It was really amazing listening to these great minds. Nigeria is really blessed to have had some of the finest brains in the world of Literature. This interview was full of grace and class. I do hope that we(Nigeria youth) will not turn this into a tribal war. The interesting thing is that these wonderful individuals have paid their dues , and they lived beyond ethnicity, and unnecessary display of ego, as prevalent today among many Nigerian youth. There was mutual respect, and none was trying in any way to be the smarter scholar. Comments, by these present youth, that will herald this post may be in sharp contrast with what the two literary giants showcased in the interview. Also in the interview was South African Lewis Nkosi, but the spotlight is on the two Nigerian writers. SilaV:Anyone on this? |
Good day everyone, please I have a quick question as regard Proof of Fund. I got approved by Mpower Finance for a student loan into one of its participating universities in Canada. How does this impact on approval for Study Permit? Actually, I was admitted into a thesis program, and the department has asked me to apply for the departmental funding ( Graduate Assistantship) in late July/early August, but I think waiting till around that time before applying for study permit may be a bit late. So, what advice does gurus in the house have for me in this regard? Should I go ahead and use Mpower Finance student loan or I should wait till August, get a GA ( covers for tuition + stipend of about 5400 per Term) before applying? Does anyone know individuals who used the likes of Mpower Finance, Prodigy Fianance, or any other student loan banks for international students and got approved? |
So, guys writing their test on the first day should please let the house know if on-screen calculator was allowed. The regular calculators are usually not allowed, but I have heard people say that on-screen calculators could be used. |
Good job you guys are doing in the house, here. Please,I am having a question concerning the information concerning Partner Skills. Does it mean that all the listed conditions under it must be fulfilled before one can get the 5 points under this category. |
@npowerng, what about individual who gave birth sometime last year before the implementation of this maternity leave? Can such individuals still go ahead with the request? I am asking because of an N-power beneficiary who gave birth around this time last year. Her Head Teacher told her she was not entitled to a maternity leave. So, can she still benefit from this? Again, I will like to see the link to this information |
@abujaniv, Please, I need a clarification as to whether there is a laid down rule as to the order of arrangement of documents( e.g. appointment confirmation first, followed by DS-160 confirmation,... etc). Again, should these documents be stapled together as or not. the reason I am making this inquiry is to avoid any form of "orientation" from the hustlers at the consulate. |

SilaV: abujaniv:Thanks for your prompt response @abujaniv, the issue is that they are not accompanying me now.Even in my i-20, the expenses of dependents were not calculated because their passports were not ready, though I informed the school through the completed form that i have dependents. My dependents may only come around during the vacation period and it is not going to be any moment so soon. The information in my I-20 shows no expense for dependents. So, is it possible for me to go ahead with the booking without including my dependent information, won't it become an issue when they are now ready for their interview? Or Can I fill the form without including their passport numbers and sevis information at this time? |
Hello abujaniv and lagosniv: I am in the process of booking my F1 visa interview appointment and it is required that I fill-in information about my dependents( wife and two kids) but their passports and 1-20s are not yet ready.Should I skip that page or I should wait till the required documents are ready before continuing with the booking ? I f I do continue with the booking now, hope it won't affect them when their documents are now available and they are to go for their interview. Actually, they are not going with me now but may join me later. Advise needed. |

OluDare01:This information you(as an insider) just dropped is very timely, bro.Tennessee Technological University is one of the schools in my radar, with the hope of getting a TA/RA position. I have always heard that they are generous with funding; even the information about funding on their site subtly attests to this. Please, do you know whether this 70% loss of funding also affects the Electrical and Computer Engineering department? |
Topiipii:Thanks a lot, @Topiipii. |
A beautiful evening to this lovely e-family. I will be making some application payments using my debit cards and I don't know how secured the web page of these schools are. I will be glad to hear from veterans in the know, here, whether my concern about this is well- founded. |

SilaV:How I wish info could get to the managers of MMM |
I sincerely do not want MMM to crash; not because I have any money in it, but I believe it has helped a couple of guys that joined early in some ways. The ONLY WAY MMM can bounce back is to use this technique that one of the similar communities is using. The technique is that you MUST PH for the SECOND TIME before being allowed to GH for your first PH ;and this second PH you are to make must not be less than the first PH you made. With this system in place, there will always be money available for every potential participant that will want to GH. Also, there won't be anything like people making panicking withdrawal because there is the trust that the last person that GHep also has money relaunched into the system. What this means is that anyone that feels like withdrawing his/her membership will still leave money into the system to cater for those that are to GH.I believe if MMM can implement this, the system will be on ground for a very long time. The only sacrifice those whose money is frozen now is to provide another help get in order to get their money back and let the system continues. If this is not done, no sane person will provide the help you need in January because it is evident that you will run away after being able to "survive" the heat. The Guilders and managers of MMM should take note of this information and implement it if they want a sustainable system next year.[/quote |

This, indeed, is an interesting topic that requires a great deal of experience and wisdom. To start with, some fundamental questions need be asked: 1. Do you have a clear-cut good vision for traveling abroad? If the answer to this question is in the affirmative, then we can proceed to the next question. 2. Do you intend traveling as a legal residence via any of the available legal options? 3. Does the country you are traveling to have an immigration consideration for married individuals and their kids; which could be in form of family re-union? 4.For how long do you intend to " stabilize" before you make the move for family re-union? 5. Are there plans in place to cater for the health(as in registering your spouse and kid(s) with an HMO), security and financial needs of your family for the duration of your absence? If these questions can be adequately and reasonably answered, then, I personally see no reason why emotions should not be shoved aside and do the needful. The few years of missing one another would be worth the while at the end of the day. Now, I want to relay the experiences of some of my close pals. Of course,, successful stories of good individual who left their families for a period of between two and four years, later got re-united and continued their lives in "saner climes". I used to work in a multinational and most of my colleagues were underemployed with no visible organizational plan for growth and development. All you do is come to work, perform your task and collect you salary at the end of the month . Yes, guys are building houses and buying cars with car loan from the organization but the truth is the nature of work is very stressful, physically demanding and at times "demeaning" for holder of B.sc or HND. Sequel to this, what some guys, who knew their onions and believed they deserved a better life, did was to save for some years and jet out. Most of these guys( I mean the intelligent and brilliant ones) have either HND or B.Sc but work with OND or SSCE due to unemployment. They travelled to the likes of Canada, Us, Germany and others for Masters and stayed behind to look for job after which they came for their families. My contribution here might appear like an epistle but that is just the truth and of course, the trend, where I used to work. Again, a very close pal of mine has his brother doing well in Canada now. His wife travelled first as a nursing professional and he later joined her. The experiences he had garnered in Nigeria here enabled him to get engaged in Canada easily. The summary of this is simple: if you have a very good goal and you are convinced about it, do travel out but as a legal "immigrant", have a time lag (which to me, should not be more than three years) as to when you will re-unite with you family, work towards it with prayers and determination; while being faithful to your spouse and course, always keep in touch with your family while you are away using the modern means of telecommunication. This is not a mere theoretical write-up; it has been practised and it worked out. Shalom! |
All the five contestants are fairly beautiful. That said, intellingence rocks for me.Someone is the most intelligent here. She also knows the responsibilities that come alonngside her position. TWACI is the one. CC: NLJEGA |
I want to use this medium to wish my fellow hopefuls a happy weekend.May all our good expectations never be cut short.I have always said something:we shall make it to the very end, more interestingly,it's not going to be by our efforts......NLNG |
BlessedFellow: Thanks for the update Bro!You are welcome, sir. |
dirtymoney: sir, you have nt given me any respond with regards the question i asked about the university that offered you 300L via DE. i ve sent you a PM, so we can discuss further.I am pretty sorry, boss, for not responding before now.It was an oversight. The truth is that most universities in the South West do admit HND holders(in Engineering or any other five-year course) with Distinction or Upper Credit into 300L. The likes of FUNAAB,OOU ,OAU,UNILAG (though it has a bias for Distinction) and some other Universities in South-West will offer any HND graduate with Distinction or Upper Credit admission into part 3 without any stress or influence. The reason being that Direct Entry admission with HND is relatively less competitive because many people consider it a waste of time or a sort of insult:having spent five years in the Monotechnic or Polytechnic already. However,FUTA happens to be the only exemption I am aware of:the school prefers to offer PGD admission to HND graduates.I choose to limit my discussion to the Universities in South west because that is where I reside-in. UNIPORT(I believe we all know) also has a programme for HND graduates called post-HND programme.I will round-off my B.ENG programme next year (by God's grace) in one of the listed universities above.I will be glad to reply your PM should you need further information.Your location may determine the University you would like to choose;if it is South-west,then there may be the need for us to discuss further. Thanks. |
A very good morning to my fellow hopefuls.@all,may we be blessed even as we align ourselves with the focus of this thread.Much has been mentioned before now pertaining to "NLNG past questions". It would be a noble thing if prospective posters(especially intending GT's) could spare a bit of their time in reading previous posts and comments on this same issue (no insult meant, please). We are all lifted in the name of our LORD,even as we show understanding in this regard. |
nelklyn: Yeah that's true...NLNG provided calculatorsOh my bad,I goofed! NLNG actually provided us with calculators.Bro BlessedFellow, calculator was allowed. Many thanks to my big bosses in the house,Nelklyn and Wildrose ,for bringing me back to the right track.Good afternoon to my fellow hopefuls. |
BlessedFellow: @SilaV: were you allowed to used a calculator for the test?Bro,calculator was not allowed. |
Thank you so much SilaV for the tip, the truth is I know that can be no exact verbatim questions from any material whatsoever. As for the dragnet practice guide pls could you link me to the website that I might find this?
You are welcome,Big Sister.I will advise that you visit this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1507959/shell-schlumberger-shl-gmat-past Read the first post and take a decision on what to do.I will oblige you not to be giving out your real E-mail address in any public forum to prevent you from being scammed and to protect your identity.I wish you the best. |
I need to emphasize that I am IN NO WAY TRYING TO DIVERT THIS THREAD, I know most people here are HOPEFULS waiting for one MAIL/CALL or the other. I am actually just asking for any form of PAST QUESTIONS WHETHER WEB BASED OR ANY OTHER FORM TO PREPARE WITH (NLNG might call me for test any time soon, they are currently recruiting). It does not matter whether you used your material to prepare for an Operator Trainee Position or whatever it is I would be very THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL.PLEASE HELP ME OUT and SEND TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS I stated which is oyinibidunni@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance.
I once made a post in NLNG Graduate Trainee thread(page4,I think) ,started by DmainMan , concerning "NLNG past questions ". I will paste the the comment here again so that you can read and understand. SilaV:Only if the prospective candidates would read this post! The truth is that the last Trainee Operator test was computer based. The test for Lagos center was written at Chams City(Dragnet) but never conducted by Dragnet. NLNG had their questions displayed in the computer screen of dragnet and the supervision was done by NLNG staff. The last test was a bit different from the one they used to have. The parts were made of Data Checking, Mechanical reasoning, Shapes manipulations, Numerical and Verbal reasoning. Dragnet materials can only be relevant as a practice guide in the areas of verbal and numerical ONLY.GMAT could be studied for the areas of Mechanical reasoning and shapes orientation.Data Checking requires a lot of speed:as a clue, check and memorize the first and last three letters given and compare it with the given options. You can visit assessmentday.com for real live simulations of verbal and numerical.Don't be scammed or deceived by anybody who might claim to have the exact questions of NLNG as things have changed. All what is required is speed and accuracy. I am still waiting for the outcome of the Trainee Operator interview and hoping for the best.I wish you all the best. |
