Why has testing/cases dropped in Kano? Did they manage and find all the people infected? These are the things we need on their press briefings. We need more local breakdowns of these stats

COVID-19 in Nigeria is a scam. If you doubt read Prof Ayade's comment on the virus or follow up the case in Kogi state.

Then I give it to Nigeria for making a well planned scam Seriously we deserve it. BTW do you know the only official covid test in kogi was done on the governor . If he was so sure it's a scam Or he doesn't want to spend resources to carry out tests. Only way for kogi and C/rivers to have a chance of zero cases would be airtight borders which definitely isn't happening.

While I'm saddened about what's going on in America, they should gear up for another wave of the virus. It is what it is. The issue in Nigeria is that they didn't really utilize the lockdown and it's now government is thinking about reducing the strain

Covid-19 is a viral strain.


That means, it has no cure per se, but the virus will weaken your immune system such that if you have underlying illnesses or diseases, they will quickly overwhelm your already weakened immunity.


That's how viruses work.


You have to boost your immunity, treat underlying illnesses and wait for the virus to run its course, once its lifecycle has run its course, it dies off by itself.


That's why a lot of people who have it are asymptomatic. They don't have underlying symptoms and their immunity is quite strong.


Also, the reason why it seems to be milder on Africans and less so in the West is that, our pattern of feeding is quite different.


While the average white person living in these western countries stuff their guts with processed food, junks and most importantly GMO, Africans feed directly from the soil.


And our food here is non GMO.


So, in actual fact, out immunity might be way better than that of the oyinbo man.

Bro you are funny like NCDC, there is no case in kogi state for now, it might be later but now, why do they want it be all states of Federation, even in China where this disease came from, it is not everywhere in China, even in USA and Italy where people were badly affected, it is not in all the states.

Leave china alone . We know how they are with revealing true information. Covid is in every state in the US just that some places are hit harder than others, go check. As for why it'll spread round the federation? How did states other than Lagos, Fct, Ogun get it? Through traveling and commuting between states which was and is still ongoing. So the only way for Kogi not to have a chance of recording covid would be sealing its borders airtight which isn't the case . The governor doesn't believe covid yet the only official test carried out in the state was on him .

Why in the last 2 months haven't we heard of mass death in kogi as we have in USA cos they aren't even testing.

I believe there is COVID 19 in Europe and America, but in Nigeria it more of politics of "lets share the money" than actual cases of COVID 19.

And back to Kano not number not going up, test in Nigeria is not done for everyone but for people with symptoms, so population does not matter, china has over a billion people and had only about 80k case, us has 300mill and has almost 2mil cases, so what does that tells you.

Now let's go to what govt is gaining from covid cases inflation..the economy is in disarray, these so called politician that you think love incrementing the number can't get out of the country to go and enjoy their money, their local business are hurting cause or the economy downturn.... everyone is losing in this way against corona.

They know how ignorant the society is and the stigmatisation that may follow.. The tests cannot be manipulated by anyone. I've former colleagues at both NIMR and 54gene and I'm a microbiologist. These analysts overwork themselves and report what they see. Let's stop all these please..Imagine sacrificing your rest period for overtime in the Laboratory and you hear people calling the figures a scam.
We are killing the spirit of the frontline workers. The government partnered with 54gene and Lifebank to conduct these tests and these are reputable organisations who will not alter results. Why will any government play politics with a disease that killed the COS to the president? Why are Nigerians like this?

Nigerians are a special breed. Ask them and you hear them comparing Nigeria to other countries

I'm surprise that Kogi government can trace the contacts after denial of the existence of this virus in Kogi state.
Anyway, this virus should be given another names in Africa . It may retain it's name , Corona virus or Covid-19 , in the West. The reason is simply that African virus is totally different from Covid-19 in terms of symptoms, infection and transmission.
The advance countries with their stringent measures record thousands of case everyday. Nigeria which lockdown declaration was abuse flagrantly by citizens only records 9000+ till date.
I want learned colleagues to convince me that we have the same virus called Covid-19.

The only country that is testing widely is south Africa and now with the easing of lockdown there they're are recording high numbers now. That's the thing with Africa compared to other parts of the world;tests. I will admit transmission rate seems damp here.

Nevertheless, I think the weather also have impact. Kano in recent months have been generally hot with average temperature of 37deg while the virus would not survive beyond 26deg, so the rate of spread would be very slow.

They're complaining of lack of test kits, while majority failed to turn up for test.

Thats an issue the ncdc DG has mentioned. People aren't coming forward for tests, won't say I blame them we just aren't disciplined for this

There is little chance of no covid in Kogi given that they didn't shut their borders and like you said people commute between the state and the FCT on a daily basis

Covid-19 recovery rate is about 80%. So it means, people without underlying health issues, would definitely recover without much attention.

Nigeria is a country with over 200million people, with very very poor record keeping management or even news coverage. If you waiting to hear dt people are dropping dead all over the town so you know that covid-19 is real, then you're a covidiot.

However, testing of barely 60k people out of a possible 200 million people is infinitesimal. It is not enough for you to suggest that Nigeria is doing well in Corona virus and that the people who predicted that there would be tsunami in terms of deaths, are mere doomsday layabouts.

Besides, we have some of the worst hospitals in the world. So if there's a tsunami, it would tell a severe consequences.

We are not out of the woods yet. NCDC are testing only people who show symptoms. That shows our testing capabilities are very very low.

There's nothing like inflated figures. USA are showing figures in the region of 1.7million positive cases, having conducted over 30million tests. Are their figures inflated too? And we are posting almost 10k cases from barely 60k testing. Do the math. We are performing poorly. The numbers are not good based on how many tests we have conducted.

Besides, the incubation period in Africa could be longer than other template regions.

Yet, most Corona virus patients are treated of malaria because they are showing signs of malaria. There is no cure yet. So there is no guarantee for any recovered patients yet.

What you should advice people to do is to ensure they stay safe so as not to endanger the vulnerable such as old people and mostly people with underlying health problems.

Remember, don't be a covidiot. Everything is not about conspiracy theories.

I just need an explanation. Kano was having serious local transmission which resulted them in being no.2 affected state in Nigeria so how come it has dialled down seriously? Or this is just because another storm is coming?. Anyway I know the media hasn't really helped when it comes to covid in Nigeria but that doesn't mean things aren't what they are especially in the North.

Can authorities explain why Kano's cases have dialled down? Or they aren't testing as before again
