This is a man standing trial for supporting Boko Haram. Ordinarily, he should have been under suspension until the determination of his case. |
It's a pity that a lot of us don't know the implication of duping people. These fraudsters will surely pay heavily for defrauding others. Whatever you sow, you shall reap in multiple folds. |
I wouldn't be surprised if some corrupt state governors gang up and head for the courts to challenge this courageous move by the FG. All in a bid to cover up their dirty tracks. The case will then drag on and on, forgetting the fact that the governors are doing worse to their local council chairmen. |
A spin indeed. |
Another in the series of delay tactics |
Not looking like Nigerian Army soldiers to me. |
This looks more like Babagana Kingibe to me. |
I was waiting for these types of news from the Northern states the moment the FG announced 13% derivation for the solid minerals producing states. I'm sure that the mineral did not emerge overnight. Hypocrisy of the highest order . |
Where are these human rights people, both local and foreign? These officers and men have families and dependants, yet their lives were cut off midstream by these ND miscreants while performing their official functions. Their patrol van was taken away with their weapons. A similar misdeed in the area led to the reprisal killings by the army in Odi almost two decades ago which generated a lot of hues and cries from various human rights groups. I pray history will not repeat itself. |
I've observed, over the years, that the Boko Haram insurgents get infuriated whenever the FG claims that they have been defeated. They tend to re-group and wreak more havoc on hapless citizens. |
This is the reason why I always quarrel with these so-called Niger Delta militants blowing up national assets claiming marginalisation, under-funding and neglect of their people. Its quite obvious that its not a matter of neglect and under-funding as claimed but they are being short-changed continuously by their leaders. In my own opinion, the FG and the multinational oil companies are doing their best through several interventionist programs like-scholarships, amnesty payments, 13% derivation, foreign training, NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta, various Niger Delta states' oil producing areas development commissions etc. but their state governments and their leaders have devised various means to short-change them by cornering most of the funds but instead of taking their leaders to task on these issues, they always attack the FG and blow up pipelines thus polluting their areas the more. The expatriates employed by the multinational construction companies in the area are regularly kidnapped for ransom, driving up the cost of doing business. Most of the oil companies in the area are either moving far off-shore or closing shop. Even the FG is planning to pipe crude oil from Niger Republic in order to feed the Kaduna Refinery. |
Gov Wike should better watch his back. Just behind him are policemen whose boss he's accusing. A stray bullet from an unknown policeman will silence him forever. |
Upon all the contestants, this guy stood out, he is not a professional politician. His consistency and integrity speaks volume. He's unlike others jumping from one party to the other all in desperate bid to pull wool over our heads. Olusola Oke would have stood a good chance if he had remained in the PDP having done exceedingly well in the last governorship election. It was his ill-advised defection to the APC, AA and later AD that gave room for a rascal like Jimoh Ibrahim to fill the vacuum. Having won this election convincingly, I urge the governor-elect to make peace with his colleagues in the APC, particularly the co-contestants in the primaries most of whom remained in the APC but assiduously worked against his interests in the just concluded election. He should also reach out to Asiwaju B.A.T. who remains his benefactor. He should bear in mind that Ondo state people cannot be taken for granted any longer, hence he should ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the nooks and crannies of the state. Four years are just around the corner. |
Yeah, asking the cat to guard the meat. |
He will be offered the position of one of the outriders in the governor's convoy |
The impression being given here is that hotels are no -go areas for Christians under whatever guise. This is cannot be correct. Hotels are public places designated for relaxation, accommodation, reception etc and I doubt if those things are sinful in nature. Many visiting evangelists are lodged in top-notch hotels to give them enough comfort and privacy needed for their mission. So, I see no reason why Christian worshippers cannot make use of the place for religious purposes. |
Our political culture in this part of the world is weird. Why should our own democratic principles different from that of the Europeans and Americans we claim to be copying? I've never seen a Labour Party politician jumping ship and joining the Conservatives or UKIP in the UK or a Republican defecting to the Democratic party in the USA. Why are we always jumping up and down from one political party to the other? In whose interests? |
I noticed that almost all the economic eggheads listed in the team are from the south. But if Buhari wants to make political appointments, he reseves those for his own people even if they are less qualified. |
I'm presently handling a case involving one of my clients who has similar issues with this AIMS Assets Management which claimed to have invested about 500k belonging to my client in this self same Petdrill. My problem is how to even locate their current office as several letters sent to their given addresses in major cities across Nigeria are returned for the fact that the company has relocated. Their phone lines are not functional and emails are not answered. |
The father of the deceased gallant soldier get mind sha. To attend the burial of his son is not easy. Maybe it's because the father was also a soldier too. But in Yoruba custom, it's a taboo. |
Patience Ozokwo..... |
Eyitayo Jegede is a good man but Mimiko is a huge liability to him. Jegede should bid his time for he has a bright political future ahead of him. Mimiko, the master dribbler has beaten himself into a dead end. My only advice to Mimiko is to use his remaining months in office to renovate a section of Olokuta Prisons, Akure and shouldn't even wait till the handing over date in February 2017 before putting himself in handcuffs and reporting there. |
We Nigerians should learn to read between the lines. The persons named in this story are planning to get papers to travel abroad and they want to hide under the cover of being persecuted here in Nigeria as being LGBT, hence the story which I strongly believe, has been planted and given wide publicity so that embassies of the lenient countries could take up their cases and give them travel papers as endangered species. Come to think of it, does our police give a damn about such things when there are many other unsolved crimes all over the place? Who is going to be the complainant? How is he going to prove that the ladies are lesbians except where he was present when the girls were doing the act? |
All over the world, I have never seen these Islamic terrorists building any single structure from the scratch, complete and commission it for use of the people (at least to gain more followers and sympathisers) but to plunder and raze existing structures some of which date back to ages past. From Mali to Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Syria etc. What do they stand to gain if the whole world is bombed and left in ruins? Even in areas they have succeeded in conquering, the people therein are always looking for means to escape their brutal ways of life. Should that not be a pointer to the fact that they are not wanted? |
A re-alignment of political forces in the south west is gradually taking place. Something fishy is about to happen. |
In serious countries, the pictures and other details of the escapees would have been in full circulation (in our major languages) in all the print and electronic media all over the country, INTERPOL would have been notified, the whole area would have been in lock-down, roadblocks mounted and leaflets distributed to the masses to be on the look-out for them. But what did we find? The Prisons authorities denied that a jail-break had taken place when the news first broke, now they are dealing with their officers. With the way this issue is being handled, they are encouraging more jail-breaks. In actual fact, the way our security apparatus is configured in this country, we are encouraging people to commit crime because there is no deterrent factor. Potential criminals should always think thrice before committing any crime because it should be made known to all that criminals can only run but not hide from the long arm of the law. |
It is not an impossibility. We can achieve even more by that time if the present momentum is sustained. The period between 1980 till 2000 were wasted years for Nigeria. Our leaders in those years failed to set the nation along the right path economically, the enormous resources at the nation's disposal by that time were frittered away while the other peer nations at that time like China, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, Pakistan etc took the bull by the horn and they are better for it today, some are even nuclear powers now while Nigeria is still lagging far behind. But I'm pleased with the way we are now trying to put things in order and I'm very positive that we will take a giant leap forward in terms of power generation when the present power projects fully come on stream. My only worry is the nefarious activities of the Niger Delta militants that who are hell-bent on neutralizing our little achievements in the power sector. Blowing up our power generation infrastructure and kidnapping the expatriates working to lift up the sector is counter-productive and should be condemned by all. |
And so what? I also packed refuse this morning too, chickena. |
Sugarcious:Though you have raised valid points, but this programme has the backing of the World Bank itself. You see, it has been realised that mal-nutrition in children is a major problem we have in this part of the world including India with its resultant effects of high child mortality rates, stunted growth etc. So if our children in school eat at least one good meal in one day, it would go a long way in solving many unnecessary health challenges, stimulating school enrollment and relieving the parents in no small measure. Not only that, it also has multiplier effects in stimulating agriculture, creating jobs for the caterers and their assistants. We are always quick to use the western world as reference points, yes, but each of these nations have devised safety nets in order to ensure that their citizens (not only vulnerable children) do not starve. There are many places that poor people can go and have free hot meals anytime of the day. Some even give cash handouts to the unemployed. So this appears to be a step in the right direction. |
Amnesty International should be transparent, unbiased and balanced in their reports. I'm surprised that the body failed to mention the fact that the IPOB youth went on rampage killing policemen and dumping their bodies into the River Niger. I'm sure no responsible government would fold it's arms and watch it's authority being undermined by irresponsible elements. Where was Amnesty International when the same elements attempted to take over the government house in the same zone by force of arms? Where was AI when Radio Biafra was churning out hate messages against the government and people of Nigeria? |
Most times when I board commercial vehicles, I always ensure that I sit where I can monitor the driver (whether dozing or not) and the speed. I don't sleep until I get to my destination. But what intrigues me is that most if not all the passengers sleep off the moment they are seated. This gives the driver the opportunity to drive recklessly. I've noticed that drivers are more careful when they know that (most, if not all) their passengers are fully awake. Another issue is that whenever the driver is either over speeding or driving recklessly, instead of all the passengers to join hands in keeping the driver in check, some would be supporting the driver asking him to ignore the complaints saying they have urgent appointments to keep in their destinations. Some even go to the extent of labelling the complaining passengers witches or wizards. Thus encouraging the errant drivers to continue in their nefarious actions. |
We are having this problem just because our local refineries are not working. At least if they were working, there wouldn't have been any need to import refined fuel, we could have even been in a position to export both crude and refined oil. But what continues to baffle me is that a cabal is determined to keep us importing refined oil by continually sabotaging our pipelines, flow stations, refineries etc thus preventing us from refining locally for many years now. Which means that this well-oiled cabal is benefiting massively from our continued dependence on imported fuel. This cabal has off shore refineries which would have been out of business if our local refineries were functional. We have already seen that some of the so-called importers simply submitted bogus claims to the GEJ regime for fuel that they did not import and they were paid. This money has not been recovered. Yet, they still continue to hold the entire nation to ransom. |
