Noel1: A great content alone won't get anywhere near google ranking without the required links.
Conversely, if you manage to gain links - albeit, deceitfully on poor contents and you see your contents stroll to the top, sooner or later your on page metrics being retrieved by Google analytics will tell the big G that something's wrong.
So, before you know it, google drops the page back to the non and replaces with a more quality one.
So, for a health seo you need both together....
Just my humble humble opinion! I rank first on Google for some keywords, two of them are even on Google's Knowledge Graph (referenced answer to its keyword search query) (everyone's seo dream) even without a single back link to those posts. |

Where are the charges? We read about the two guys arrested and jailed in the United States. The charges were well presented, with evidence of the amounts they scammed, how they scammed (wire fraud) and their victims.
Here in Nigeria, EFCC will arrest indiscriminately and tender Toyota Camry, laptops, and keyholders as 'recovered items'. Which court will convict these ones with such worthless evidence that don't prove anything? |

I think the original idea is that good content would ultimately be able to generate 'natural' backlinks.
But if you're talking about the SEO practice of fishing for undeserved backlinks here and there in order to fool Google and rank, then I believe good content trumps such backlinks anytime any day. |

Her calmness, timing, and execution was perfect, and besides she had the advantage of element of surprise (the robber didn't expect those moms to be armed). She knew there was no risk to the women and children if she hit the guy, and she did. Would have been more risky if she didn't try to demobilize the Armed robber. |

InvertedHammer: They may try but they can never stop internet scam as long as there are people out there still paying them.
Once people stop paying, it will die a natural death. Internet scam and armed robbery are inversely related. Increase in one yields a substantial decrease in the other.
In Nigeria, the end justifies the means. One can up it a notch by turning to philanthropy and all sins will be forgiven and even defended. Buy a car for the king. Donate money/building to the community. Give out cash to the poor and widows. Thereafter you are free to continue in your stock-in trade. The youths keenly watch all these and know that money is the king.
*/ This is very true in the case of Nigeria. I can't imagine how terrible the crime rate would have been without this yahoo of a thing that is undoubtedly the lesser evil. But that's not even my main issue. The biggest annoyance for me is that too many Nigerians are hypocrites. They commit all kinds of fraud and illegality in their various places of work and businesses, but yet they'll be the first to castigate yahoo boys. It's annoying when I think about it. |

Boss13: I’m shocked at the comments I read here. It definitely indicates that the Nigerian society has lost its value. I believe many of us do not understand how bad the effect of advance fee fraud is till you leave the country and probably identify yourself as a Nigerian.
Also, I don’t think the raid was randomly carried out. I believe the EFCC has been on the trail of the suspected fraudsters. It is also possible that some innocent persons might have been arrested due to intervening into police matter and that is a crime too, (EFCC v. Ricky Tarfa) comes to mind here.
My question is why do we support and promote crime? These Yahoo Boys/Men are a menace to our society. They are the misfit that should end up in prison. We need to build our morals and values and not support criminals. You think this illegal raid is a moral crusade? Are you not a Nigerian? You should know that these agents simply want to extort money and properties (cars) from these guys, so what's the point really? You think they are genuinely interested in fighting fraud? |

CoolAmbience: My brother, sorry I don't have the time for long epistles.
Civilized or not civilized world, one's lifestyle could be a pointer to indulgence in something illegal. And if turns out the person in question isn't doing anything illegal, he gets freed upon arrest and questioning. What's the big deal?
I have had reasons to be detained and questioned more than once, even outside the shores of Nigeria. Let me disagree with you that there is such thing as invisible source of income.
The current method being deployed to track cyber criminals cannot be said to be barbaric, otherwise you may have to proffer one which could be more efficient. I think that it shouldn't just end at criticism.
You are at liberty to understand my position however you deem fit but the fact remains that the security services have got work to do, and I do not think that they have contravened Nigerian laws doing this thus far. I never mentioned that everyone should be in Agriculture, I also mentioned the ever-widening Services sector as well.
Take it or leave it, government's responsibility is currently shifting from job creation to creating the right environment for businesses to thrive. People have to see and latch onto this in a way that helps them create wealth for the society. You're at liberty to hold whatever point of view you like. But if the security agencies have not started this barbaric and stupid onslaught by facing civil servants, government officials l, and salary earners who obviously live being their lawful and visible income, then you don't have any point. We see them everywhere. Someone claims to be a civil servant (retired or serving) or a bank or private company worker earning a certain amount, but he owns houses, drives good cars, and his children school abroad. How? Those are the people we should focus on, because there is already a clear disconnect between known income and lifestyle. That's why Nigeria is such a useless and primitive country filled with hypocrisy. You can't start with people whose income is not known and therefore their lifestyle can't be measured or judged. What ever rocks your boat, my opinion is fixed, and so is yours. Have a good evening. |
Crime › Re: EFCC Storms Club 57 In Lagos, Arrests Many Clubbers, Seizes Cars by Silvermoney: 3:08pm On May 11, 2018 |
CoolAmbience: The youths have to understand that we have moved on from the era of graduating and waiting for a job. This is not to say that jobs shouldn't be created by the public sector. However, government's responsibility lies more on creating the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
There have not been more opportunities than we have now. It's massive! That certainly does not include criminal activities of any form.
If a Ph.d holder, as you said, thinks N50k is nothing for him, he / she should take that bold step to create that job of his / her choice.
Millions of jobs have been and are being created in the Agri and Services sectors, from slashing rice import by about 40,000MT yearly and the emergence of more than 15 large-scale rice mills in three years to the resuscitation fertilizer blending plants.
All people need to do is, align with any these initiatives and create wealth for themselves and the society at large. So I have to be into agriculture business before nobody would question my source of wealth? The problem I have with this is the blanket and primitive generalisation. That doesn't happen anywhere in the civilised world. There's no such thing as suspected crime merely because of lifestyle. You have to get evidence of crime and prosecute accordingly. I stay in my apartment, hotel room, bar, field, beach or anywhere I like, with only my laptop and an Internet connection, and I earn far more than what many so called empty working graduates earn monthly. My goal is to earn $100,000 monthly - in excess of N30m every fucking month. Thousands of people earn that much on the Internet, a few even here in Nigeria, legally. And I will do this without having any 'visible' means of income. Times have changed, and paradigms are changing. Amazon is now the biggest company in the world, and it is an 'invisible' business simply because it is an Internet business. Not everyone would do the old fashioned grind in the name of having a so-called visible means of income. While it is true that most of these guys are likely fraudsters, that isn't my business. The government must find a more lawful and sensible way to catch them red handed while committing crimes or get evidence of crimes already committed and punish them accordingly. You can't arrest a young man because he is driving a flashy car or drinking champagne and then ask him to explain his source of wealth. That could be me, and my source of wealth is entirely legitimate but not 'visible'. And it is unfair and unacceptable to arrest me and ask me to explain my source of wealth because it is invisible (unlike agriculture or whatever). I will not. Kill me if you want, but I wouldn't explain jack, because I suffered to learn those secrets. I can't let out my hard earned wealth building information to primitive fools fools in the name of clearing my name from unfair accusations. Instead, you'd have to tell me my crime exactly, prove it, and prosecute me in court. Even if the useless judge is as primitive as the law enforcement agents, then let them all kill me. Very useless country. We have to stop supporting barbaric ways of doing things. The world is changing. |

Means you don't have enough posts on your blog yet. In my opinion, there's no standard definition of insufficient content. It depends on your niche and the originality or relevance of your posts. I got approved for Adsense with just 15 posts at first attempt. Maybe because my niche was somewhat specialised and my posts were entirely original.
I guess it might be different for entertainment and celebrity news blogs. Maybe you need at least 50 posts or more to get approved in that niche. |

There are metrics being used to check site performance online As at today naij is the 7th visitef website in nigeria. Apart from Google, Facebook, bet9ja, no other site receives traffic like them. If u talk about Google traffic they are the number 1 in Nigeria. I think their Facebook page is about 4million followers. . Now you really get my point. These metrics can be used to make enlightened guesses about their Adsense income, and I strongly believe the site is one of the highest earners in Nigeria, if not the highest. |

Lakeside79: Very true
But be aware naij.com is not a Nigerian company
It's owned by gentech partners in Ukraine they also own jijing the top merchant site in Nigeria
This is a lesson on how to run a website
Foreigners came to your own country and showed you how to sell online news not what nairaland is doing
Revenue from a website is generated via strategic upgrades and managed content not free for all approach
I know their top level managers on a personal level
Being the number 1 visited website in Nigeria is pointless without the commensurate revenue being generated
If I show you the quarterly earnings for naij and jiji you will keep for seun
Talkless of Linda ikeji
Smh I knew the site isn't owned by Nigerians. The day I found out I wasn't surprised. Nigerians are not really big business minded. In terms of Internet business, Seun and Nairaland is a good example. Konga is another. I wouldn't be surprised if the company is one of the highest earning Internet businesses in Nigeria. And best of all, they don't have to reveal their real earnings to anybody (not even the FIRS). It's a massive operation. I wonder how many writers they have and how they inculcate the SEO writing training in them. I really need their business model. It's fantastic. |
