yemiade7: Adeyemi from Ibadan to Imo camp ? what is the State of the camp etc.. just need a heads up.. Detailed response will be appreciated. Tnx Camp is not the best. There are issues with water; light; food; even accommodation. There is no fence which means u have to shine ur eyes always and be ur own security. Also there are flies--loads of them including electric ant also known as skirt and blouse. It'd be best you go with an antiseptic and a mosquito net. any other questions? |

mandax: Yes, but it is very rare to get a bus from Southwest going to Umuahia through Orlu through Nkwerre to Umuahia. If there's one, it would be the easiest to take such bus and stop at Nkwerre. Bros with all due respect; that is the route the buses now take. I am serving in Ehime-Mbano which is not quite far from Aba and Umuahia. All the times I have gone to where I am serving; I have always taken a bus to Umuahia which always passes through Nkwerre and Orlu If anyone is in doubt; go to a motor park and ask before hand the route they take to Umuahia. But I'm very sure GUO motors (that is my preferred transport company) takes that route. I don't want us to confuse the new guys. But from what has been posted so far; it would be seen that going to Owerri before going to Umudi is a very wrong decision. |

mandax: Your alawee in Imo is beautiful accommodation easily available in rural areas. Hard to get accommodation in urban areas like Owerri and Orlu.
Coming from SW , easiest way to get to nysc camp at Umudi: take a bus to Orlu. At Orlu, take a taxi- about N70 - to Nkwerre. At Nkwerre, you can trek to Umudi nysc camp if you are sportive -about 15mins, or take a bike N50 to camp. A bus going to Umuahia would pass through Nkwerre. So I think Umuahia would be a better option. Remember that Okigwe road is the federal road that connects Imo to Abia state |

I'm sure you guys have read posts online asking you to come with 10 photocopies of each of your documents. That's total hogwash. That was applicable when registration was still analogue. Now that the registration in online, U won't need more than 5photocopies each per document. Make sure to go with 8passport sized photo (U wont use more than 4 for registration) All other items are discretionary (stapler, gum, white tops, shorts, insecticide, antiseptic, milk, beverage) |

INDESTRUCTABLEX: In essence, approach matters a lot. No go form boss enter kasala. Thanks U too sabi book. One final thing, shine your eye well in camp. Most of those that come to give lectures are scams. Try as much as possible to find out from working professionals the certifications that would be useful to you in the labour market. Belive me, those guys get sweet mouth. Also, gnld came to give us a lecture while we were in camp. So shine your eyes! |

INDESTRUCTABLEX: If the camp is dilapidated, can't guys complain? What are the implications of Corp members rallying round to make things right - chairs and make-shift shelter.
Besides, I read that villages walk into the camp freely as there is no fence. How true is this? When complaining; please talk to the camp director first. While we were in camp; our allawee wasn't paid on time and we complaine/protested and we were then paid. The guy that went ahead to snap our food and upload on Facebook was called out during morning devotion and disgraced. The camp director admitted that the camp wasn't the best in camp but he really made efforts to upgrade the camp by providing light; water and other things. However; he said that the camp was only temporary and a permanent one has been promised by the state govt. Also bear in mind that the state had of Nysc in Imo has been changed twice in the last 3months. SSO you guys would be interacting with a new person (female I suppose) who might not know the particular problems confronting umudi camp. My advice is simple; try adapt to the atmosphere and environment. The place can be interesting if you focus on the positives. My 2 kobo |

Dikechigozie: The camp is way way off the city center.owerri is moderately expensive and a fun headquarters too. The people are friendly. There so many tertiary institutions in owerr, -Futo -Imsu -Alvan -imo poly umuagwo -fed poly nekede the regard for Corp members is minimal the state is good for fun loving guys The respect is only minimal in places like Owerri and Orlu. I am currently serving in a village in Agbaja in Ehime-Mbano LGA. To say I'm very respected is an understatement. Once you realise that the igbos do not prostrate or bow when greeting; you are good to go |

To everyone posted to Imo; you are welcome . If coming from any where in the south western part of Nigeria; don't board a bus to Owerri. Instead; board a bus going to Umuahia. And alight at Nkwere junction. A bike of 100 would take you to camp from that junction. If you proceed to Owerri; you'll spend nothing less than 500 to get to camp. If you have further questions; please ask. Corper auno

When they are here, they are always happy and smiling and it could get emotional sometimes and they'd say all these sweet things but there is one moment I won't forget in a hurry, it wasn't even what was said. There was this kid, he wasn't doing well in his class and could barely read and write till he started coming to the library. He didn't have a good foundation so we went all the way back to the roots, we were patient with him and soon enough he picked up. Even his parents came to the school one day to know what changed and see the special library he always told them about. Then one day in the library he just came and hugged me and didn't want to let go. He didn't say anything he just held me." I read this more than once & each time, it almost made me cry... |

Kajiang02: Pls do not be ignorant on this. The results will be known and displayed at the polling unit after election exercise, so everyone has access to it.
The observers, polling agents all watch and take records during counting processes. It is a public thing.
I encourage everyone to do the needful and publish results as soon as they are counted and verified to avoid issues tomorrow.
#OurVotesCount Tweet I'm not saying people shouldn't tweet, update or post results online. What I'm saying is that those posts should not originate from election officials. For those thinking I'm doing ITK, lemme ask U this: As an election official, are U supposed to talk to journalists/media representatives while on duty? |
Politics › Re: Thread For Nairalander INEC Adhoc Staffs by simiolu1(m): 9:28pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
Chanchit: Come, assistant Jega, so far the result has been counted I can even show my face here and say it on NL cos there's no secret in it, everybody would watch while you count and even anounce before you announce, so what's the fuse, all this ITK people sef. U're putting the cart before the horse. If any1 wants to announce since U have given the result at the polling unit, let them go ahead. I repeat, as an election official, do not post election results online. If U think I'm doin ITK, ask ur SPO tonight or tomorrow morning before goin to the polling unit. |
Politics › Re: Thread For Nairalander INEC Adhoc Staffs by simiolu1(m): 9:25pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
Chanchit: Guy stop misleading people here, I'm not announcing the total result, I'm simply announcing the result of my ward which anybody can do since the counting would be done in the presence of everybody. anybody can announce the result EXCEPT INEC/election officials. Ur silence has been bought. If anybody wants to announce the results online, let it be the people who were there when U were announcing the results or the party agent of that polling unit and not U! |
Politics › Re: Thread For Nairalander INEC Adhoc Staffs by simiolu1(m): 4:31pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
bestestgirl: Are you authorized to do that? I have quoted the OP to make him realise that announcing results outside his polling unit is not allowed. I'm a P.O and in our training, we were warned against commenting or talking about election results that have not been announced to the public. So nobody is permitted to announce the results online. Doing so is putting ur PO in danger. |
Politics › Re: Thread For Nairalander INEC Adhoc Staffs by simiolu1(m): 4:26pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
Chanchit: This thread is for Nairalanders that have been selected to work as adhoc staffs for tomorrows election. I know we would be really busy tomorrow, but we can start by stating the areas we would be working, and maybe after accreditation, we can share pix and give situation reports, then do same after the main voting by announcing the winners of our polling unit. I would be working at National stadium as Assistant Presiding officer 1(APO1) it means I would be handling the card reader.
Best of luck! May the best candidate win! The result of all elections conducted in a polling unit assigned to you should only be amounced at the polling unit and at the RACO. After then, it would be announced by the State Collation Officer on AIR. Any attempt by a polling official to announce d result outside these places can lead to serious problems for the PO of that polling unit. Pls don't put ur PO into trouble by announcing results online. Thanks. |
