CelebritiesRe: Lagos Government After Linda Ikeji Over Tax Evasion by silentc(m): 4:17pm On Dec 19, 2015
It is sad how people are reacting to this matter.

Linda's blog is a business. It generates revenue from advertisement. As such it is a revenue generating business and she needs to pay taxes to the govt. No questions asked. Same for land tax for purchasing a new house.

Is it fair that she is unfairly targeted because she is a famous blogger? Yes it is. But it is a double sided coin. She has been successful from her blog and as such she cannot expect to be treated like the common person. The same way we are targeting politicians at the federal level who have stolen less than those that steal at the LGA level. To whom much is given, much is expected.

The public made Linda Ikeji successful and now she has to handle one of the downsides of being successful by the public.

It is like celebrities that want us to buy their movies and all they are advertising and selling while being on TV all day long, then all of a sudden turn around asking for privacy when something personal happens to them. You have put yourself in the public eye, gained from it, so you should be bold enough to handle the effects of it.

Same for Linda Ikeji.

Please be advised that it is difficult for professionals to work in Canada if they are not schooled there. T
It is not an impossible task but if you are not well prepared, you will waste your talents and more. Please remember, with all the hype, Canadian economy is at par with California economy. Calculate your risks and plan well.
California's economy in 2014 was $2.2 Trillion and Canada was $1.8 Trillion.

California's population in 2014 was roughly 38.8 million people. Canada's population in 2014 was roughly 35.4 million people.

Canada is slightly larger than the whole USA (not just California). There is no hype about Canada. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. Comparing it to California doesn't make any difference to making a decision as to moving to Canada.
PoliticsRe: The Top 3 APC Presidential Candidates To Watch Out For! - CramJones exclusive! by silentc(m): 8:03pm On Jan 09, 2014
cramjones: 2. General Mohammadu Buhari - Need no introduction! He is indeed a man without any iota of corruption. He will cleanse Nigeria of the number one problem plaguing it - corruption. Buhari got nothing to loose, he has seen it all. He also has a "messiahonic" following in the North and with Nigerians, and will get us the numbers we need in the North. However, he has expressed his reservations running this time. But if the General so decides to run, we in the APC will support him!
Cramjones (FFK), please refer to the link below (which is your personal website). Please look at your own comments you made on Buhari.

http://www.femifanikayode.org./faq.html?_sm_au_=i5VZ62QF6w1SFMP5

If you cannot click the link, please see excerpt I am referring to below:

Question: What do think of General Muhammadu Buhari another former Head of State?
Answer:
It is not for me to judge General Buhari or anyone else as ultimately posterity and God will judge us all. Needless to say I disagree with General Buhari on most things but he is, nevertheless, a formidable adversary and a man of truth. He tells the truth as he sees it and no-one can take that from him. He is an honest man and fears no one.
My only concern about him is his constant recourse to religious sentiments in the political arena which is extremely dangerous in a country like Nigeria where about half the population is Muslim and the other half is Christian. As a matter of fact the largest concentration of both Muslims and Christians on the African continent (approx.50 to 60 million on each side) are in Nigeria so we have to be very careful not to set the country on fire by bringing matters of faith into politics. Apart from that there is also the perception held by many that he believes that southerners are somehow inferior to northerners. That sort of thinking is absolutely unacceptable and it surely has no place in Nigerian politics. Other than that I have nothing but respect and admiration for Buhari and let no-one fool you, he is very popular and very strong on the ground in the core northern parts of Nigeria.

I am not confident I can trust your opinions when you clearly have reservations on Buhari which you air in your own website, but seem to endorse right now. How will this man based on your own comments unite Nigeria?

Once again, I am not sure your motivation in airing your views to us here is honest. No disrespect to you, but i thought I should call you out on this.
RomanceRe: What Sort Of Devilish Wife Did I Marry? by silentc(m): 8:34pm On Jan 07, 2014
The issue here is that his wife does not respect him.

Each woman is unique and different and needs something in her own view which she sees in a man to respect him. It could be taking charge and being decisive in a crisis, providing financially, being caring or God fearing, making big sacrifices for her and the family etc. Each woman is different.

The people who advocate slapping some sense into her are actually trying to say some women need a man to stand firm with physical action. While some women disagree, I know women who say "I know I pushed it with my mouth but the guy has no guts to show that he is a man to even slap me to shut up". I ask them "what would you do if he slaps you". They say " I will shut up....he has shown he is a man"

Point I am trying to make is that every woman has what she needs to show respect. OP find what your woman needs and do it.

This could be decisive actions which make a strong point, it could be telling her you are ready to divorce and send a lawyer to her with the papers, it could be a "Sean Connery/James Bond" smack across the face etc. Key point is that you show you are a man in a way your wife wants to see it.

All women want to respect their men. Sometimes we men do not understand what our wives/girlfriends need to see in us to garner respect. Find it and do it.....and your wife will surely respect you in her words and actions.
PoliticsRe: My Stand On Who APC Should Field For The Presidency/VP - Femi Fani-kayode by silentc(m): 3:32am On Jan 07, 2014
cramjones: I am responding to you directly because you asked a very vital question. Yes, there have been corruption in all the governments you mentioned. However, GEJ came into power at the MOST prosperous time in Nigeria's history, he came in when Nigeria was exporting minimum of 2.5million barrels per day, with an international price of oil set by OPEC at its highest in the history of world. The money that have accrued in GEJ's government, no other leader, however long the ruled have seen it. At a minimum 2.5million X $100 minimum is $2.5bn per day. If you give the oil companies their 40% that comes to over $1.5billion daily. On the other hand in GEJ's watch a minimum of 300,000 barrels of oil are stolen daily. NEVER in Nigeria's history have we had such theft. This comes to about $300million daily going to a few individuals with state backing.

Now tell me, if Nigeria is really making all this money, is it justifiable for 112million people to live in poverty, or is it justifiable, saying we should leave GEJ because other governments were corrupt? I can tell you for a fact, NO PRESIDENT in the history of Nigeria, have gotten the kind of money GEJ has seen in his time as president. I will stop here.
Thank you for responding. I appreciate it. I am surely of the opinion that you are FFK as you did not respond in the typical manner i see here (with insults). While you have made valid points, I have to counter and say that the alleged money stolen is not for lack of wanting by previous governments. I do not believe that any other president in the past would have done different if they had the opportunity that GEJ has as per the details in terms of $1.5 billion a day. I honestly do not think any past and potential future president of Nigeria would not do the same.

As a matter of fact, I feel the reason why there is an uproar is because some people are upset as there is so much being stolen and they are not "getting a taste" so they form a group to oust the current thief.

I personally feel this whole discussion is a case of pot calling kettle black. I do not see any option (APC or PDP) solving our issues. It is sad, but this is how I feel. We have heard the same statements you have articulated in the past and nothing different happened when the new political party came into power. So why should it be different now?

I don't think one person can make a change in Nigeria. We need a group of people. A full wipe down from the top. It is surely hard to believe that APC with all the current and former corrupt politicians on its wings are the ones that can do that.

However, thanks for replying to me. I appreciate that.
PoliticsRe: My Stand On Who APC Should Field For The Presidency/VP - Femi Fani-kayode by silentc(m): 2:48am On Jan 07, 2014
cramjones: If some people had a scintilla of the kind of corruption that has gone on in GEJ's government, I don't think they will be saying "GEJ till 2019"! Just the share scale of monumental corruption that recently led a top New York banker to reveal to Ambassador John Campbell (former US ambassador to Nigeria) that there are at least 115 dollar billionaires in Nigeria. If only some had some of the insights we have on the Kind of corruption in this government. Voting for Jonathan is like voting for the destruction of Nigeria. ONLY if some knew, the share scale of corruption that even corrupt governors had to shout when they saw what was been stolen from the common wealth...ONLY if some knew....

APC is the best alternative for Nigeria...Death to PDP come 2015...GEJ will loose monumentally once we sort out our candidates rightly! I can assure you that...just watch and see.
Cramjones (this is a direct conversation with you), you come across as an intelligent man (who knows, you might be FFK). But you cannot look me in the eye (virtual electronic eye cheesy ) and tell me that your facts and data which you clearly have shows GEJ corruption is the worst of all presidents. Please review the billionaires and money stoles made during the IBB, Abacha, Obasanjo etc era and share this data with us all.

I am not saying GEJ is better, my point is that I do not want you (a clearly intelligent man) to pretend that GEJ's corruption is your reason for your passion on this issue. It is surely something else far from patriotism or the love of Nigeria. So please be honest with us as some of us are just as smart as you are.

Some of us are disconnected from the matrix.....some of us are at the fringes of the normal distribution curve (bell curve)

Reference: The South-South has produced the first President representing minority Nigeria, 3rd year into his tenure and people are speaking about Ijaw supremacy. Can you imagine. And what is the solution, Northern-Western alliance yet again. This has accounted for 95% of all legal and illegal presidential terms. You cannot solve our problems like this.
Thank you for this. As I was about to write the same thing. What Ijaw supremacy? Certain tribes feel they own the presidency of Nigeria. Northen president with a SW VP? LOL. Like they own Nigeria? It seems the Northerners and Yoruba's are upset that the SS have tasted power and want to hold onto it. Do they think the SS will sit back and watch? The SS produce the oil and want to take control of the resources. APC should wait until 2019 before even thinking of coming for the presidency.

Many people couldn't talk during the days of IBB or Abacha and now they seem to have found their voice.
PoliticsRe: President Goodluck Jonathan's Reply To Obasanjo's Letter by silentc(m): 11:31pm On Dec 22, 2013
OBJ should not be writing any letter with accusations to GEJ as he is guilty of all he has accused GEJ of. I am not sure if many people are familiar with the principle of "clean hands doctrine" in law (a rule of law that a person coming to court with a lawsuit or petition for a court order must be free from unfair conduct i.e have "clean hands" or not have done anything wrong in regard to the subject matter of his/her claim). This surely applies here to OBJ

OBJ cannot come with clean hands to be able to criticize GEJ. While the current president is not better, it is well meaning Nigerians that should criticize the current president.

Also, with regards to GEJ not writing this response, it doesn't matter. All presidents or leaders have press secretaries and their role is to write up responses. Even Obama does not write his speech or press releases. He does however highlight and endorse the content. So we should please drop the Abati related comments.

In my opinion, we have not had any decent president running this country for many many years and we are watching 2 sets of people struggle for power so as to destroy Nigeria further.
TV/MoviesRe: Who Is The Strongest 'Super Hero' So Far? by silentc(m): 9:26pm On Dec 05, 2013
I guess there is no single answer to this question as there is the Marvel comics world (Spiderman, Hulk, Iron man etc) and DC (Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern etc).

So when the OP says "strongest" what does he mean? i.e is he talking about physical strength (i.e who can punch the hardest, carry the heaviest object etc)? or who will win in a fight?

In terms of physical strength and the way the writers have written the characters consistently over time, Superman and Hulk would be the winners.

In terms of who would win in a fight, It would be Batman. The writers have written Batman to have an unequaled intellect. So he would out-think his opponent, outsmart them, figure out their weaknesses (even before the fight) and use that against them. Superman actually referred to Batman as the most dangerous person on earth once.

That is my own 2 cents on the matter smiley
Never, you can't use one leg in driving a manual car.
P-wiz, if you read what I wrote, you will see that i was referring to using one leg for the accelerator and brake with automatic or manual.

off course with a manual car, the other leg is used for the clutchhuh?
Car TalkRe: One Or Two Leg Driving For Automatic Vehicles? by silentc(m): 1:49pm On Dec 31, 2012
The concept of using one leg for the accelerator and break is that they both perform functions that relate to motion of the car i.e increasing or reducing speed.

The view is that this should be done with one foot so only one or the other is done at any point in time.

So with an automatic or manual car, you still use one foot for the brake and accelerator.
Christianity EtcRe: My Heaven Experience by silentc(m): 12:51pm On Aug 17, 2012
So i throw a question to all the people commenting here: What happens to the buddhist who was born in Tibet and lived his life according to the rules of Buddhism?

When he dies, does he go to this Heaven? Does he get punished for not being born in a Christian country? Or is it his fault that he didnt go and find Christianity, the only real religion out there?

What of other people in other religions that lived their lives according to the rules of that religion until they died? They showed love and care to all around them? So Gandhi will not be allowed to this heaven that many people here have dreamed of? Or the current Dalai Lama when he dies will not be part of heaven? These guys lived good lives and are surely not Christians?

Most people will respond to this with bible verses, but bear in mind that other religions have their own teachings and scriptures too. So which one is right and which one is wrong? Abi?

PhonesRe: RIM Retreats From Consumer Market After $125M Loss by silentc(m): 10:58pm On Mar 31, 2012
The responses on this thread goes to show why RIM is focusing on the enterprise market and less on the consumer market. The Blackberry was never a consumer market product, but it tried to go there and lost.

RIM started with an enterprise solution (BES - Blackberry Enterprise Server) for proving email to corporate devices (Blackberry handsets). The characteristics of the phones back then were driven by enterprise users. They provided a secure solution with features that suited the enterprise business (e.g the phone could be remotely wiped if lost etc).

Now, consumers are driven by a different set of requirement. The iPhones and Android phones have done a better job of hitting these requirements. No doubt.

The issue now is that the trend is moving towards enterprise users (businesses etc) who want to use the same device they use in their personal life for their business (to get email etc). The concept of BYOD (bring your own device) is growing in North America and Europe (and this goes beyond handsets, we are now seeing tablets and user's bringing their own laptops etc). Newer technologies are now allowing users to securely access their corporate environment (emails etc) with the users own device which they are comfortable with. Hence the drive of the iPhones and Androids in the enterprise market.

While RIM still has a good footing in the enterprise market (the US govt still has them as the only approved solution for email on handheld device), this will soon change based on the fact that BYOD will drive changes which will not be in their favour.

Yeah you keep living in your fairy tale world, no light, no road, ohh give me a break, what is good about this
Agiboma, it seems you are not happy in Nigeria. Life is all about choices and if you are not happy, then it would be best that you go back to Toronto.

I am sure you moved to Nigeria with your partner in good faith, but if you did it as a sacrifice, then you cant keep "complaining" about it. I am not saying you are not incorrect with regards to your observations about Nigeria, but I feel your tone comes across as bitter about your life in Nigeria due to your marriage commitments.

Look at it this way, can you say 3 good things about Nigeria? You are very articulate about the negative sides of the country. If there is nothing positive for you, then it would make sense to go where you are happier.

Who am i to judge you. . . . . i am sharing my opinion, but I may be out of line.

Try to put yourself in your husband's shoe and understand where he is coming from. I personally don't see an issue of you wishing your ex well, but he is an ex for a reason.

What is more important to you, maintaining a dead relationship with your ex or thriving well with your husband?

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-758548.32.html

Do you wonder why she is developing feelings for another man? I dont condone a man beating a woman no matter what, but i think she should end her marriage respectfully before moving on to another man.

While what she is doing is not right and she should sort out her marriage (ending it or solving its issues), i thought this fact might be useful as we give her advice.

This is being pushed by the IMF (see link below)

http://allafrica.com/stories/201112300791.html

Nigeria is a puppet to their creditors and the controlling interests at the IMF need to 'influence' the African debtors to suit their own economic plans (yes, the US is one of the strongest players in the IMF)

This subsidy removal is not only happening non Nigeria. Ghana and a few other African countries too.

Cameroon just recently devalued their currency, Nigeria soon.

All part of the stranglehold and 'conditions' of those IMF loans our greedy leaders pocketed and sold us out as economicalslaves of the western world. Debt is the new form of slavery.

Religion is just a way to control people and get them to adapt to living according to rules in a society. . . . .

Did we know or have Christianity in Nigeria 200 years ago? Wasn't it brought in by the British? LOL!!!!

So what happened to all the people in Nigeria practicing "other" religion before Christianity came to Nigeria? They will go to hell or God will forgive them when they diehuh

So what if I was born in Saudi Arabia. . . .grew up a Moslem and lived my life according to that religion? When I die, will i see Jesus at the gates of heaven to judge my sins? What if the Hindu religion is the real one and not Christianity? Oh. . . let me guess, other religions are fake because we weren't born and grow into those religions.

I can spend hours talking about this, but neither have the patience or time anymore as most people are fanatical about religion.

You are judging your half brother with your "Nigerian eyes". The western culture is ok with not "taking care of family". They expect everyone to handle their own business. So your half brother is not used to your demands for support.

I am sure you are aware of many celebrities who have siblings that are not well to do.

Also, your brother has no emotional tie to you as he met you as a fully grown man. The support you are asking for has to be developed over the years of growing up together. Being your brother doesnt mean he has to support you. You might be surprised to know that he might be showing more support (financial and others) to a friend he grew up with in the US etc.

Just try to see it from both sides. . . . . . .

TravelRe: Uk About To Axe Permanent Residence Permit For Legal Immigrants by silentc(m): 5:41pm On Oct 04, 2011
Debosky you have made valid points. But I have to say any changes to the immigration rules needs to be for new immigrants and not existing immigrants.

They should not change the goal post in the middle of the game. Every country has the right to modify immigration policies to suit their interest. I agree with this, but people who signed up for immigration policy A should not have immigration policy B thrust upon them.

If from today Mr X knows that coming to the UK on a work permit will not end in permanent residency in the UK, he can make a clear choice in moving himself and  his family to the UK based on the information in front of him.

If i get hired to come into someones home to mow their lawn and we agreed on giving me a glass of orange juice after cutting it and $50 and then I only get $50, I am well within my right to complain as this was not what we agreed on even though it is their home and their lawn.

Countries can do whatever they want. . . .retrospective immigration changes to laws is what i don't like.

Saying that, it isn't clear from the info i have been reading if this changes are retrospective.

I started following this thread from the beginning and was actually feeling sorry for the people that were scammed.

Then at some point my feelings changed. I think i too want to set up a well thought through scam to take the money of gullible and insincere people who want to travel abroad by all means. After hitting it big and making some cool millions, I will give to charity and my church to ease my conscience.

I mean, on this same thread, people are still believing that the "program" might be true and some are dropping their emails asking for info on how to travel outside Nigeria to be sent to them.

I realize that once you fall for a scam, you are most likely to fall further for it or fall for similar ones. Just like the white people who fall for 419 scams and still sell their house to pay for the new hurdle the scammer has put in front of them.
