The corrupt political moneybags control 70% of the mainstream media in Nigeria.

70% stakeholding is outrageous. WOW!!!

Then, there lies our woes!!! Corruption and fraud is bound to be buried under such business canopies for years to come as the press will always be reluctant to investigate and expose their masters.
Politics / Re: Atiku Injured, Flown To London For Treatment by shutmouth(m): 4:14pm On Mar 12, 2007
its funny when yar adua was flown out nobody made noise about him flying out now that its atiku every body remembers

I strongly oppose overseas trips for less serious illnesses for everyone. Yar'Adua's medical check up due to loss of breath (whatever that means) in Germany was not necessary.

Typical of Atiku, he likes to imitate his bosses. I won't be surprise if the knee injury was self-inflicted to counter the publicity Yar'Adua generated.

He simply got it wrong. He should never tell Nigerians he would give them better health services if he prefers going abroad for medical treatment for a mere knee injury. How I wish he had opted to go to a private clinic in Ajegunle, I would have admired him.

For making this blunder, Atiku is fired!!!

If you're a journalist here. you're probably in a low or high position.

I'm bold to say, shame to you, your bosses and your news media for dancing the tune of corrupt politicians and failing to be a voice for the public.

Shame!!!
Politics / The Nigerian Press Are Complete Disgrace To The Nation by shutmouth(m): 1:35pm On Mar 12, 2007
The Nigerian press has failed the Nigerian People. Rather than be a voice for the people, they are now a voice for the corrupt politicians.

Most corrupt politicians are majority stakeholders in the media houses and the press reports are becoming biased, incorrect and misleading. The Press are attacking the establishments set up to protect public funds such as EFCC. Hence, the public are no longer victims, rather the politicians are now victims of the public.

As far as the Nigerian Press is concerned, Money Talks and that is what drives their News reports. Read the breaking news today, you will be shocked. The Nigerian press are glorifying Atiku for going abroad to treat his Knee injury and they even wish him a speedy recovery.

His party AC may have already sent him a GET WELL SOON greeting card or flower. And, of course will rally the public to welcome him back at the Airport. Even OBJ gave him the Presidential jet to fly him abroad. Poor old man, he does not want to be seen as wicked. What else can he do, if the press reports will portray him as being kind to Yar'Adua and wicked to Atiku.

I am waiting to see if any journalist or media house will be bold enough to attack Atiku on this senseless trip. I am happy NairaLand members are voicing their anger and making the message clear.

Thanks to ABBA KYARI (New Age) for the article "Corruption wrenches Nigeria's soul"

joshO  thank you, you summed it all.

The Nigerian Press, Oh, It's a pity!!! Who is a victim here, the public or the corrupt politicians?

The press is to be blamed for these mess that has no ending. Rather than expose these rogues like the foreign press do, the press potray the corrupt politicians (like Atiku) as victims of the public. And that gives people like Atiku the guts to take the public for a ride.

Just go to a Church prayer/healing venue in Nigeria and see the number of terminally sick/paralyzed people who turn out in thousands seeking help and healing from God as the Govt has failed to help them and yet Atiku flies to London to treat a mere knee injury.

What a cheek?

On return, Atiku will expect a rousing welcome and his men will hire thugs to fill up his campaign venues. Has he ever visited Nigerian hospitals to see how many sick Nigerians needing emergency treatment locally and abroad? No!!!

Let the Nigerian press and those supporting Atiku be ashamed.

Atiku in a gym at 60+, fat, ugly and old. What the heck?

Atiku's doctor must have been bribed to refer him abroad.

No knee injury, my friend!!!. It's Atiku's way of getting attention.

Never mind, Atiku want to get a rousing welcome like Yar'Adua. He fears Yar'Adua took the shine off him.

KOLOMENTA, NIgerian Hospital is not good enough for this people and they want to rule us.  This people see us as Animal

Action speak louder than voice.

Atiku and Yar'Adua jetting off abroad for medical treatments in an election period has a lot to say. Even Pat Utomi sent his children abroad to study with the excuse that Nigeria is not safe.

Oil money, whatelse

If Nigeria had no oil wealth, these men will surely be abroad with their families.

Politics / Re: Crowd Mobs Yar’adua As He Arrives Nigeria! by shutmouth(m): 6:39pm On Mar 11, 2007
Crowd mobs YAR'ADUA at Lagos airport when not less than 25 molue were allowed into the international Airport. When ATIKU returned to Nigeria after his leave only a handful of family members were allowed into the airport by the police is this not double standard YAR'ADUA- police allowed a crowd into the airport but not the same for Atiku

No double standard, my friend.

Atiku fans are and have always been mostly hired thugs. Yar'Adua fans are responsible members of the public.
Politics / Re: No Reason To Celebrate Yar'adua's Return by shutmouth(m): 6:33pm On Mar 11, 2007
Believe me, it's not that difficult to correct things in Nigeria; all it takes is a strong, focused and dedicated leader.

Big B1, with your double sided swords, sometimes you sound very p**sed.

Is Ribadu not the sort of leader we already have to initiate the fixing of the ills plaguing the country and yet you and the other IBB/Atiku's fans here do not support his efforts.

What is ending

With 60% of the media houses owned by corrupt politicians who are bent on using their media outfit to blackmail EFCC and INEC.

Weep for Nigeria, my friend

The point is, when will all these bad stuff ever end in Nigeria. I weep.

Get your facts correct and it's called slowpoke and spelt as pronounced you slowpoke

Shut up and go teach your Atiku English, you dumb!!!

Definitions of maroons:
Runaway slaves in the Americas who gathered in mountainous, forested, or swampy regions and built their own self-governing communities.

Atiku's maroons like you are like run away slaves led by a blind fool.

If he likes he should win 20 cases, it absolutely amounts to nothing. That a corrupt politician has won 20 cases in a row in a corrupt justice system simply changes nothing. Who does not know that our justice system is a fraud.

Thanks McKren for still being around to enlighten these stupid Atiku's maroons.

He won court cases in the most fraud-infected court system in the world, yet he hides under immunity and cannot be sued.

Atiku cannot be sued because he is under immunity and prefers to recklessly bribe our fraudulent judiciary to dance his tune.

He is more like bragging and playing hide-and-seek game with our constitution. Saying, hahaha, come and get me!!!

He is an indicted man and remains disqualified. Period!!!

Politics / Court Today: INEC Can’t Disqualify Candidates But Too Late For Atiku by shutmouth(m): 8:35am On Mar 08, 2007
Justice Babs Kuewunmi of the Federal High court, Abuja this morning declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has no power to disqualify any candidate under the 1999 Constitution. Delivering judgement in a matter instituted by Action Congress (AC) and Vice President Atiku Abubakar against INEC, Justice Kuewunmi cited Section 32 (5) of the 2006 Electoral Act which vested the power to disqualify a candidate on the court. According to him, INEC’s function is limited to conducting elections for the 2007 polls.

Prior to this ruling, INEC had claimed that it had power to verify documents submitted by candidates for the purpose of standing for election. The court agreed that the electoral body had a vital role in the fourth schedule of the constitution as regards the conduct of elections. The judge, however, posited that Section 132 (6) of the Electoral Act 2006, also makes it a crime for a party to sponsor any candidate not fit to stand for election and stipulate a fine of N500,000 against the party. The court, however, failed to grant an order as requested by the vice president, saying that the verification exercise had been concluded by INEC.

According to Justice Kuewunmi, “the court would not grant an order over a concluded act. An injunction is not a remedy for a concluded action.” No cost was awarded in this matter.
