It's a cause vs effect thing.
You guys love Nigeria and will die for her. dat is strange Because the igbos are the only ones I know dat constantly oppose oduduwa republic |
Politics › Re: The South West And Nigeria: A Call For Opinions by Simbrixton(m): 8:14pm On May 16, 2020 |
nijabazaar: Dear diplomat guy, you see exactly what I am pointing at.
The mere mention of Biafra will have palisades of Yoruba vagrants lurching for ur neck.
Diplomat, the yoruba want Nigeria, liked it as it is and will die for Nigeria even if it turns to a Zoo.
Let's all shun the pretence can u promote your biafra without blaming us |

nijabazaar: Mention Biafra and see hordes of hellbent Yorubas attack you.
I find it hard to believe that there is a strong willed Yoruba influential enough to convince his own people about the need for secession. I am most likely to get my Dog to talk than see that kind of Yoruba individual dude we support biafra |

Politics › Re: The South West And Nigeria: A Call For Opinions by Simbrixton(m): 7:38pm On May 16, 2020 |
diplomat058: More glaringly than ever, it has become a consensus across many divides in the country, ethnic, religious, class and so on, that Nigeria is plagued with such dysfunctional nationalism that the clause, "All is well" can conveniently pass for a legendary joke. From education, welfare, agriculture and other structures that form the major components of the basic Man, to such advancement projects as technology, sports and development, and the political architecture that provides a reflective coordination, the country's ranking has been despicable, to say the least, far below what is found in the ebb of the "right thinking" world.
Responsively, many identify several factors which they believe to be causal of these national anomalies. While some allege the incompatibility of the Nigerian Peoples, spurred by an age long culture of a repressive diversity and differing practices and orientations, others believe that, since the banes of national prosperity cut across ethnic and religious divides, we are better off, together, fighting these setbacks.
While some see these rots as systemic problems, calling for a thorough overhauling cum restructuring to allow increased devolution and regional self determination as thriving instruments of federalism, others understand the entity called Nigeria as a contraption, a product of a foreign conspiracy and a doom that must be outrightly terminated.
In Western Nigeria which is the Yoruba Mainland, various camps have been pitted against each other, to these ends. Some Yorubas are not really keen on Yoruba nationalist affiliations. They believe that the reasons for the current underdevelopment that the country is experiencing are a Nigerian or wholly thing, and that Yorubas may not fare any better in a separate country of their own; after all, we have many corrupt Yorubas in charge, here in the South West, stealing and siphoning the funds meant for the development of the Yoruba nation. Hunger, unemployment, dearth of infrastructure and many other negative indices of development are also registered in the South West, and are partly caused by the greed, resourcelessness and maladministration of those in power in the region.
Having explored these varying mainstream perspectives, the essence of this piece is to collect opinions on some salient emerging issues. These issues are matters arising from the present state of things, and they have been mostly contextualised in inquisitive forms. Some include:
1. What do we Yorubas really want? Is it Restructuring, Oduduwa or neither?
2. If we are to restructure, how do we go about it? Emeka Anyaoku, then Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations, once suggested that the present six geopolitical zones be made into federating units, with resource control and fiscal federalism. Do you agree with him?
3. If You, as a Yoruba person, want neither of Restructuring and Oduduwa, are you happy with the status quo? If "NO" is your answer, what other options would you recommend to salvage this sinking ship?
4. If the Yoruba nationhood is to be given a sovereign political expression, would you rather the new nation state is a monarchy or a republic? If Yorubas are to have a republican state, what happens to Ooni, Alaafin, Alake, Awujale and others? Are they to continue being, constitutionally, unrecognized as kings in a Republique, as it is now in Nigeria?
5. How do we ensure we are not creating another Nigeria? Do we go authoritarian to enforce discipline by imposing such capital reprimands as death on corruption and unauthorized outflow of our hard earned forex, or we simply continue the business of hailing and giving 'twales' to our highly esteemed kleptocrats cum politicians and their collaborators?
6. What happens to the other regions and what will our post dissolution relations with them be like?
Please, in a civil fashion, let the opinions roll in.

diplomat058: This is really saddening. To think that this self acclaimed Yoruba group is hard against the regaining of Yoruba autonomy from this contraption called Nigeria, baffles me a lot.
Apparently, Yorubas need to fight two wars toward our uplifting. First will be to suppress and disable internal saboteurs; the second will be to collectively face our external impediments.
I will be happy if the Yoruba nation becomes a sovereign nation state in my lifetime, and to this cause, I don't mind paying the supreme sacrifice if circumstances so demand. very disheartening mate |
