It's like moin-moin is now the latest object of attack. Is it not yesterday that the whole Minister of Agriculture cried out loud over same? |
My brother. I'm in the same profession with you but now with more than 15 years post-call. You don't have to despair yet. It's always rough at the beginning. Since you already attended law school, I'm sure you must have done chambers attachment at a law firm prior to your call to bar: why not return there for proper exposure? Just tell the owner of the chambers that you are just there for necessary experience and not for pay. But don't worry, he will be giving you little jobs with something to keep yourself afloat for the time being. From there, you may start to build your own clients base. Ensure that you follow him to court and open your eyes. At the Notice Boards of various courts, there are always vacancies for lawyers posted there by law firms. Also relate well with your local branch of the NBA, tell them that you are open for employment, I can bet it with you that they will find something for you within a week provided you demonstrate your seriousness and competence. Also, try to prepare bail bonds, letterhead papers, complimentary cards etc in your own name with your phone number, contact address (even your residential address is acceptable) and your email along with your stamp and seal. Then you are good to go. I hate to say this publicly but I have no choice, try and be visiting Magistrates / High Courts in your area and let the judicial staff know you. Let the policemen in your neighbouring police station know you. You will be surprised with the way they will be channelling briefs to you. Don't focus too much on money now. Instead, focus on increasing your knowledge and experience and clients base, these will surely bring in the money in due course. God bless you. |
I can spot the babe posing with the Queen in the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th pix is wearing a Grail Cross. |
It's like Dubai is the new transport hub for drug business these days and I often wonder how our people manage to slip through their very tight dragnet in Dubai only to be detected here. Also our NDLEA needs to find out the particular individuals in Dubai that are sponsoring this illicit business. |
By allegedly begging the judge, it appears that Saraki is somehow aware that the Ruling would go in his favour if it had been delivered. It also suggests that the judge and the Ruling must have been compromised. |
Sponsored move. We should all read between the lines. These people are being sponsored by their paymasters who may be politicians who have been affected by the dollar policy of this government. They want to intimidate the government to relax the rules to their selfish advantage. There is no foreign airline that is not making bumper profits at the expense of Nigerians. Why not stop flying into Nigeria and see who will lose out? |
Those Aba tailors are so innovative and trendy. I work in organisation with over one thousand staff here in the South West and i can boldly say that those guys supply about 90% of our clothings. I think they should be encouraged to export their products abroad, especially the West African sub-region at first. |
Collaborations (i.e. collabos) have become the in thing among musicians all over the world. Hardly can a single musician produce songs alone these days without featuring other musicians or the song being re-mixed by his counterparts. I often wonder who among the Nigerian musicians has the highest number of collabos either with local or foreign counterparts? In my humble view, I think Davido should lead the park followed in that order by Olamide and Phyno. To the best of my knowledge, Davido has collaborated with the following musicians: Humblesmith, Meek Mill, Mafikozolo, Kiss Daniel, Diamond Platinumz, Uhuru, AKA, Naeto C, Shina Rambo, Ice Prince etc What's your view on this? |
I don't think its highly unusual. I remember when Ipad Air first came out, I asked a friend in the UK to line-up and get it for me. After we had agreed on the mutually suitable exchange rate, I gave the money to his family members here as agreed and he duly sent it to me via DHL. He then sent me the tracking number and I was monitoring the package till it reached Lagos. DHL then informed me by mail that the package was intercepted by our Customs & Excise for duties which they had paid on my behalf. They sent me a scanned copy of the payment schedule and I was asked to refund them before my package would be handed over to me in Akure. I duly paid into their official account and i got my package. |
This is very serious |
What part of Ekiti State is Sade Adu?[/quote]Sade Adu is from Ikere-Ekiti |
With this latest development, I think our dear Manu Garba should be redeployed to the Golden Eaglets to start grooming another set of World U-17 Champions. Manu Garba's U-23 boys have been taken over by Coach Samson Siasia for the forthcoming Olympic Football tournament. |
Please OP, I know u may not want to disclose the kind policeman's phone number but please help find out from him if he was the same Billy Joseph that was once my acquaintance at Owo Police Division, Ondo State. Thanks. |
That's the problem with our entertainment people in Nigeria. They always like to fritter their earnings on frivolities only to turn around to beg for money when they run into hard times. |
I am of the view that Mr Yinka Odumakin should be given ample opportunity to defend himself in view of this weighty allegation. |

My people, I think we should all pause and look beyond the militants as the sole perpetrators of the pipelines vandalism. I strongly suspect that some oil importers and marketers could be involved too. Now that our refineries are gradually going back to life, and the refineries are dependent on the network of pipelines to survive, its quite obvious that these marketers are gradually going out of business. These people have never hidden their determination to sabotage our pipelines and other oil facilities in order to cripple our local production and make room for the continuous importation of refined petrol. |
Korede Bello, how far nah? Where are you? Another uniform don land o make you come test am quick, quick. |

An Akure based legal practitioner-Mr. Adesoji Adedeko was alleged to have been grievously brutalised last Thursday evening by the men of the Ondo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps who allegedly invaded his residence around 10pm last Thursday 21st January, 2016. The lawyer was alleged to have secured bail for one of his clients in a matter being handled by the NSCDC in Akure but, according to the NSCDC, failed to produce the client when required to do so. Hence, the officers and men of the NSDCD allegedly invaded the lawyers home in about 15 trucks around 10pm, rough-handled him in the presence of his wife and kids and also threw him down from his storey building, in the process the lawyer was severely wounded. This incident is presently generating a furore with the legal and security circles in Ondo State to the extent that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) -which is the umbrella association for lawyers, has vowed to ensure that the incident is thoroughly investigated and the officers involved brought to book.

This is a laudable step in the right direction. The impunity with which our police officers go about the issue of bail and ancillary matters is baffling. As a lawyer, I find it very frustrating the way our police officers would just arrest and lock up suspects in the cells and wander away without first taking their statements. All in a bid to extort bail money from the suspects or their relations. I`ve had the privilege to experience how the police go about their duties in other saner climes. They may invite you for questioning, grant you bail while they pursue further investigations until they are convinced of your culpability, it's then they arrest the suspect and charge him to court promptly. But unfortunately, the reverse is the case here in Nigeria. Our policemen first arrest you, lock you up for days while they look for means to nail you at all costs all in a bid to extort money from you. I therefore urge our police authorities to go a step further by establishing a Police Complaints Commission with offices in all the state capitals in Nigeria. It should be headed by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) chairman, with members drawn from the Civil Society Organisations, National Human Rights Commission, retired police officers etc. This Commission should be charged with the responsibility of investigating all complaints from the general public against police officers and also mete out appropriate disciplinary measures. |
We should all bear in mind that there are many judges that are already serving the nation in several divisions of the Federal High Court across the nation. Some states have already been adequately represented, so there may be no reason for such states to benefit from the present appointments. |
I rejoice wth u. But softly, softly o my dear sister. The Yoruba people have a saying- Bi isu eni ba ta, a nfi owo bo je ni. |
Name checkers, over to you. |
Coupled with the MRI scan, Nigeria has in the past few years ensured that players who have already played for or registered with football teams in our leagues are ineligible for the national U-17. You will observe that most, if not all the players in the World Cup winning team emerged from one football academy or the other. Also, during the screening process, a player has to bring along his Senior School Certificate which would provide a good clue in acertaining the correct age. I remember very well that during the screening process for this team, some promising players had to be either decamped totally or moved to the National U-20 camp because of age related issues. In my humble view, I think that our NFF has done well in ensuring that age cheat issues are totally minimised in our national age-grade teams. What we need now is for us to proffer other means or options that can enable us to build upon the other measures we already have on ground instead of casting aspersions on our hard won victory. |

So it's no longer Israel? Maybe Syria is next. |
Wike as a lawyer should know better than making this wild and unsubstantiated allegation more so as he is planning to appeal to the higher courts. I don't think the Judiciary should take this lying low. He should be made to prove the allegation or be ready to face the music so as to serve as a deterrent to others. Real lawyers are circumspect and not flippant. |
Pure lie. Iranu, abasha. Plenty of nonsense. |
