RomanceRe: The Older The Cherry, The Sweeter The Juice by silentc(m): 6:31pm On Jun 04, 2010
I think older women are more confident and tend to know what they want in the bedroom, hence the impression "the sweeter the juice".

I dont think this is the case for men though.

You know what they say , "Youth is wasted on the young". A sixteen year old boy probably has the libido but not skills in bed and a 45 year old man is more skilled (due to experiences) but his body cant handle it the way it could when he was 16.

Life is one big joke!  grin

I am not here to defend Cap28 in anyway. This forum is a means for us all to educate ourselves and share ideas.

Putting all the arguments and insults aside, Cap28 has raised some good points about racism. This what I want to focus on. I want to ignore all other issue that can put me in a situation where i am misdirected from what i can learn from this debate. It doesn't matter if Cap28 wants to stay in the UK or not.

Racism exists in the western world. Institutional racism is what i mean. "In your face" racism is less nowadays. In your face racism is even easier to deal with. The challenge is the hidden system that is prejudiced to the black race. Off course a black British person will face a different level of racism in comparison to an African who immigrated to the UK in the last 3 years. The point is they all face the prejudice.

I will give you an example that I am sure has happened to many other people and was also in the news (I cant remember where i read it, I think it was an under cover reporter in the BBC). This person (maybe it was me  grin ) sent their CV to a recruitment agency and they had a name that clearly shows it was of African origin and got no response from the agency. The next day I advised this person to change their name to a generic sounding English name and resend the CV and they got a call from the agency later in the afternoon. I kid you not, this wasn't a story someone told me, it really happened.

I know there might be a million reasons why this happens, but I am quite sure that there was something to do with prejudice (if not institutional racism) in the minds of the recruiter on receiving a CV of someone who clearly sounds African.

Let us not digress from this conversation, I know that tribalism and nepotism exists in Nigeria. I am happy to share my experiences there if the topic is raised on this forum. We are talking about injustice abroad, let us stick to it and not take the conversation to a personal level where we insult each other.

The post is aimed at your experience of injustice abroad. I am sure one of us can start another post of injustice in Nigeria or better still black on black injustice.

This topic isnt about comparing injustice abroad and Nigeria. Again, valid comments, but wrong debate.

EloSela:
Well for some of us 'abroad' is Nigeria and so naturally we are going to talk about those times when we felt we were discriminated too.

Furthermore Rosa Parks and Martin Luther Kings were fighting for justice in their home land, a land where their ancestors were born. What other 'home' did you expect them to go to?

Other than that you made some good points.
Cap28 says he was born in the UK and I would guess (and please correct me) that you too were born and grew up in the UK.

If Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks were fighting for justice in their home land, then isnt Cap28 doing the same? How many Nigerians in the UK are no more than 2nd generation British i.e their parents grew up in Nigeria? If Martin luther Kings's ancestors were born in the US and as such he can stand up to racism in the US, then is it safe to say your own ancestors who would have been born in Nigeria gives you no right to think that "abroad" is Nigeria but instead home? as you have mentioned above?

Bear in mind I have made an assumption that you have Nigerian parents etc and I stand corrected.

I am not trying to catch you out or "prove" anything to you. Just want to have a healthy debate as your viewpoint is as important as mine.

CAP28

When are you going to end your misery and go back to Nigeria?
Elosela I know you directed your comment to cap28, but I would like to respond to that (if you dont mind).

The matter here is that he is someone who is passionate about injustice and prejudice. It doesnt matter if he is going to go to Nigeria today or tommorow. We need people to speak out with regards to what is right or wrong. Prejudice with regards to blacks is wrong.

Some people may say he comes across as bitter, some people see him as passionate about injustice. There are many issues affecting Africa as a continent and Nigeria as a country and when those topics are raised in this forum, we will address them. The topic at hand is injustice abroad. Cap28 has experienced this and is discussing his opinions. His going back to Nigeria has no relation to your own views or experiences (which we want to hear and share) or his.
PoliticsRe: Have U Ever Experienced Injustice Abroad? by silentc(m): 11:21am On Jun 01, 2010
It is unconcievable for anyone to say there there is no injustice or discrimination abroad. Thats said, I dont agree with the position of people that say "well look at home in Nigeria as we discriminate too". Off course we do, but we need to stick to the discussion which is referring to injustice abroad. Our views and opinions of this does not affect our views on discrimination in Nigeria. So mentioning that doesnt in anyway help or diversify the conversation which is about injustice abroad.

Also, people who have the opinion, "well if you arent happy abroad, go home" are seeing it from the wrong angle. What is Rosa Parks went home to her roots, what if Martin Luther King went home to his roots, what if Malcom X went home to his roots? These people stood up for injustice and won. They created the first steps to equality that all men deserve. The next steps need to be taken (prejudice and indirect discrimination in the society) and we need to be aware and understand that IT DOES EXIST

In a white dominated country, there is always prejudice. It is easier for the white lower and middle class to survive. The black find it harder to even live an everage life. What i mean is that yes, a few of us make it and succeed (decent job, career  prospects/progression, respect in the industry etc, we just had the first black CEO of a major British company i.e Tidjane Thiam), but majority of blacks find it harder due to the different prejudices out there.

I have not had a bad experience in the UK and I am lucky to be doing well in my field, but I would be foolish to think that those that find it difficult do so because they didnt work hard or arent as good as I am. Yes I work hard and try to be the best in my field, but there are people who are better skilled, more intelligent than I am and are being pushed back because of the prejudice of their skin colour. These guys could have excelled if it wasnt for the prejudices of a white dominated country.

Yes, some of us push and push and achieve our goals, but the pushing to succeed will be a whole lot easier if you were white.

Seems you guys dont get what is going on here.

It is marketing. She is wearing something she designed and which is similar to clothes worn in the Moulin Rouge(you know she has a passion for fashion, after all she cant play tennis forever) . Remember she is in France for the French Open and as such Moulin Rouge (which is a French cabaret) is quite relevant.

At the end of the day, she has garnered publicity from the French public and world as a whole. It is just a marketing ploy.

I dont think it is fair to start a topic like this against mama-gee. I dont know if she has the intention of being a moderator (or has mentioned it in another post).

Saying all that, I don't think she has the quality of a moderator (power corrupts as we all know). I reserve my personal views on her. First of all, if she has the ambitions of being a moderator, she shouldn't be exchanging insults with other forum members on this thread. It would have been best she ignored it.
Foreign AffairsRe: Arizona Immigration Law. Necessary Or Bad Law? by silentc(m): 9:35pm On May 22, 2010
@silentc,

The Arizona law does not do any of the things you fear. For instance, no one can just stop you and ask to verify your status in Arizona.  The law was carefully written to ensure that status verification is checked only after there is reasonable suspicion during contact with Police Officers.

For example, there is reasonable suspicion of illegality if you are stopped by the cops and the only means of identification that you have is a mexican driver's licence.  That constitutes reasonable suspicion and precludes profiling.  I doubt any Mexican/Whites/Black will be suspected of illegal stay in the country if they produce a valid Driver's licence. If they produce a Mexican identification as is common in Arizona and other States, common sense tells you that such a person must be here illegally and you can go ahead to insist on verification of their status.

This is what the law is all about.  However, those who thrive on racial politics like Obama, Al Capone Sharpton and the liberal Left see it as another opportunity to do what they know to do best - divide and conquer.
Thanks for educating me on this Tayo. People dont generally get all the information to make an informed opinion from the media.
Foreign AffairsRe: Arizona Immigration Law. Necessary Or Bad Law? by silentc(m): 9:20pm On May 21, 2010
Illegal immigration is not acceptable on any level. That is a fact.

But, a law that will target non-whites is discriminatory. It creates a state of "guilty" until proven innocent. It creates a state of segregation i.e "non immigrant looking" aka white and "immigrant looking" aka Mexican, Black etc.

I appreciate the frustration of people living in Arizona, but this is not the right way to tackle illegal immigration. France had (and in some shape or form still has) this mindset with regards to tackling immigration. In the past I have been stopped 6 times in 1 day by the French police because i fit the profile of someone who looks like an immigrant and maybe an illegal one at that (black). I had to move around with my passport at all times (If i was going outside the house).

This law wont affect the whites in Arizona. It will just profile the potential race that might be illegal immigrants. I wait to see if any white, blond hair/blue eyes male will be stopped and asked to prove his status.

I can understand the passing of laws that make it a duty for an employer to see some form of documentation (passport etc) before you can take employment. I can understand if you need to show your status before you can register a child in school, register in a hospital, get a drivers license etc. But a law that allows for police officers to stop and question your status is disruptive to the lives on innocent well meaning people.

This is just my opinion. I don't live in the US or Arizona so cannot be authoritative in my assertions.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Platinumk And Theseeker - Our (nairaland) Romance Flopped Because . . . by silentc(m): 10:13am On May 19, 2010
The ability to deduce is something inherent in all of us. If we meet someone who get angry easily, we would think "that guy too dey vex quick". If we know a girl at work that never talks or socialises we will think "that girl is shy or quiet".

Based on other posts in other topics of Theseeker/ThePelican, i can say that he is not 100% kosher. He comes across as fraudulent.

Platinumnk and her previous posts comes across as naive but well meaning (she has a good heart).

My deduction (which may be incorrect) is that Theseeker is a scammer who met a decent girl which he wanted to take advantage of for his personal gain (University admission in the US). I dont think he wanted to scam her out of loads of money, but to achieve his goal of getting a student visa to the US.

This is my opinion, if i were part of a jury, based on the evidence, this would be my verdict.

TravelRe: Nigeria Forget Entry To Uk by silentc(m): 2:50pm On May 14, 2010
Guys,

About 29 million people are in employment in the UK (http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=12)

Now about 6 million people are on benefits (job seekers, incapacity benefit etc.) and 2.5 million out of work thanks to the recession etc, Without going into statistics and analysis, I would say that is about 20% of people not working (if i assume that all 6 million people on benefits are lazy and not genuinely sick or cannot work for health reasons etc).

How can we make the general statement that British people are lazy if only 20% of them are not working? That is a sweeping generalization that can be likened to someone saying "all Nigerians are scammers" or "all immigrants are here to bleed the country" or some other generalization that we all do not agree with.

Snowdrops, they arent scrapping the points based system (they said so in their manifesto).

They are actually imposing an annual limit on Tier 1 and 2 . This is a modification to an existing bill that has gone through parliament etc last year. They wont need to go through the whole system like labour needed to do last year to bring in modifications to the points based system.

Trust me, it seems this is going to happen.
TravelRe: Nigeria Forget Entry To Uk by silentc(m): 1:51pm On May 13, 2010
They will also limit work permits (Tier 2) and Tier 1 visa per year (to the tens of thousand according to their manifesto).

This might not be a lot, but it will still be felt.

They know they need to be careful with students as Universities need the higher fees from international students. I think they will end the link between student visa and post study work visas also.

Dont mind Nick Griffin. He is an educated man and studied in Cambridge. He is just using the party (BNP) and the fear of people who are different to achieve his own personal political career and aspirations. Now he is trying to make the party sound like it is more respectable and mainstream i.e no more skin heads and immigrant/non white hating.

He is not a "buffoon" as he comes across. He is playing the game telling disenfranchised people what they want to hear i.e "your problems are caused by immigrants".

For you question, he claims he is trying to live his life by the prophet's teachings. There are hadiths (teachiongs of the prophet's lifestyle) that puts forward that he did get married to a minor. Also, a lot of this has sunk into the arab culture with no respect for women of any sort. Hence, a lot of ridiculous things are done in the name of what i spermitted, like the trading of young girls for marriage.

So when a set of people like some of the narrow minded northerners choose to idolize a set of people to live their lives by, even if the religious leaders do not directly influence it, they borrow a leaf from these crazy acts in the middle east, and back it up with religion.
Thanks buffox. That was enlightening.  I cant even comment anymore as i know how i would feel if the 13 year old was my sister.

Nick Griffin is a joke.

What is £50,000 X 180,000= £9,000,000,000

How much will that cost if he did that for 5 years? £45 billion. That is a quarter of the deficit. The UK need to reduce their deficit and they are expecting to spend almost 9 billion per year sending "non-white" back home?

The UK will be a laughing stock, financial market and otherwise.

Hahahahahaha!

I cannot understand this as it is driving me insane

Please, is there anyone here who understand the islamic faith and can confirm that marriage to a woman under 16 is allowed in Islam? I dont know, so would like to be educated.

If the answer is no, then this man is a disgrace and should not even be in power to lead people and he should be jailed.

If the answer is yes, then I am dissapointed that the Islamic faith officially allows such disgusting acts on minors. I have tried to avoid being judged or being prejudiced to the islamic faith, but if the religion supports this, then I think it is barbaric and disgraceful. Is that the reason why he pushed for Sharia in Nigeria? To justify these acts?

There are lines we should not cross even in the name of religion.

RomanceRe: . by silentc(m): 5:40pm On Apr 21, 2010
Your story is a little touching. It seems you really love this girl.

To make it work, you both have to give something. You need to spend more time going clubbing and doing what she likes and she needs to tone it down a little. That way both of you dont think you are loosing too much. You sound like a nice guy, but you also need to try and up your game. Go clubbing with her, let her dance her life away, dance with her a little, sit down and relax if you are tired and watch her dance.

Let her know that her reckless lifestyle will lead to her hurting you. I dont think she will want to hurt you intentionally, but it is like someone who wants to stop smoking. You do it gradually. I dont think going cold turkey will work.

Less clubbing for her, you guys should go clubbing together, do other things together. Show her love and be patient. When she finally outgrows this lifestyle she will love you more than you could ever believe, but be really patient with her. You both should agree boundries that wont be crossed (sleeping with other people, being drunk to stupor etc). She is 23 and is still young. Soon she will outgrow this phase.

One thing i know, good girl, bad girl, they all want to be loved (Even ashawo get guy wey she love. I dont mean your girl is a prostitute in anyway)

Hang in there and be positive.
PoliticsRe: This Is A Must Read About Nigeria From A Camerounian by silentc(m): 6:27pm On Apr 19, 2010
This article says a lot. I would encourage everyone to read it in detail and not be put off by the long paragraphs.

My two cents:
1. IMF/World Bank loans and their terms and conditions is the west's route to modern day slavery. I would advise everyone to take the time out to research what the IMF loans are and how they affect the development of any country. Especially when the corrupt president does nothing but pocket these loans. Everyone remember SAP (Structural adjustment programme)? IBB was the main killer to Nigeria.

2. Go and research on the term "Economic hitmen". Quite a few south american countries and african countries are victims of the IMF/World Bank financial domination. Read up on Omar Torrijos of Panama or Jaime Roldos of Ecuador.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but i know that there is more than meets the eye with what is happening in Africa/Nigeria. I am not foolish to pretend that this was one sided. We too have our hands in it. It takes 2 to tango but knowing what caused a problem is a big step in solving and clearing the problem.

The greed of the west and greed of our fellow brothers who ruled us created  this mess we are in now.

Sagamite:
Gbam!

Let me put a personal twist to that.

When I was younger and fresh from Naija, I was studious, straight boot, nice and courteous. Mate, it was a challenge to pull all those girls that caught my eyes. They all wanted the tracksuit bottom and trainers bad boys. I was really restricted to Naija girls from Naija and very few others born and bred in UK. They went for bad boys and scam boys that were using their time "working" (if you can call it that for scam boys) and making money to take them to clubs with nice cars. Any girl that I actually pull based on looks (I get that just a bit when I was young  grin) in clubs, would soon dump my bleeping arse when I tell her, naively oblivious to the consequence, that I was going to take the Night Bus home or coming to visit her using underground. Iya jemi ni kekere o (I suffered when I was young o). angry

After a few observations of the process, the first to go was the nice & courteous part. Girls (not women) don't like good boys. After years of "Jonesing", I switched kia kia to my talk what is in your dirty mind and it worked magic.  grin I stuck with my studiousness and straight boot though as I want a future.

Now I get annoyed when those same girls that have used their youth to date bad boys, are now ready to settle down and now see those of us that they ignored because we were studious and want to date/marry us because we are now eligible and have the right husband profile due to the dividends of the hardwork in our youth. Anuofia!
Man you are spot on! This is my personal experience too. Girls who kept on saying no to me while I was in University now keep calling me wanting a relationship and to settle down with me.

But on the flip side, some girls stick with their men through university and the guys dumped them after school when they started getting on in life.

Let me give you an example of an irreconcilable difference.

She wants children and he does not. She will never be happy in a marriage where she feels she has to give up something that is important and dear to her to make it work. He wont budge and she wont budge. If they divorce, that can be seen as an irreconcilable difference.
