Just because the fraudulent actions of Americans aren't publicized as much as that of Nigerians, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. How many Americans are claiming disability benefits when they can work? How many are receiving social security benefits for a child not under their care? How many are living together but still claim benefit as a single parent? Isnt this fraudulent also? Or is 419 or dating scams the only type of fraud? Or are some types of fraud more fraudulent than others?

Anyway. . . . like i said, if you dont know. . . .you dont know.

Cap28. . . . i think Kobojunkie is an intelligent lady. Unfortunately she applies her intelligence wrongly (in my opinion). In physics she can be likened to having magnitude, but no direction.

Not everyone can work for the secret service to know what is going on behind the scenes. . . . and if you do work for them, you cant share the truth of certain situations. Unfortunately, some people have to see facts before they believe (which is ok), but they also cannot piece information out there to see the big picture.

The dynamics of the politics of this world we live in is complex. . . . very complex and not a lot of people can understand it. Leave those who cannot understand. . . . .educate those who have a mind where they like to listen to other opinions.

First of all, the OP is the one in this situation and not his "friend".

He has already made up his mind and came here to convince himself that the woman is genuine.

People have given him firm and logical info that this is a scam and he chooses to not believe and "bow out" as he doesn't like what he is hearing.

Most scams have 2 sides to it. The victim always screams blue murder. . . . . but people do not highlight their greed (and not only financial greed) that allowed them to be scammed. Something is too good to be true and you jump on it and want to take advantage, get scammed and come out and cry you were a victim.

Oh well. . . .

I cant believe someone thinks Americans/Canadians aren't in to fraud? Wow. . . .i guess you don't live around them so don't know. Americans are involved in fraud ranging from the boardroom in corporations to people who take advantage of faulty cash machines that have a glitch and pay out with without debiting their account.

There are many ways to get his point across. If he is very angry, he can show how angry in more impacting non physical ways.

I agree that a for a married woman to laugh and chase a male colleague who hits her bum is definitely not a good thing. It doesn't show she respects herself. I would have expected her to have had a harsher reaction i.e tell the man off. . . . her mood should change and she should have clearly showed her anger at his action as the colleague was disrespectful.

After she does that, then her husband should/could step up and challenge the man as his wife has first showed she did not like what he did and he can step up to defend her honor. . . . .(and they say chivalry is dead?). Her husband cannot challenge the man for tapping his wife's bum if she giggles, laughs and chases the man around the car. It shows a certain level of familiarity between them that a married woman shouldn't have with another man. He should handle his wife in any other way but not hit/beat her. That isn't right.

As usual cap28 understands the implication of the effect of the IMF.

Please for those that have the time, please take the time to read up on the IMF. A good starter would be (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Monetary_Fund). Also take a look at the section that refers to IMF support for military dictatorship and see the different countries debt (including Nigeria) before the military dictator came to power and the level of debt when they came to power.

Off course this is a 2 way sellout. On the Nigeria side, our leaders are selling us out (they can siphon some of these cash to their fat swiss accounts), and also th IMF is also doing their part in offering these loans that put a country in deep debt. Debt is a way to control anyone or any country. The conditions of these loans are not good for the country taking the loan, these conditions (SAP as it was fondly called) have no positive contribution to the country in debt.

I am not trying to teach most people here how to suck eggs. . . . . but i want people to understand why one should be weary of the IMF. Their interest is not for the good of the nation. Published papers from them mean nothing, they will off course not highlight their real intentions.

On the flip side, if you reject the advances of the IMF, then the president gets pressured, sanctioned and kicked out or killed. Read up on the life of Omar Torrijos (Panamanian president killed in a plane crash in 1981) or the life of Ecuadorian president Jaime Roldos Aguilera (who dies in similar circumstances in 1981). This is not only happening in Africa. . , . .

We don't need the IMF to tell us when to devalue our naira. . . . . .

If you don't know what to do with money before you get it. . . . . .you wont know what to do with it after you get it.

I would assume that if the govt chooses to scrap PSW, it does so for new students from 2011 i.e students who are already studying in the UK get the opportunity to apply for PSW.

It would be unfair to have a retrospective law which affects students who are already in the UK before the law was passed.

Ogugua, I would say drop the issue. You have made some valid points and they are very logical points that havent changed through your argument.

Make your point and walk away. Off course there are alliances here. . . .that is normal (if the cap fits, wear it).

One thing i am not impressed with in these sections is the degeneration to insults which starts from difference in opinions.

If a pint sized man (lets say he weight 50kg) gets into an argument and hits/slaps a muscular larger sized man (lets say he weight 120kg) and they larger man beats up the smaller sized man, would we call it unfair?

We have 2 valid arguments here. . . . .  take boxing for example, there are different weight classes and as such fights are fairer (as people fight within the same weight class). So sometimes a man hitting a woman is not fair as there is the natural advantage men have over women.

On the other hand, we grow up to learn that men and women are equal and as such a woman who doesn't want to get beaten up shouldn't hit a man (as we are all equal). If she hit a fellow woman and gets beaten thoroughly we wont cry blue murder would we? We would see it is a fair fight.

I honestly don't know the answer to the question. . . . . I would confess that it is a tough one to call.
