Rikidony: The only way to curtail Coronavirus is through massive testing, and up till today we are still conducting under 2000 test pay day, this virus has gone beyond Community transmission in the country, a lot of people are walking around with it, we will continue having low numbers today and an increase tomorrow, meaning we ain't reaching the curve soon, if we continue like this, many countries in Africa with massive testing will be done with this shit while we keep battling it daily. At this point only a vaccine or a valid treatment can help Nigeria. We're definitely gonna be left behind. I see why WHO predicts Africa to be the new epicenter by July |

jayworld15: Sincerely speaking I’m beginning to doubt this thing. First of all, we see them with empty isolation centres and none is even saying his/her people have been taken to the centres, we Nigerians need to pray (because you know Nigerians are religious) except the political class comes Minh out that its members are infected and the recent Almajiris ( whose existence has being compromised). In reality, I feel this thing is starting to be either be a hoax and non existence in Nigeria or is in existence but the figures are politically manipulated. Every state government wants to cash out big time. Kogi doesn't like money I guess |

emeernest: Can't make much meaning out of this raw & incomplete data...
Lagos =179; out of how many tests? Kaduna= 20; how many tests? ... Edo =1; how many tests?
Are the tests random? Or are they based on contact-tracing with index case? Or are they based on people who reported with symptoms? Or people who just returned from Abroad?
NCDC Data Analysts should process these raw data to show if curve is Increasing, flattening or declining. this is definitely needed. Because I don't understand how and why states keep having staggered results . The states that recorded 1 today how? |

Nigeria can't do anything unless we increase testing capacity, another lockdown is not wise and besides with what's happening can they lockdown for 3 months?cos with what's happening Lagos and Nigeria at large will be with this thing till the end of the year |

TONYE001: I sincerely hope it doesn't.
Thing is, government should begin to look at measures that can be put in place to contain (and live with) the virus. No government should plan on completely eradicating this virus before schools and other affairs are recalled....this would be an endless wait.
We must get our societies running again as soon as possible. Just like HIV, COVID-19 may not disappear. Yes this is the problem. We hear they're changing strategy but they're still acting like its March 28 . Still testing above 1000 per day won't get the infection curve into any form of control, it's putting us behind it further. Add to the fact that the people aren't having it and can't maintain the guidelines (not our fault tho, unfortunately it's just how things are). Honestly Nigeria's fight to curb and manage this thing seems fruitless. I do hope they have something up their sleeves else this could cost us the rest of the year |

TONYE001: Exactly! How ironic!
All year long, I crave for some good time to spend with my wife and kids as I'm almost always away (I school outside my state of residence). Now, I've got all the time in the world and I'm crying to return to school.
Medschool is extremely stressful, perhaps the most stressful program in the university but most medical students would rather face the stress until graduation than enjoy a loooooong break.
I recall when we were writing our Path-Pharm MB. That exam was quite stressful, the most stressful for me since I got into the training. You'd imagine that students would plead for an extended break after the exam but I tell you, this wasn't the case. Some of my colleagues wanted just one week!
So, I agree with your submission. It may be the case. I only feel for those that are currently outside the state. Too bad. Bro I tell you. I'm tired already. I've been at home since we finished our second MB and I dread thinking it's gonna last the whole year |

lampido22: From what is happening now I think WHO and any other country trying and maybe wasting resources for coronavirus vaccine should try and get a cure first and then continue with the research for a vaccine.. Just like malaria without vaccine but there is a cure. It's quite obvious coronavirus is here to stay and we should learn to live with it. Furthermore lock down won't solve our problems rather it will definitely make it worse. Vaccine is definitely more important if we ever want to have our lives back. A cure right now would only slow down the fatalities |

FFS people still don't understand what's happening . Due to the manner of infection, yes it's not going anytime soon. Even countries that have flattened their curve can always have a resurgence of the virus.
Now for us to move on and manage it we need preventive measures i.e a vaccine so our immune system gets a heads up. A cure that's been touted everyday here can only help reduce the fatalities but doesn't help if the infection is widespread like it is now. |

boookworm: Baba did you conduct autopsy to know the cause of their deaths? Or have people not been dying mysteriously before the coming of Covid? Is North the only place with the virus? Why are people not dropping dead in Lagos, or u think lagosians that are known to be very stubborn are adhering to the social distancing and hand washing rule? If Covid is what is Covid is what's killing people in the North then a lot of Lagosians ought to have died mysteriously too cos u need to see how Lagosians crowd themselves. Once again, reason am I agree with this assertion. Sometimes I think the media just wants to stir up fear in the north when reporting on this so called mysterious deaths. So Lagos the epicenter isn't recording mysterious deaths? How . What was the death pattern of the state before tagging them mysterious |

Investnow2017: Thanks for your painstaking explanation. But because we have their type in millions here in Nigeria be prepared to repeat this your explanation at least a billion times before it can sink into their brains if only they will allow it.
The way some display their stark ignorance on this matter in NL is not only annoying but bitterly disappointing. You begin to wonder what planet these ones came from. Could they be aliens, you wonder.
Just watch out for comments of seasoned dullards here when the NCDC releases their result tonight. Some accuse that they inflate the figures to embezzle money blah, blah, blah. Others say the governors make money from Covid-19. This last accusation suggests that some governors in Nigeria then are allergic to Covid-19 money!
If you have nothing to comment why spew out stupidity in a public space? Their minds are so warped that they do not know that their publicly expressed doubts can put others in clear danger. That is my pain. Results are released and you jumped up to say, 'it's audio', 'it's a scam', 'it's inflated', 'I don't care any more', blah, blah, blah. You don't care and you are reacting to the result! Their thinking is so limited that they don't know that intelligent minds know so well that such prideful comments signify nothing but FEAR!
Don't be surprised that some may not read your explanation, or may choose to misunderstand it because the mind is already set - and foolishly negatively at that . Thank You. Like I'll keep saying your comment should be among the first not buried in the last page Not just Nairaland, on twitter also. Now some people I know personally have started parroting this thing . It's sad situation but I don't blame them, Nigeria is just about vibes now . |

mvem: No!...more than 80% show no symptoms or mild symptoms and recover very well. Those you see on TV in the ICU with ventilators are those whose cases become severe and critical leading to pneumonia which requires breathing aid. This mostly affect the old and those having a compromised immune system. There is Covid 19 everywhere in the world and I personally know someone who is a doctor here in Nigeria that tested positive. His only symptom was Anosmia which is loss of smell and taste, he was very healthy and active and recovered few days ago in the isolation centre. And mind you those in the isolation centre and not admitted, they are just isolated to prevent spreading it to vulnerable ones that might fall sick. Covid has a very high recovery rate, I don't know why people think if you have it you must show breathing problems, when healthy young individuals might show no symptoms at all or mild symptoms mimicking malaria or cold flu Like I always say these comments should be among the first. Nigerians are tiring |
