HealthRe: Why The Lockdown Is No Longer Necessary by SirWarlock: 10:51am On Jun 04, 2020
God2man2again:
Good morning to my fellow Nigerians,

I have decided to write what I think is necessary at this time and not only what is necessary but what is happening within the country.

First of all, the Corona virus started last year from the city of Wuhan China and it has spread all over the world. Various Countries have come out different measures to curb the spread, some countries have succeeded in curbing it but majority of the countries are still battling with how to stop the spread.

In Nigeria, the Federal Government came with various measures to stop the spread, these are some of the measures put in place: lockdown measures, stay at home order, social distances, wearing of facemask, creating isolation centres, closing of borders and the introduction of some.personal hygiene like washing of hands.

Today is June 4, 2020. The lockdown has been put in place strategically for about close to 9 weeks, precisely towards the end of the month of March till date except in some places that have been eased not because the Virus is not spreading but because of the bad of effect of the continuous stay at home order.

Too much everything will always be counter productive, there is a limit to human endurance, when the lockdown is becoming more than necessary, it would have bad effects on the economy as well as the citizens.

The Government is doing it to save lives but the question is, has the spread of virus stopped as a result of measures put in place by the Government?

The answer is no.

Let's us reason together, if people infected are being treated on daily basis and discharged then it raises another question, where do they get what they used to treat them?
Of course, they must have a prescription for the treatment.
Why can't we formalize this prescription and make it viral or repackage it so that anybody that is infected can be given the prescription so that everything can go back to normal again.

Time is money, the Federal Government should apply the above method and as a matter of necessity, open everywhere for us to continue our way of life.

Malaria is still in existence, so are all other diseases, Corona is not an exception.
What the Government ought to do is to open up everywhere so we live our normal lives.

Moreover, many have manipulated this period for their own selfish reasons.

These are the reasons why the lockedown should be stopped with immediate effect.

God has helped us by reducing the death rate but we must not be ungrateful by using this period for selfish reasons.

It is time to stop the lockdown.

God bless the Federal republic of Nigeria.
We are still doing this concerning treatment for covid sad. It's been 5 months!. God knows we all wish corona was just like malaria in terms of infection and treatment!

Yes the same way India, Russia, Brazil, South Africa are also inflating figures.

Then set up your own labs huh. Prove to the world that there's nothing to hide. Health care in this country is not the best and you're just playing with the subject matter undecided. Or no funds to facilitate testing undecided

The virus is now sweeping Latin America. Nigeria and Africa at large should do all it takes to avert similar scenarios!

And for the olodos above, you might want to look up the meaning of the word "suspension"
They know and even said the same thing when suspended the trials. They think it's by blasting WHO like trump cheesy

I believe that covid19 vaccine development should be their main priority, not some botched clinical trials.
ehh they're supporting 133 vaccines in development globally. A working vaccine might not be ready this year or next, so other and quicker methods of treatment should be propped up.

Italy was able to release 14000 patient in a single day by not listening to WHO. They performed autopsy on the dead bodies and found out the real cause of the Corona disease. Sanwo Olu, even if NDDC is scamming Nigerians , why do you want to be remembered as the governor who allowed Corona virus trend in this country. Why can't you be as selfless as Fashola. Whenever Ebola is mentioned in this country, Fashola's name is praised. I wonder what people will say about you in the future when Corona virus is mentioned
What? huh huh

Funny all this while you were living in denial you could have established a test centre you can closely monitor and call out NCDC grin. You've only tested 3 samples with one new positive case and you're still pointing fingers angry

in practical terms..... Is any state of the federation actually locked down?

People go about their daily activities regardless.
It's just those office places that government needs to pronounce open.... E.g schools

If they can open religious centres, why not schools
Well yes Nigeria has virtually gone back to normal. Opening of religious centres was unnecessary tbh. I agree Nigeria's covid response is uneven and self defeating. That and schools should be one of the last things given the situation on ground ie community transmission. So let's hope the religious congregants know what they are doing undecided. The services can only hold for one hour and one way in another way out could help limit the spread undecided. But for schools as per Nigeria, I don't see how any one is ready be it tertiary, secondary or primary. Going by NCDC stats the bulk of cases are people in the 31-40 age range. Schools can buck that trend.

Enugu State is gradually falling into the hands of Covid 19 instead of the hands of God. Community transmission is about to start in Enugu State. The Governor is too dull to take proactive actions. People come into Enugu from various states unchallenged. My friends travel on daily basis out of Enugu State. Which route does they follow?? I leave the question to Enugu State Government.
Nothing the government can do. I mean they never bothered to checkmate border security before, is it now during a pandemic they will do that sad

We are really bitter and disappointed on the FG for easing the lockdown.

The best the FG would have done is to enforce a total lockdown across all the states of the federation until further notice.

The cases keep increasing since the relaxation of the lockdown and the FG have the mind to lift the ban on religious centres.

What a fools paradise. Which way Nigerians, do we fold our arms and allow this COVID-19 consume us.

We call on the FG as a matter of urgency to declare a total lockdown of all states now until further notice.

We all should be able to care for ourselves and families without any pallative.

Wake up Nigerians, wake up, wake up.
it's too late? for another lockdown. The best thing to do now is limit as much clusters and gatherings as possible. I would have advocated for extended lockdown in Lagos then before the easing but oh well undecided. The government knows what it's doing I think undecided

2gbasky22:
Which way Nigeria?
Here is the way to go...

They should ease the lockdown completely
Allow Students and pupils to go back to school
Allow businesses to resume
Allow market to return
Allow Religious centers to resume

#Allow life to resume in Nigeria

Then Comprehensively enforce the use of face mask and other safety precautions.
Because this virus is not going anywhere anytime soon. the Lockdown is not helping matters in any way.
The government is just killing our already fragile economy.

we go dey alright Las Las
Yes the virus isnt going away anytime soon. But they still need to checkmate the spread. Open schools now and they become numerous hotspots nationwide.

which foreign country?.... well if you're talking about america they just recorded over 19,000 new cases and they are already easing luckdown also
America's figures keep surprising me. 20k daily for more than two weeks now even with all the measures and massive testing going on. And now another wave of infections looms sad.

daily cases are decreasing drastically in foreign countries, so they are now gradually relaxing lockdown. In Nigeria, daily cases are averagely on d increase and we're joining foreign countries to relax lock down. somethings don't just add up, are NCDC giving us d right figures?
It's the same with India, south Africa, even Brazil. Thing is lockdown isnt really sustainable it seems, both socially and economically. Europeans and Australians were the only ones ready to stay home grin. Thing with Nigeria really is we didn't fully utilize the partial lockdown period in terms of testing and preparations during and post-lockdown and subsequently post-covid. Now our governments are bowing to needless pressure eg worship centers undecided when they know fully well it can never be duly followed. The only thing I have in my head right now is we haven't really reached breaking point yet especially Lagos.

While Nigeria's response is self defeating with the incessant relaxation of lockdowns by governments, it's not safe for reopening. With what I see best and safe case scenario could be August.

I don't know why some people are pained each time their is action of easing lockdown, I don't just understand the rational behind their crying over easing of lockdown, it is not compulsory that you must go out, since you are scare to die and want to live forever please stay indoor till next year or even 2023 nobody will arrest you.

Accidents have killed more people that covid19, people have died in their sleep than covid19 and even malaria just to mentioned the few....

I remembered vividly the day the government first eased lockdown, some people prophesied doom then, some even thought that by now we would been seen dead bodies on the street then but after then what happened? I even commented on one of the thread to urge people to go out while observing safety, to God be the glory, we have not seen anybody that have died we know since then.

My people, these people (NCDC) and the likes are fear mongers, they have agenda and executing their ulterior motives, people should continued to go out to their businesses while observing measures, as for people that working for government that only want to be collecting salaries without working, they should know that corona business shall come to an end..

Nigeria lockdown when developed nations were locking down without even knowing the meaning and taken account of our peculiarity, now they are easing up so they have no option than to copy and paste here, that is what informed their decision not even number of cases recording. I've already that they will follow suit....lolz
So are you saying other countries are having dead bodies filling their streets?

huge cost for herd immunity ie fatalities. Also the time it would require. Can't blame Nigerians not taking the thing seriously when even the authorities don't.

Thats the thing. The PTF and state governments are acting like they know the final results and they have everything under control when that's not the truthful case.
