My concern isn't that there will be war, far from it. My concern is that the old feuds and rivalries would lead to friction which would be antithetic to development and peaceful existence. Similar to what you have in Nigeria today. Whilst I believe that inter-marriage amongst the various groups has helped to reduce the significance of these feuds, I still believe it will be an issue.

But I don't think it will ever be as profound as Nigeria's. And even that can be negated under a well defined provincial structure, with true fiscal federalism. We can use the Canadian, German, or Chinese model - those three models are fantastic.

The most important thing is the common language, culture, tradition, heritage, and people. The aftermath of Kiriji wars gave us a unique language and one identity under the Yoruba umbrella - similar to the ethnic English who were all splinter Germanic groups but never had a common language and identity till the English language and identity were formulated/created. That's the common goal we need - something Nigeria will always lack.

Bruv, based on anecdotal observation, I would argue that Nupe folks are more territorial and ambitious than people recognise. Although largely disenfranchised within the current federal structure, I find their hussle admirable.

I just checked Nupe arts and there's no semblance with Ife arts since both were based on realism/naturalism and a representation of the people, their culture, traditions, spirituality, and lifestyle. Unlike Bini arts which were more about finesse.

So why would Nupes leave the representation of the Nupes out of their bronze casting and create arts that represent Yorubas, unless they were Yoruba slaves, which wasn't the case?

That's the problem with a lot of these revisionists - they don't think before spouting tripe everywhere in their quest for pseudo-superiority. The guy is a clown.

This is the list of Yoruba boys I found playing for different football academies in the UK. They're all U-18, apart from Oduwa. I purposely left out a few established ones like: Ola Aina, Dele Alli, Moses Odubajo, and Dominic Solanke.

Considering how difficult it's to get into football academies in the UK - especially when you have gone past the "schoolboy" age. These guys are talented. Coupled with the fact that, when you're not white, it's more difficult. So you have to be supremely talented and composed when you go for trials. And once you flop one chance during trials, you may not be able to get another one.

In terms of spread, Yoruba are into more sports although the dominance is only in Table Tennis. The issue I tend to have with Yoruba in sports is one of discipline. Sport requires discipline but current players aren't too disciplined hence the limited success.

You forgot NBA and NFL (though there are more Igbos in the league, there are also loads of Yoruba guys and more are coming through).

We're pretty decent in track and field as well. Dasaolu has the second fastest time for 100m in British history and Philip Idowu is the 2nd greatest triple jumper in British history. Not forgetting the greatest British Decathlon athlete - Daley Thompson - who won two Olympics gold medals and broke the world record four times.

David Alaba of Bayern Munich is also Yoruba. And apparently his dad took him to Nigeria to play for the country when he was 15/16 and he was rejected. Yet the same guy is leading a mediocre Austrian team to the Euro Championship in France. Guardiola called him the most gifted/versatile footballer on the planet and he can play any position. The guy isn't even 26 yet, but he has won everything to be won in football at club level.

I have always asked this question whenever people say Yorubas don't excellece in sports than ......you know now, when i know it's not true. Why? We set football as the only benchmark for achievement in sports in Nigeria, whereas we have other sports where Yorubas are doing even better.

Nevertheless, We can't ignore or pretend Yoruba's are not doing well in football only in Nigeria. Why? I think we should start with football. Shalom
