worth dying in the process? I don't remember seeing how old your baby is but you should consider having a cervical cyclage or so done. YIf you really care about your baby, then you should do what is best for his/er life and the first step is to let him/her live. Cos if you have pre term labor on a plaane, forget it already.
My 2 pence.

This is not funny how do I get back the £6000 deposited to RGU for a masters degree what are the procedures please,I have just noticed they dropped 10 places in the uk rankings I feel duped. embarassed)

Lol, Pweedy B I hope you are joking?

where is your first degree from again, Imperial, Cambridge or Oxford. There are 2 main bodies that rank UK Universities if I can call them that. Times University and Guardian. If you go on to the Guardian, that same RGU goes up the rank by 4. You cannot go by those rankings . That is not to say you should go and attend the bottom 3 Universities on the tables, however if you are aiming for only the best of the best may as well stick with the top 5, they rarely if ever change.

And if you schooled in some Nigerian University, you shouldn't really be casting stones at RGU. FYI,I schooled in Nigeria smiley

You said "one question" but I see three here, anyway, you're free to ask as many as wish.
1) There are always instructions on what to do after filling the application, follow the instructions.
2) Photographs are not necessary especially as this is a mother and son/daughter relationship, her passport and your birth certificate are sufficient.
3) Husband's death certificate is not required since the visit has got nothing to do with the husband's issues.

@vicjustice, i knew you would say that, lol and thanks dude.

Hello Experts
I want to invite my mum to visit for a week in Uk. I am on a work visa so I realise it has to be General visitors form. The requirements though seem to change very other day. Can anyone give me the present requirements or a link to it.
Also does anyone know what the procedure is to apply for Uk visa in Abuja and how long it takes. I want her to apply early so she can visit in July
I also heard a friend say she had to include pictures to show relationship, is that really necessary.

I will appreciate your responses. Thanks ya all

are you for real? You have not forgiven your mum till date and you are preachign forgiveness to the OP. Omo the log in your eyes is the size of Olumo rock. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.
@OP Lots of people here have given you sound advice. I will say look ahead and dont be distracted. Do what you can to help your brother get his own place if livivng with him increases the bitter feeling then keep struggling as always with all you do in life but dont let hate take root in your heart
Sorry to say but your younger b rother is not a good man thats for sure. Some parents show favoritism subtly while some are so open about theirs but its in your brothers place not to play on that and disrespect you.Since both of you are not kids and he is aware of his actions, then he no be better person.

I know soem schools do in the UK but thats a waste of money in my opinion.

Thank you for your contribution.Do you know of a place where you can study for this certification and get the opportunity of hands off training n work experience? Is India good with this too?
