Politics / Re: Efcc Please Visit Delta State: by shutmouth(m): 6:07pm On Feb 26, 2007
the Governor of Delta State by the acquisition of Different executive cars for his campaign e.g. Hummer Jeep, Prado jeeps,Toyota Hiace buses, Peugeot saloon cars just to mention a few and they all have customised plate numbers bearing his name "UDUAGHAN".

This is unheard of in European politics that I am accustomed to here.

Pls send your petition to EFCC and I am sure they will do something fast.

A politician having Customized Plate Numbers bearing his name "UDUAGHAN" for election campaigns is just an insult to the people of Delta State.
Politics / National Assembly Planning To Impeach Atiku And OBJ by shutmouth(m): 5:40pm On Feb 26, 2007
National Assembly might be planning to impeach Atiku and the President.

Nzeribe is set to raise the motion in the Assembly tomorrow. President's supporters are already gearing to counter it.

Atiku said it was unnecessary and an avoidable distraction in view of the fact that the tenure of the government would expire on May 29. He said the impeachment threat would make Nigeria a laughing stock in the international community.

--------------------------------
For me, I think the impeachment of these bastards is overdue and good for the country.
Politics / Re: Inec Receives Atiku's Photographs by shutmouth(m): 1:52pm On Feb 26, 2007
Atiku remains disqualified according to INEC boss.

INEC boss said that they requested and received Atiku's photos to store it in their database should it be required after the polling cards of qualified candidates are printed.

Instances where his photo may be required is if there are any new court ruling on his disqualification.

The photos do not signify that INEC will change his disqualification that was based on the constitution, the INEC boss confirmed.
Travel / International Passport for 200 USD, Am I being Ripped Off? by shutmouth(m): 11:30am On Feb 26, 2007
I am trying to remit funds to a family member to purchase a mobile phone and obtain a Nigerian passport.

The following are the costs I received:
- Used mobile phone: 150 USD (N15,000)
- International Passport cost 200 USD (N20,000)

I suspect I am being ripped off because with 150 USD, I could buy 2 brand new mobile phones in Europe.

Can anyone confirm:
How much is a new or used Mobile Phone in Nigeria?
How much does it cost to obtain a new Nigerian Passport?

Coming back to Nigeria? You're joking, thank you very much!!!

I have sworn never to go back, not even my corpse. Keep your Nigeria and I'll keep my Europe.

Things will get better only when my great great great grandchildren turn 100 years.

Until then, I'm staying put here. Goodbye!!!

You guys are really dumb struck on this OBJ stuff in this forum that it is beginning to look like a disease. Do you need a doctor checkup or?

Nobody in this forum like or support OBJ and now can we take some rest.

Nigerian just never stop being foolish. OBJ will be out in a few days and yet some people just enjoy writing stupid stuff about him as if he is contesting the coming election.

Look Iran sent a rocket to space today and yet you Nigerians are wasting your precious time writing about OBJ.

Now, can you guys shut up and talk about Pat Utomi or other candidates and tell us some good things about them.

I just don't know what to say again than to S-C-R-E-A-M. STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 4:30pm On Feb 25, 2007
I should have known that we have now become a nation that sympathizes with fraudsters that we even fight for their causes.

It's called Fraud Culture.

I strongly support your assessment. I've given up the fight against Atiku on this forum as some people just don't understand that what is at stake today is our national interest and not Atiku's innocence or his feud with OBJ.

Many here agree with the corruption charges against Atiku but just seem to wage a constant war against OBJ who was and is still part of the corruption machinery of Atiku.

Dubious politicians have been known to reconcile after protracted wars and there are chances Atiku and OBJ will reconcile in future. When the elephants fight, it's the grass that suffer and Nigerians are paying the price for this senseless war between Atiku and OBJ.

Rather than spend time and resources in the development of our nation, they are spending time and money in courts, overseas trips and irrelevant campaigns etc, distracting those that are working hard for the country.

It's hard to comprehend, really!!!
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 4:12pm On Feb 25, 2007
Italian Premier Romano Prodi, resigned few day for just loosing a vote in parliament. A silly vote in African standard

Funny!!!

If we go by Prodi's action, OBJ and Atiku should have resigned long ago. However, in Africa, President's don't resign because they see it as their birth right.

OBJ is entitled to life-time pension and resigning is not an option as he desperately need the pension. The last time he retired, he became penniless.

OBJ seem to want to make sure Atiku does not get the life-time pension. Does Atiku really need it when he has stacked more than 600 bil Naira in Swiss bank (far below what he may have in Asian banks where I understand is the new destination for money launderers) .
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 3:44pm On Feb 25, 2007
In any political setting and in the constitution, under the principle of collective responsibility, the VP is jointly responsible for every act of the President.

Under the constitution, the President and VP are in a joint marriage venture. They remain inseparable. They both stand and fall at the same time.

It is in this light, that OBJ and his legal team are vehemently seeking the exit of the VP and they are right and may have their way through the Federal Court of Appeal.

The fact that he has refused to resign means that he is bound by the collective responsibility clause in the constitution and having left the ruling party to another political party, he is no longer a part of this marriage that bind him and the President under the principle of collective responsibility.

Who do you blame for this confusion? Of course, the parliament who drafted the constitution has to be blamed for not making proper clarifications on the issue.

Apparently u are not that different from us after all.

Yes, my love, I am here to speak and support the truth.

Tell me what Atiku is doing as VP, what VP of the world openly attacks a Government's security policy he is part of.

This is the area of Atiku I detest. Let him quit the Govt so that we can believe his many utterances. He is not just making a mockery of himself and the Presidency but a complete mockery of us all Nigerians.

He seems to dwell on the funny adage that says: "You can't beat them, join them".
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 2:59pm On Feb 25, 2007
the President has no right to declare his position Vacant, the one who can remove him from that position is the LEGISLATURE.

In Nigeria, the VP post is not a selective position but an electable position, so I agree that only the Parliament can impeach a VP.

However, there seems to be some areas in the constitution that allows the President to fire the VP.

In my view, those who sat down and wrote the Nigerian constitution must be drunk or mad.

There are so many inconsistencies.

For example, how could you give parliament the right to create a body like EFCC and afterward subject that body to the exclusive control of the Presidency who can fire the EFCC staff at will.

Thank God, the senate is currently trying to resolve that and will do so by Wednesday.

I want EFCC and Ribadu's work to be independent not under the control of OBJ.

My satire seems to be too subtle for you to grab. What I'm saying here is the exact opposite of what I believe.

Seun, I know you're never going into politics in the next 100 years.

Forums is a place where people visit to have fun, educate their minds and share experience.

You can turn jokes into real life issues especially as we are in an election mood where most people really don't know what issues face their candidates.

Your political joke, reminds me of Campus Politics, so don't mind me. I am having fun here as you do.
Politics / Re: Vote For Me And I Will Create Jobs by shutmouth(m): 2:26pm On Feb 25, 2007
In economics, printing of money is not the solution to solving a country's financial problems. Even though to a lay man it seems the best solution. People often say why can't the Government print as much money as it wants to alleviate the financial problems.

Unfortunately, the Central Bank, World Bank and IMF monitor, supervise and approve the printing of money based on inflationary conditions and economic parameters.

I can see that you share this view of Govt printing money as a long term solution.

Most experienced businessmen (like you and me), have a lot to offer, but the problem lies in the fact that solving a country's problems requires not only experience in business but expertise in other fields which you may be lacking. (no insult intended).

As a businessman like you, I'd rather continue to run my business than dabble into Politics.

Unfortunately, I am still not very convinced that your economic policies will bring about an increase in wages of Nigerian graduates to meet International Standards.

I reserve my votes for you until you can convince me further.
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 1:46pm On Feb 25, 2007
Who really cares if Atiku remains or vacates the VP post. It's just a matter of days, the post will change hands and his immunity will end. He would live to regret what will befall him as Ribadu's net are spread out to catch him once the immunity expires.

Atike can as well suck my D***K

I got more important things to do.
Politics / Re: Vote For Me And I Will Create Jobs by shutmouth(m): 1:39pm On Feb 25, 2007
I will raise the wages and expenses of Nigerians to world standards by promoting inflation. Am I not great?

I am happy with your acknowledgment of the problems and your determination to tackle it, however, it would be nice if you could elaborate further on how you hope to achieve it.
Politics / Re: Vote For Me And I Will Create Jobs by shutmouth(m): 1:31pm On Feb 25, 2007
Mr President to-be: Seun,

I came across one of your threads tilted:

How Much is a Good Salary in Nigeria?

From the members responses, I learned that new graduates in Nigeria earn less than N20,000 per month. And a member provided the following wage statistics:

100K - 130.99k ------- 5% (Oil Companies + Telecommunications Firms)
70K -  99.99K   --------10% (Banking Sector + Oil Companies + IT + Telecoms)
50K -  69.99K   -------- 20% ( Banking + IT + Medicals)
30K -  49.99K    ------ 30%  ( Hotels +IT)
15K -   29.99K  ------ 45%  (Print Media + Hotels + IT)

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-3022.0.html

Some of the above wages are less than the cost of my one-time supermarket shopping in Europe and less than my one-time remittances to family members via Western Union. So, quite below International Standard and unacceptable considering the oil wealth of the nation.

How do you hope to address this issue?
Politics / Re: Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku by shutmouth(m): 12:52pm On Feb 25, 2007
OBJ is corrupt, no doubt about it. Atiku is one of the corrupt machines, no doubt too.

The best thing for Atiku to do to prove his innocence is to purge himself from OBJ and the FG.

Remaining in government just goes to show that he want to continue being part of the corruption machine.

Atiku has long left the VP post, but his dilemma is the immunity and Ribadu's threat.

It's a no-win situation for Atiku. Staying as VP makes him look even more like a rogue.

Chief Gani Fawehinmi' Statement:

Also reacting to the Court of Appeal's decision, Lagos lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), faulted it, saying:

"The February 20, Court of Appeal unanimously decided that Alhaji Abubakar remains in his office as the nation's Vice President despite the fact that he had joined another political party and has become the Presidential candidate of that party, the Action Congress.

"I completely disagree with that decision which I consider to be constitutionally wrong, illegally untenable, technically illogical and politically dangerous for the sustenance of the nation's peace, order and good government.

Your thread title reads:

Fawehinmi Against Court Of Appeal On Atiku

And the content of your thread suggests otherwise.

Clarification
On arrival in London for a medical check up few days ago, Fawehinmi said he was completely against the Court of Appeal ruling in favor of Atiku. He said, Atiku must resign if he is no longer a member of the ruling party and if he no longer accept the policies of the FG.

I will provide the URL link of his statement once I can locate it.

it would be nice to know the last time u were @ home.

Don't you read my previous posts?. More than 20 heck of years, my man!!! Like many Nigerians abroad, due to decay and corruption, we abandoned Nigeria for good since IBB era.

Ribadu brought back the twinkle in my eyes, and I began to love my darling (Nigeria) again. Handsome guy, isn't he? Hey, beware, he was my classmate.

You know what? I never knew who the VP of Nigeria was until I visited EFCC web site few weeks ago (That is the extent of my disgust with Nigeria). When I read about Atiku's corruptions on EFCC's web site, my stomach sunk. Since then, it's been fire-to-fire.

Right now, I feel more relaxed that Atiku is off the political stage and no more in the run for the elections. Thanks to God!!!

***Atiku boys, sorry the party is over!!! At least you all have fat Naira pockets, so no qualms.
Politics / Nigerian Press Has Been Bought And Corrupted by shutmouth(m): 8:56pm On Feb 24, 2007
The Nigerian Press has been bought and corrupted by the government and the politicians. Some notorious Nigerian journalists are defending the corrupt practices of indicted politicians vociferously.

What a shame!

A journalist should do his job regardless of what the politicians think. A journalist owes a duty to society to keep them informed that is over and above his loyalty to the politicians. He should do his job according to his ethics and according to his conscience rather than according to the dictates of the politicians.
Politics / Inec Writes AC, Says Atiku Constitutionally Barred by shutmouth(m): 5:42pm On Feb 24, 2007
The Independent Nati-onal Electoral Com-mission (INEC) has written to the Action Congress (AC) formally informing it that Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate has been constitutionally barred from the April poll.

The letter is in response to an earlier letter written to the commission by AC seeking clarification on the status of its presidential flag bearer.

The INEC reply is coming amidst initial denials by the AC that it had no correspondence with INEC on the status of its presidential candidate.

THISDAY can now confirm that the AC actually wrote to the commission seeking clarification on the status of Atiku.

administrative panel of the FG

Another stupid statement. Do I really have to be your teacher here.

OK again listen.

The Constitution that Atiku is using is the same Constitution that gives the FG the power to set up any panel to indict anyone such as Administrative Panel, EFCC, Tribunals etc.

Simply put, FG has the power to set up any panel to indict anyone such as Administrative Panel, EFCC, Tribunals etc

To add to it: You do not contest indictment in court to contest elections, instead, you will be disqualified and prosecuted if you are not under immunity.
Politics / Re: Atiku: Under Our Constitution, Inec Has No Power To Disqualify Anybody by shutmouth(m): 11:40pm On Feb 23, 2007
except their indictment is quashed by the court.

You still don't know what INDICTMENT means. How can a court squash an indictment?

OK, let me explain in a clear lay man simple English

Atiku is indicted (accused) and can only be prosecuted if he is no longer under immunity. Once he is prosecuted, the court will determine if he is guilty or not.

Since he prefers to stay under immunity, he cannot be prosecuted but the constitution barres him from contesting elections because he is indicted.

Is this hard for you Atiku's uneducated pimps to understand? Still confused?

This is an old news. Atiku made this statement on the day he arrived back from UK.

A lot has happened since then such as INEC refusing to accept his running mate OBI as it does not make sense since he is already barred.

You might as well close this thread, it's misleading!!!
Politics / Re: Atiku Must Resign Immediately by shutmouth(m): 9:49pm On Feb 23, 2007
Atiku and 20 other Nigerians who were maintaining foreign shady bank accounts in the United States were asked to close them. This was because the American security agents who initially did not know the origin of the money, later traced it to deals from Nigeria. It was against this background that they asked all those involved to move their money out of the US. It was at this juncture that Jennifer reportedly moved $600 million out of the US to the Union Bank of Switzerland, UBS. In that bank, he has Jennifer, his wife as a co-signatory to the account.

When they successfully moved the money, Jennifer went to Geneva and attempted to move it again, specifically to build the ABTI American University, Yola owned by the Atikus. But the Swiss banks did not allow her to move the money. This was based on their suspicion that the money came from Nigeria through money laundering. Although Jennifer is married to Atiku, she is an American citizen. This was why the Swiss bankers told her that as an American citizen if she had such money, she ought to have declared it to the US Inland Revenue Service. They argued that since she had not declared it in US for tax purposes, it stands to reason that she was dodging payment of taxes to the US government and the penalty for this offence is jail.

Swiftly, the Swiss bankers reported to the US government that such money came from the US. The US security agents immediately swung into action and searched Jennifer residence because she was earning $200 a week. Baffled by what they discovered, the US government officials called Obasanjo on August 1, alleging that his government was very corrupt. They asked him where Atiku got the money which he stashed in a foreign bank account. Obasanjo's response was that it had nothing to do with his government but was strictly an individual's issue.

Newswatch gathered that during the search of Atiku's house in Maryland, USA, by F.B.I officials, August 3, they found documents on payments to American congressmen through Jefferson. The last cheque was $100,000. It was further learnt that F.B.I. subpoenas are focused on a telecommunications deal Jefferson was trying to engineer in Nigeria over the past year, The US government then called George Obiozor, Nigeria's ambassador to US to alert him about the happenings. Obiozor immediately sent two reports on the incident to the federal government. He was instructed to follow it up through diplomatic channels to establish the facts involved on the issue”
