The question has been:: Why would you make all the noise without registering your name?? It just displays a misorder of priorities. And people are seeking leaders who are strong. The more the opposition keeps whinning, the weaker they keep looking. Humans are more attracted to strength than to weakness. Thats why in political rallies, crowds matter as they signal a show of strength.

I think you guys still don't get it. It's actually more straightforward to register a new party than a merger. The merging parties have notified INEC of their intended merger but they have to fulfill some conditions before the new party can be registered. It's not like registering an entirely new party. The good thing is that the new party will also have to fulfill some conditions too, so it won't be an easy ride. For APC, the worst-case scenario is that they'll lose the name and they can easily choose a different name for their merger. Nigerians are fed up with the PDP and even if a credible opposition party is called ZZZ, they'll support it.

A lot of people are just here running down APC so they can sound smart and in the usual Nigerian (& perpetually pessimistic) Mr Know-It-All style. Remember these APC guys are no kids and a lot of them are experienced intellectuals. Whoever decided to register the fake APC is obviously working with insiders in INEC and knows the loopholes in the system. But in my opinion PDP/Jonathan won't be so difficult to beat in an election. Their credentials are so glaring. This is what's bothering PDP. And this is not 2003 where you can easily write results of an election and present it to the public. 2015 will be a make-or-break year.

This episode may actually play into the hands of the APC and help them win public sympathy as well as more resentment for the evil PDP. But APC should up their game and get these things done quickly. All I want to hear from now on are deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!

The new DISCOs are about to take over the facilities. In 3 to 4 months, power will be fully run by the private sector. Tthe total generation expected by the and of the year is between 8000 to 10000MW. The Mambilla hydroeletric plant which should be ready by end of 2014 will produce 10000MW. That is at least 20000MW by end of 2014! So I don't know what you are talking about.

All the transmission projects will be completed this year. Several have already being commisioned already like the Benin-Onitsha N1 line. I am enjoying close to 16 hours power daily up from like 4 hours in 2 days last year. Some of you should try and follow the news and see what is going on before you post on NL. As I am typing now, power has been mostly on since yesterday. It was interupted for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon and 2 hours at night.

From current projection, we should have constant power for most of the country by 2015/2016. This is putting into consideration a lot of infrastructural overhaul that the new companies will need to do nationwide.

Were waiting, but this is the same bvllshit Obasanjo told us for 8 yrs.

Another false report reflecting PDP's panic. The coalition members will resolve whatever may disagreements may arise. What brought them together is much stronger than these trivialities.

What Abati and Okupe has forgotten is that politics is game and the trophy is the political power at election. If an opposition saw an opportunity to be considered better than the serving govt, they will grab it and that it the way its has always been through out the whole democratic world. It doesn't matter what their intentions were. Its a competition to be liked by the electorates-that is what politics is.

The job of opposition is to oppose almost every govt move with their own alternatives and its down to the public to make a choice between the two ways and thats why they are called the OPPOSITION.

They are crying because they dosing and allow the opposition to steal the show under their feet in Maiduguri, wait till they visit the troop first in Mali, because I see that now as a possibility.

While i understand your logic, i think that trying to sell IBB is taking it a bit too far. If he somehow works against the PDP behind the scenes, maybe. But IBB's open declaration for APC will wash away the credibility it's got so far and the easy acceptance it has gained from Nigerians. I can't imagine an IBB standing with and campaigning for a future presidential candidate. That will be easy cannon for PDP against the APC. As we said earlier, if IBB leaves the PDP and stands on his own or retires from politics, it'a huge minus for PDP and a plus for APC. But if he leaves and joins the APC, it WILL definitely backfire. APC does not need IBB.

No doubt YOU are confused. Go back and read all the comments and realize that APC was not mentioned in his interview. Also read his previous statement on the merger and understand what he said about the opposition coming together.

IBB's disenchantment with PDP is a big minus for the party which is of course a plus for the opposition. I guess you guys' (Jonathan's cheerleaders) sentiments did not allow you to infer this simple logic. No where in that interview was APC mentioned. And even in previous news stories, IBB did not endorse APC as a party. He only said that he liked the idea of having 2 strong parties.

He hasn't publicly shown interest in joining the APC, and even if he does, APC's willingness to admit him is another story entirely. Personally, due to his past contribution to the decimation of this country, I see him as a stain on a party like APC which has the intention of winning the people's hearts.

Why are these PDP cheerleaders obsessed with Lagos now? They should go to PDP states and let us hear word jare. We don't need their tour abi na by force?

You may be right, the formation of APC could be partly responsible. Right or wrong though, Nigerians are the winner at the end of the day because these are things that should have been done many many years ago. He should be ready to pack his bags in 2015 sha, along with that embarrassment called Patience. The new APC govt will continue from where he stops.

I am now convinced a top 2015 APC political role has been pencilled in for Fashola going by how the Lagos governor has upped the ante as an open critic of the FG lately. If there was a criticism I had of Fashola, it was his hesitancy to fully define himself as a politician. Now he is doing so. Very important to perform but also important,if you have top-level ambition, to be visibly charismatic, for good or bad, in Nigerian politics . All GEJ's gra-gra will come to nought because he will be the last accidental President Nigeria ever has. The old boys are running out of steam and their machinations , since 1999, that made it possible for their unprepared, uncharismatic and dour stooges to lead Nigeria can no longer endure in this day and age.

Very interesting thread. I'm not a bit surprised at Jonathan's choice of BOT chairman or how the recycled bandit got "unanimously" elected - that's PDP for you. I'm rather happy that Jonathan is showing more of his true color in case anyone still has any doubts as to how devious he truly is. Nigerians have enough time to decide if they want to continue with this mess called government or if they want a change come 2015.
