Jobs/VacanciesRe: NLNG Test 2013. by SilaV: 5:34am On Nov 06, 2013
Thumbs up to my big bosses in the house.I am aware that there are varieties of options when it comes to top-up degree programme;I only chose to mention the one that seems easiest and most convenient.I went back to one of Nigerian Universities two years ago and put in for a B.ENG programme, starting from 300L.Yea,I work in a manufacturing multinational(sector?) on shift basis and also running a full time programme in Electrical-Electronics Engineering ;not doing badly CGPA-wise(to GOD be the glory). Not many people can endeavour to 'waste' another three years again having spent five years in the polytechnics but the outcome of perseverance will be worth it.It is not as if I couldn't go for PGD and later opt for Masters, but the "fundamentals" will always find or rear its ugly head later.Again,it takes a duration of one and half years to complete a PGD programme while a B.sc programme will last for three years having started from 300L.The one and half years difference is nothing compared with the emancipation from HND-B.sc dichotomy. The truth is what will be will surely be but I find it nauseating to get treated like a second class citizen based on certificate.Personally,I hate to complain over things I cannot change, hence, the need to do the needful.By the grace of God,I will be rounding off next year.If I am among the chosen ones(GOD has always been faithful unto me whether NLNG or not),I know how to go about it to ensure that I complete the programme.
I believe that we shall make it to the very end:more interestingly,it's not going to be by our efforts......NLNG.

teeo: My fear with nlng is the discrimination between HND and university graduates, no matter how hi the pay is for now. I wouldn't like to work in a place where I won't have a rapid growth because of my HND, someone might say get a pgd,am woworking on that but nevertheless it seems the disparity between the two is always emphasized in NLNG. Degree holders are employed with a higher class. Am just saying my thoughts cause am considering two federal jobs.
The first thing is to go 'Bonny way',boss."First thing first". When we are in,one can undergo an on-line top-up degree programme meant for HND holders from the likes of University of Portsmouth or UNISA.This programme is billed to last for one or two years, depending on how one wants it.Having obtained this,if the management of NLNG shows reluctance in upgrading one, then one can wait for opportunities as experienced hires from oil coys like Total,Chevron,Mobil, etc by applying with B.sc.

mohsaaf: one of the coordinator in Abuja centre told us dat 200 to be invited 4 interview amd 35 to be recruited.by God grace we re nt wating dat long
As regards the number of candidates interviewed,I think they are more than 200.The reason being that between 20 and 25 candidates were scheduled for for each day of the interview days which spanned 6 days both in Lagos and Port-Harcourt.The number of candidates to be recruited will be a joint decision of the recruitment team and NLNG Board, not that of a single individual. At my test venue in Lagos,we were told that the result of the test would be out within 3 weeks and that never came to pass:call for interview later came about two months after.
I think the earliest time for contacting of successful candidates may be between late January and first two weeks of February next year(just my personal opinion). One interesting thing is that we shall go "Bonny way" and the main truth is that it's not going to be by our power.....

dedarks: Gradually the house is going into silence, just as it happened in 2009 recruitment.
It could be true what a guy I met @ d interview told me yesterday.
Silence,at times, could be golden, bro.Again ,if you and I do often make meaningful comments to keep the house busy, and not just view ,then the house will be ever active.Could you, please, share with the house what the guy told you!

The interviewees of the last Trainee Operator recruitment exercise had to wait for about four months before the results were out.About 29 were successful out of 400 that were interviewed. This present recruitment exercise has less than 400 interviewed candidates but ..........?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by SilaV: 7:29am On Oct 30, 2013
Only if the prospective candidates would read this post! The truth is that the last Trainee Operator test was computer based. The test for Lagos center was written at Chams City(Dragnet) but never conducted by Dragnet. NLNG had their questions displayed in the computer screen of dragnet and the supervision was done by NLNG staff. The last test was a bit different from the one they used to have. The parts were made of Data Checking, Mechanical reasoning, Shapes manipulations, Numerical and Verbal reasoning. Dragnet materials can only be relevant as a practice guide in the areas of verbal and numerical ONLY.GMAT could be studied for the areas of Mechanical reasoning and shapes orientation.Data Checking requires a lot of speed:as a clue, check and memorize the first and last three letters given and compare it with the given options. You can visit assessmentday.com for real live simulations of verbal and numerical.Don't be scammed or deceived by anybody who might claim to have the exact questions of NLNG as things have changed. All what is required is speed and accuracy.
I am still waiting for the outcome of the Trainee Operator interview and hoping for the best.I wish you all the best.

You are welcome on board, bro. The most important thing as far as this just concluded interview is concerned is favour of God.Even if one had read the whole encyclopedia before the interview, one still needs the uncommon grace of God.Soon, the sound of the roll call will blow. All must be well.

perrylynx: Its divided mech is still having interviews till the last day. Just read ur basics and put God in the equation. Ppl have been interviewed since monday till date only one person said sumtin so I doubt u can get any info here right now.
Oga ,I have a lot of respect for your objectivity. The truth about this NLNG interview is that one should study ones basics in terms of field of study very well,be able to defend the content of ones CV(for those already working),be confident by showing lots of comportment and believe in GOD.all these pieces of information going round as regards purported interview questions can only be used as an addendum, not totally reliable.NLNG has loads and enough questions to ask every candidate invited for the interview without necessarily repeating any,so my advise for those that have not done theirs is to read wide.

I had my interview the very first day it started and by the grace of God, I had a nice time and hoping to be called for medicals.I was never asked questions on any thing on stuffs I have been reading about: just about my work experience as a process personnel in a manufacturing multinational and a bit of questions from my field. The point I am making is that don't be distracted, but read wide and be comported. If it is the will of GOD we shall all see in Bonny Camp to interact.Again, people should not be requesting for the exact questions from their colleagues as nobody would want to put himself/herself at disadvantage all in the name of head up.The truth is what will be will always be irrespective of whether someone told you anything or not.

We are all lifted.

I cant forward or send it to any email cos its very heavy (405mb). Actually, its information about nlng history and everything that goes down there in that company. Its in power point, word and pdf format. Anyone in uyo can get it hand to hand.
Good job, bro.Keep it up.You are one in a million and may Almighty God bless you for your selfless service.

dirtymoney: for those who would be taking the total test in port harcourt. I have very helpful materials for the nlng interview. Am taking my test on the 8th by 1pm. U cn wear a name tag. And come with a computer, cuz d materials are in my flash. Best of of luck to we all. For those who quoted my previous post, kindly edit it. I apologise for making such utterance.
There seems not to be any form of correlation between your first and second statement. Are you trying to talk about total test material which will be useful to the would be participants or the NLNG interview material?

Again, there are threads for the up-coming Total test where exchange of materials and ideas can take place. We are all lifted even as the the focus of the thread is not derailed.

adekanmbi1986: If u are destined to be great, u will surely be great with or without HND,BSC etc. I have a friend that joined Tower Group with OND, he moved to First Bank, then to Nestle. While at Nestle, he went for his HND and after that, he joined Coca-Cola as Maintenance Engineer with HND this year april. He is now with Schlumberger with HND. HND.
Great! I think I know that your friend, his surname starts with K.

lukaino: Going for a B.sc after MBA was not an easy decision. it was one borne out of some kind of frustration. Just imagine a scenario where you see a job advert clearly asking for "a good first degree" No equivalents... you'll agree with me that most blue chip companies in various sectors are guilty of this outright discrimination. They dont just want to see the HND even when you have the PGD.
To answer your question, i was able to go straight for my MBA(Uniben) because i had an Upper credit in my HND. Even now that i am running my Bsc programme, i was allowed to start at 300 level(Unilag) because of same Upper credit. After getting this BSc, i will now ses how they will scheme me out of any Job opening which i am qualified for. I just pity for those guys in Polytechnics right now, wish they know how tough it is out here.
Good one, brother.I love your determination to excel. I made a similar move by applying through Direct Entry into 300L with my HND Upper Credit.Within the next twelve calendar months,I will be through by God's grace. The piece of advice I will give to HND holders with Upper credit is to go for a DE into 300L and not PGD.It takes 2 years to complete a PGD programme ,while it takes 3 years to complete a 5-year B.SC programme (starting from 300L):just a difference of 1 year. Again, the fact that one has a PGD does still not make the HND certificate "equivalent" to B.Sc,not even after you have gone for your Masters and PHD(if you are allowed to do so). Reference would always be made to your "first degree"(no disregard meant for those that had gone for PGD,please). Many multinationals like shell,Unilever,GSK,Halliburton, among others hardly employ HND graduates.Shell, for instance, prefers hiring OND(through SITP) and B.SC holders to HND graduates even if they have PGD and Masters. So,for those that have not gone for their PGD,I would say "pay the worthwhile sacrifice once and for all "and fulfill all righteousness. For HND graduates with Lower Credit,....hmmm...it takes a stronger commitment to go back to 200L having spent 5 years in the polytechnic. However,I have a few friends who had Lower Credit, went back to the university and are about to graduate. Some schools in the north, like FUTMINNA, do admit HND(lower Credit) into 300L:I have a friend that just graduated with First Class(Elect-Elect) from FUTMINNA who applied through HND(Lower Credit) Direct Entry. The point is that one should find a suitable job doing while running the programme because age might not be on ones side again to continue depending on guardians. For those that are already working with good pay,UNISA, University of Portsmouth may be a good flexible means of having a B.SC through an online (DL) top-Up programme.I have a couple of friends in my place of work that are running online top-up degree programme with the two schools I earlier mentioned, but I chose to go for a Nigerian University. HND graduates residing in Port-Harcourt environs could go to UNIPORT for a top-up degree programme specifically designed for HND holders.
The truth is we can become great in life with or without HND or even B.SC and what will be will always be.However, for some that hate discrimination and abhor being denied certain opportunities due to this singular factor,it is advisable that we do the needful.

All these may sound nonsensical to many;that why should we go through all these! All I will say is that I personally hate to complain over things I cannot control:we can only ''endure" it.No wonder an adage says,"A disease that cannot be cured must be endured."

Jobs/VacanciesRe: HND And The Recent Immigration.....a Must Read!!! by SilaV: 9:05am On Sep 15, 2013
This may not be the best time to start debating. The Original Poster of this thread has the intention of creating some sorts of awareness as regards the omission of HND holders in the advertised positions of Nigerian Immigration Service,a Federal Government agency, under the ministry of interior.Of course, there might be some few errors during the course of typing or otherwise;that is not enough reason for us to derail the thread. We are the leaders of tomorrow and need to display some attributes of a good leader.
Again,on the issue of disparity between HND and B.SC certificates, the functions of the two certificates are different and have been clearly spelt out by the certificate awarding bodies.Even, the various personnel and at times, facilities, available for the award of the two certificates should serve as a pointer towards the functions they are to perform. The Federal Ministries have different starting scales and rising limits for the two certificates under discussion. In the field of Engineering, where I belong,we have the Engineering Family:the Craftsman, the Technician,Technologist and Engineers are given different titles based on their qualifications. The Engineers are the head of the Engineering family and he is a B.Sc/B.Eng/B.Tech holder. The polytechnic system is aimed at producing middle level manpower, though it may be painful. Some countries arround the world have either upgraded their polytechnics/monotechnics or scraped them in order to avoid the mess Nigeria is facing today.
I am proudly a holder of HND in Electrical-Electronics Engineering and God has always been faithful.Truth be told, there is nothing one can do, for now, in Nigeria to stop this 'HND-B.Sc' dichotomy. The best move to stop this disparity was made by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo during the twilight of his administration but could not complete the project due to time factor.Of course, I am about concluding my B.Eng(Elect-Elect) in order to avoid all these 'artificial' limitation and obstacles being placed on HND certificate.I can say that I am doing well despite the fact that I am running a full time programme and also a permanent employee of a multinational;this is to say that university education has been over-amplified.
@Kalokalo, I have a lot of respect for you, though you may not know who I am.We used to be in the 'struggle' for NNPC job together and as at present, still dreaming of having a spot with NLNG.Just make your point clear and stop further argument. We are all lifted and happy Lord'sday to everyone.

I am convinced that your friend never showed you the mail to authenticate his claim.Again,I want to believe that the "friend" of yours is not the same guy in another job forum who claimed to have received a success mail but could not validate his claim when he was challenged to do so.You can request for an edited copy of the invitation for interview he purportedly received.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Employment Test: 1+1=? Justify Your Assertion by SilaV:
It depends on the perspective with which an individual wants to view the equation. For instance,if we were to look at it from mathematics angle, then the following conditions would apply:
(1) The number bases you are working with.If it were to be base ten, then the answer would be 2.However,if it were to be base two,the answer would be "10"(pronounced one-zero)
(2)The operation the "cross" symbol represents. That is,the concept of binary operation would be looked at.In binary operation, the cross or plus sign is not regarded as the "normal addition" operator.Any sign that comes in-between two numbers in binary operation is often expressed as "operation". For example, 1+1 is read as "one operation one". Of course, in binary operation if the plus sign actually means addition, then one of the rule would apply;1+1= 1.
Again, if the equation is to be looked at from social perspective, then the institution of marriage would come to mind.In marriage: 1+1=1
Just my contribution.

DAWOOU: got d text too it was unsucessful but d last statement is a questionable one.Ur Score is not ur performance how?
Based on what I was told by an individual who once wrote and passed their test, the total score is not the real performance; one must have a pass mark in each of the sections candidates were tested on.Take for instance, lets assume that Verbal, numerical, mechanical, data checking and spatial ability carry 50 marks each,it is expected that you have a minimum of the predetermined cut-off mark,say30,for each of the sections. So, a candidate that scores 150/250,having 30 points in each section will be seen to have passed. However,a candidate that scores 170/250,scoring below 30 in one/any of the sections but scores exceedingly high in other sections, will be seen as being unsuccessful despite the overall high score he has.In a nutshell the concept is that of "fail in one, fail in all"
