Politics › INEC deceived Ekiti electorate – APC by simpleseyi(op): 7:32am On Jul 07, 2014
The All Progressives Congress has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of deceiving voters in Ekiti State before the June 21 governorship which it lost to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The party, however, added that INEC had the opportunity of correcting its mistakes in the August 9 election in Osun State and urged the commission to ensure a credible election.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, also raised the alarm over the delay by INEC in distributing the permanent voters’ cards to registered voters in the state, warning that it might be a ploy to disenfranchise voters.

The APC said, “A few days before the Ekiti governorship election on June 19, INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, had told stakeholders that the commission would use colour-code ballot papers to ensure that ballots meant for one local government are not taken to another.

“However, not only did INEC not use colour-coded ballot papers in the Ekiti election, it never felt the need to explain its sudden volte-face. This is a blow to the integrity of INEC and we hope it won’t be repeated.”

It added, “INEC has been painfully slow in processing the permanent voters cards, and one can only hope that the electoral body is not doing this deliberately to disenfranchise voters, especially in opposition strongholds

"If INEC has no diabolical plan, then it should speed up the processing of the permanent voters cards. We say this based on the reported announcement by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State that whoever does not possess a permanent voters card will not be allowed to vote in the election.”

So, before the Buhari law, drug trafficking was legal and lawful?

slimyem: Good question!!

Inter-religious marriages should be a NO NO! They are usually disasters waiting to happen.
Cure your short sightedness, Fashola is a muslim while his wife is a christian (a Dame). Tinubu is a muslim while his wife is a RCCG pastor. I am a muslim, my wife is a christian. I and my wife are happier than Pastor Chris Okotie and his former Pastor (Mrs) wives. We have our own issues just like every other couples. Whenever I feel like, I drive my wife to church at Winners Chapel, Sango-Ota and stay inside the church till end of the service. That does not make me a christian. I can't be waiting in the car park because Daddy Oyedepo cast out demons and these demons run through the car park to the main road, if you stay in the car park, then the demons may enter into you and you become the devils agent.

Many muslim/muslim couples have divorced and many christian/christian couples have also divorced.

To put it quite plainly, one of those three Ogedengbe – was executed for a crime that did not carry a capital forfeit at the time it was committed...(WS). The execution of that youthful innocent for so he
was, since the punishment did not exist at the time of commission – was nothing short of premeditated murder, for which the perpetrators should normally stand trial upon their loss of immunity....(WS). Up till today he has shown no regrets about this his action and would do so again maybe in 2015 or after. Everybody saw what happened after the 2011 general election God forbid we will not witness such again.
The criminals were executed for drug trafficking. It is obvious that drug trafficking thrive in your own blood too. Go on continue drug trafficking, what happened to the three criminals is awaiting you.

Politics › Family Asks IGP To Order Inquest Into Drowning Of Patience Jonathan's Nephew by simpleseyi(op): 7:25pm On Jul 02, 2014
The Awin Family has petitioned the Inspector General of Police to order a full Coroner’s Inquest to establish the circumstances of the June 7 drowning of their son, 31-year old Christopher Onoriode Akpomowei Awin, in the swimming pool at Agura Hotels in Abuja. Christopher is a nephew of Nigeria's First Lady, Patience Jonathan

A statement by Festus Keyamo Chambers, on behalf of the family, pointed out that while post mortem has confirmed that if the victim had received help within five minutes of being submerged, he would have survived, enquiries have revealed that the guards on duty at the pool had at the time curiously left their duty post on flimsy excuses.

“Further enquiries also revealed that there was a busy Bar beside the swimming pool,” the petition said. “In spite of the expected attendant staff presence, the body of the victim was not found until over one hour after he had drowned.”

In the letter, dated June 26, the family urged the IGP to seek the Coroner’s Inquest in order to resolve various queries listed, and to charge all those found culpable to court.

Text of the letter:

Thursday, June 26, 2014

The Inspector-General of Police,

Force Headquarters,

Louis Edet House,

Abuja.

Dear Sir,

SUSPICIOUS DEATH OF CITIZEN CHRISTOPHER AWIN:

CASE OF CULPABLE HOMICIDE AGAINST AGURA HOTELS AND MEMBERS OF ITS STAFF

We are solicitors to Madam Esther Ebiere Gbonkumor and the entire Awin Family. They have briefed us as follows:

That on 7th June, 2014, their son, Mr. Christopher Onoriode Akpomowei Awin, a 31-year old Nigerian citizen, was invited to a picnic by the Ijaw Students’ Association of the University of Abuja as part of the celebration of their cultural week. That picnic held atAgura Hotels in Abuja. We were informed that sometime at about 4:00pm, the picnic came to an end and all the members of the Association left for the University of Abuja Campus and their various residences in Gwagwalada, Abuja. However, Mr. Christopher Awin stayed behind for some swimming exercise.

However, in a most bizarre twist of events, Mr. Christopher Awin was found drowned to death in the swimming pool of Agura Hotels at about 6:00pm later that day and officers of the Garki Division of the Nigerian Police were called in. A post mortem has been carried out by a certified consultant pathologist who confirmed that his death was as a result of drowning and further added that if the victim had received help within five minutes of being submerged, he would have survived.

Our enquiries have shown that there were two life guards on duty at the pool who curiously left their duty post on flimsy excuses. Further enquiries also revealed that there was a busy Bar beside the swimming pool. Inspite of the expected attendant staff presence, the body of the victim was not found until over one hour after he had drowned.

The queries that arise from the foregoing set of facts are as follows:

1. Why did the life guards charged with the sensitive responsibility of safe guarding guests abandon their duty post for so long?

2. Why would the Agura Hotels leave a guest in a public swimming pool unattended to for so long?

3. Was there no bartender at the Bar adjoining the swimming pool for so long a time?

4. Why did the Police hasten to reopen the swimming pool (as a crime scene) that was initially sealed for investigations?

5. Why has no member of staff of the Agura Hotels as well as the Agura Hotels been charged for culpable homicide till date?

We are respectfully inviting you to employ your good offices in ordering a full Coroner’s Inquest for the purpose of resolving the foregoing queries and charge all those found culpable to court.

We repose confidence in your good offices and thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.
Head of Chambers

Politics › Bill To Regulate Religious Preachings Sparks Uproar In Niger State by simpleseyi(op):
There is uproar in Niger State following an Executive Bill sent to the state House of Assembly for the regulation of religious preachings and establishment of places of worship. At the public hearing held at the state House of Assembly in Minna, the state capital, yesterday, all the 16 religious leaders who spoke on the matter vehemently opposed the establishment of the law.According to them, the law would be contrary to the 1999 Constitution which gives people the right to expression, freedom to association and religion as it is in Christianity and Islam. Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the state, Rev. Musa Dada, said many of his members were not adequately informed about the bill as well as the public hearing.

CAN further said the passage of the bill would lead to crisis instead of bringing religious harmony among the people. Also, Rev. Echioda Mathias, who also spoke in the same vein, said the proposed Bill was not a child of necessity, adding that it was a ploy to contravene constitutional provisions through curtailment of the freedom of worship by Christians in the state.
He said: ”The provision of the proposed bill is a direct provocation of not just the Nigerian Constitution but also our Christian faith. It is our dogged stand, prayers and wishes that this bill or any other bill like this should never be proposed in this state or country again, much less its passage.” He noted: ”We strongly submit without any doubt of contradiction that the title of the bill is a misnomer. The title is an irony of its purpose. The CAN will never stand aloof to watch our inspirational mode of worship and divine style and places of worship or centres being regulated by persons with little or no knowledge, inspiration from God Almighty.”

Leader of the Ahalil Sunnah Jama’at, Mohammed Usman also objected to the passage of the bill in its ramification on the ground that it contravened the Sharia law and the 1999 Constitution as amended. According to him, “the bill is in violation of the Holy Koran. The bill is also in contradiction to the provisions of 1999 Constitution. It goes against the fundamental human rights. Our religious freedom should not be abridged due to insurgency and terrorism. We object entirely to the bill and pray that Allah guides the nation as we pray for peace and stability in the country.”

Also, Dalhat Abubakar Hakimi, who represented Isalah Jos in the state, said there was no need for the bill because both Christains and Muslims have been relating well in the state. He said rather than introducing a bill, government should inaugurate a forum for religious leaders to meet regularly and take a decisions that would enhance peaceful coexistence in the state.

Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Mr Adamu Usman, urged the two religious bodies to see the bill not as an attempt to gag their religion but to regulate the excesses of some religious leaders.”This bill is not a private bill but an executive bill. It has nothing against Christianity or Islam, it is a liberal bill. We do not have a predetermined mind. If we do, we would not have been having this sitting,” he said.

Now that we have great leaders like our president, vice president, some of our governors, etc, Nigeria has been heading towards massive reforms for our general good.

Leviticus 24:10-16 - Punishment for Blasphemy

10 Now an Israelite woman's son, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the people of Israel. And the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel fought in the camp, 11 and the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the Name, and cursed. Then they brought him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. 12 And they put him in custody, till the will of the Lord should be clear to them.

13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 14 “Bring out of the camp the one who cursed, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. 15 And speak to the people of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. 16 Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.
