Cheiiii, I eat rice like crazy mehn.

Replaced white sugar with brown sugar, now my white rice for brown rice? No jose!

Now they'll be telling me that brown spaghetti is better than white spaghetti. or brown bread is better than white bread angry

Brown is the nastiest food color jor[/quote]
OgidiBoy:
I volunteer in a diabetes camp for children in the summer, and brown rice is what they serve for dinner on Mondays, Brown rice is health and all because of all the fiber but it's as nasty as hell. It's like chewing cardboard. grin
i know! only the strong in taste-buds can withstand the tasteless taste of brown rice. not me jor. @ Ebony, some "white bread have been refined removing some its natural nutrient content however, many are added right back as in "enriched". hence, most labels put the word "fortified" or "enriched

@ Blacksta

there was a study done at Harvard School of Public Health that found out that replacing White Rice With Brown Rice may Reduces Risk of Type 2 Diabetes. " people who consumed five or more servings of white rice per week had a 17% increased risk of diabetes, compared to people who ate less than one serving per month. But eating two or more servings of brown rice per week was associated with an 11% reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes, compared to eating less than one serving of brown rice per month."

They recommend replacing white rice and other refined grains with brown rice to try to prevent type 2 diabetes.

blacksta:
I am strongly following this thread -  One of my main food is white rice and if i could replace it with brown rice i believe i would lose weight fast . but the question is " Which is much healthier"
nutrition-wise, brown rice is better and healthier. but taste-wise, i'd go with white rice. white rice loses most of its nutritional content during processing although most countries requires the lost nutrients to be enriched back not sure if the ones imported in naija are enriched . but i'd go with REAL brown rice if i liked the taste. as you know, tastes varies, so maybe you MIGHT Like the taste of brown rice better. so, i'd say, try a small quantities and see.

Ejadamen:
@ Sissy,if you know how I dislike markets ehn you go fear fear grin I just wanted to know what it is called in the market before venturing there.
maybe you should ask any market woman you know to maybe check for you as in the name or whether its carried in the main market before you venture. but i know its called brown rice

FamilyRe: Submission In A Marriage: Women, Why The Resistance? by Sissy3(f): 12:10am On Jul 30, 2010
one thing, i hate about this particular command is that men who never smell church, or open the bible in their whole miserable life are the first to selectively quote this chapter in the whole bible because it suits them undecided

i really what Pope Pius said here about this:

"The submission of the wife neither ignores nor suppresses the liberty to which her dignity as a human person and her noble functions as wife, mother, and companion give her the full right.

It does not oblige her to yield indiscriminately to all the desires of her husband; and his desires may be unreasonable or incompatible with her wifely dignity.

It does not mean that she is on a level with persons who in law are called minors.  And minors are ordinarily denied the unrestricted exercise of their rights because of their immature judgment and not having enough experience".

1) it does not mean violation of her rights according to her dignity as a human person;
2) it does not mean for her to submit to her husband’s desires blindly, totally, and completely because his desires may be unreasonable and not compatible to his wife’s dignity;
3) it does not mean she is to be treated like minors who are not able to make mature judgment.

interesting article i thought undecided

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/health/13mind.html

"For better or worse, parents have limited power to influence their children. That is why they should not be so fast to take all the blame — or credit — for everything that their children become."

command 2

there is NO CURE yet for HIV/AIDS so dont people scam you out of our money and cause you more emotional distress. they will soon invade this thread with offers of a "cure" and their phone numbers. dont buy into their dubious claim here or outside. THERE IS NO CURE

if you a carrier, go to a hospital and get on antiviral drugs. that is the only way to help you MANAGE BUT NOT CURE HIV

FamilyRe: Submission In A Marriage: Women, Why The Resistance? by Sissy3(f): 9:59pm On Jul 26, 2010
i think some women have such resistance because the original intent of that submission have been skewed by men and many have used it to manipulate, maltreat, abuse, and enslave their women all in the name of "God, said, woman be submissive to your husband"

secondly, some women dont understand the whole picture of the that word "submission" in the way God intended it. espcially, in this 21st century where women are striving for self-indepence, self-reliance, gender equality, so the use of the "submission" to these kind of women have become synonymous to be a slave, giving men extra power(which is aganist their self-indepence belifefs). they feel like, submission shouldnt be used in this century because everyone is equal and so should be marriage. "every thing and anything a man can do, surely a woman can do definitely better". women have suffered enough in the hands of men in the past century when they believe women were submissive to their husbands.
some people believe in mutual respect. respect me, i respect you etc so no need for "Sir master" those kinds of things

so,  i think both genders have misinterpreted, misunderstood, misuse and over skewred that word SUBMISSION. God never intended for men to use submissiveness to oppress and suppress their wives neither did he wanted the women to feel that he was chauvinist (as some women have claimed).

so, while i cant blame the women wholly or the men wholly either for the misuse of the word. however, one cant help but notice that men intend to use that word only when it favors them. forgetting also, that its God, who said "women be submissive to your husbands" and also said "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her"

when a man treats her wife as God instructed i dont think a woman will resist. but in many of the cases, when the woman is submissive she gets nothing in return. many men abuse that word

personally, i dont see the problem with submissiveness  as long as the man understands Gods intent of it and when its NOT TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.He gave Women the Power and gave men the Authority.  in other-words, men are the HEAD of the family and women are the HEART of the family

as the sayings, goes the men wears the trouser in the marriage but women tells them which one to wear.

but until, BOTH genders study and understand that word, there will continue to be that resistance.
HealthRe: Why Why Why ! by Sissy3(mod): 2:30am On Jul 26, 2010
its called asymmetric breAst. very few ladies/women have perfectly equal sized brEasts. however, some asymmetry are more pronounced than others. i.e some have one or two cups difference. while for others there is hardly any big noticeable/loud asymmetry.

FamilyRe: Do You Believe In Surrogate Babies? by Sissy3(f): 2:04am On Jul 26, 2010
Siena:
Sissy, if you're the recipient, then there's really no difference. As a matter of fact, with surrogacy, at least it's possible to implant your own eggs, fertilized by your man's spermatozoa, into another woman (surrogate). So the resultant baby will actually be yours, i.e carry both yours and your husband's genes. What's wrong with that?

I think a lot of us here need to really read up on Surrogacy, and see what it all entails.
i know what surrogacy entails, however, it is still not a choice or an option that i am personally comfortable with regardless of whether it contains my DNA, or that of my partner.
